Winter Haven Florida (Early 2025)
Welcome to our latest update on Winter Haven, Florida! In this video, we'll explore significant developments shaping our vibrant city, from the conclusion of a historic water ski show to exciting new projects in sports, real estate, and dining.
Farewell to a Legendary Tradition
After entertaining audiences since the 1940s, the iconic water ski show at LEGOLAND Florida Resort-originally part of Cypress Gardens-performed its final act on December 30, 2024. This show was renowned as the world's longest-running entertainment production. While this marks the end of an era, the park is shifting focus to new attractions, including a SEA LIFE Aquarium set to open this spring.
Revitalization of Chain of Lakes Park
Demolition has begun on the historic Chain of Lakes Stadium, once the spring training home for MLB teams like the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians. The City of Winter Haven is leading a $20 million redevelopment project to construct four state-of-the-art collegiate-level baseball fields. This initiative is expected to generate approximately $60 million annually for the local economy by attracting amateur and collegiate baseball events.
Booming Real Estate and Unique Waterfront Homes
Winter Haven's real estate market is thriving, with new construction projects and unique homes along the Chain of Lakes. The interconnected lake system offers residents unparalleled waterfront living, perfect for boating, fishing, and enjoying scenic views. New communities, such as The Lakes in Lake Alfred, provide exclusive canal-front and lakefront homes, catering to those seeking a distinctive lifestyle.
Culinary Scene Expansion
The city's dining options are expanding with the opening of Bowen Yard, a new food and event venue in downtown Winter Haven. This development features a variety of eateries, including Hemingway’s Cuban Kitchen, and aims to become a central hub for food enthusiasts. Additionally, local favorites like Arabellas and Harborside continue to offer diverse culinary experiences.
Stay tuned as we delve deeper into these topics, showcasing how Winter Haven is honoring its rich history while embracing growth and innovation. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more updates on our dynamic community!

Epperson lagoon - The home buying guide (Watch before 2024)
Winter Park is classic historic luxury. A true hidden gem within Florida immune to the hyper urbanization & monopolization of many parts of the state.
Christian, great channel. Love your high standards. One request: Able to do a video on Phoenix, AZ? The President of UCF and mayor of Orlando visited that city for years for inspiration. Phoenix is the most master planned city in the country. Perfect grid system spanning 200 ave west and 200 streets east. It is the shining city on a hill, globally, literally for mathematical precision to city and street and urban planning. If you can learn from it and use your networks to advocate for that kind of development in orlando We can save our fast growing cities from becoming miserable stand still traffic zones like what happened to LA
This is shiny new objects Anti community
Is it safe to live there yet? Has the gentrification worked???
These Beaches can't compare to Hallandale Beach Florida and Hollywood Beach Florida, fort Lauderdale Beach, Miami Beach ❤
I lived in St Pete Beach for a half year or so spring-summer 2023. The Rays were the hottest team around to start the season. I couldn't talk ANYONE into going to a game. The residents of this area are not interested in supporting this team, except watching on TV. It's a shame, because they are typically good. They should move to Orlando.
I might pin this
Awesomeness! Thank you!
💯💯
Traffic is horrible nothing to see here!
Traffic is terrible everywhere
I moved here in 2014 it was pretty awesome, now 2024 downtown near the Lynx station has gotten worse especially at night, I do like the option of being able to take a Bus (although I wish they were 24 hours, even if you had to hire some guards from 8 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. and some more routes ) I have been wanting to go to Universal and haven't made it there yet, I should have went when I was homeless, I had a little bit more money from being homeless than now living in an apartment, some people go homeless because of how high rent is ,
Thanks for stopping in
Not sure when you are on the parkway but when I drive it in the afternoon it is crowded.
Really? You have been in slow traffic on the parkway?
Thinking of moving to Lakeland this summer from Miami , great video !!
Nice! Let us know if we could help tram@morefla.com
place blows now, traffic is out of control, stop moving here man, y'all ruined it
People that moved ruined it?
I think the stadium stays in St. Pete. When I considered the potential growth that it could gender St Pete and Pinellas County, collectively, I think the Ray’s would even benefit as well. Having the Rays leave St Pete might be major disaster for the ongoing development that’s happening. For years, I never thought St Pete could be what it’s become. At the close of the video you presented a possibility that I think could work. Since the new stadium would be built some yards away from the older stadium, simply redevelopment the older stadium-making it an additional piece to the entire development experience. West Shore Plaza in Tampa is being redeveloped. Renovate and redevelopment the older stadium as part of the overall project experience. Tampa Bay Ray’s leaving St Pete? Nope: not at all. There’s so much to consider here-I do think the proposition you posed at the end of this video is the better choice. It’s a tough decision. As a whole, I’d hate to see St Pete and Pinellas lose this. Where are the chieftains of smart business and good governance? I don’t see them at the table at all.
Well said. A very simple solution. Shine what you have, save money, see if it works. Thanks for stop in!
one thing is for sure the current stadium even before the hurricane damage is a dump.
I can’t disagree. But man it’s not ancient. You think a new one is the way to go?
@ they should build it up in Tampa, attendance in Saint Petersburg is terrible , people only show up for the soccer team… down the street.
Great video
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching
The show deserves to stay
💯
Anna Maria Island is the best
Can’t disagree
Awesome video, thanks for the update on the area. lol I was hoping you’ll tried love bird. So who has the best pizza in Winter Haven 🤔
Man best Pizza?… I have a place in mind
Even though the Water Ski Show is gone from Legoland, I believe that it still takes place on the 3rd Saturday of every month in Winter Haven on Lake Silver at around 6:00 PM
Sure does 🫡
Thanks for the information, that's such great news. Makes me feel so much better of having winter haven as my new home town. I heard that they're building a target across the street. Can you look into that also.
I’ve heard the Target is about 90% certain. Thanks for stopping in Earnie
People here are calling Florida the "Stink on the Brink." Why is that?
Very funny Steven-H5E 🤓
Traffic in Central Florida is utter hell......u can't drive from Orlando to Lakeland in under an hour on a good day, much less make it to St Petersburg ....it's better to stay home and watch them on TV.....
I would rather watch on TV yes. If it was conveniently located in an area that offered a ton to do, it would help.
The owner of the Rays is really an idiot. He does not know how to build a winning team and does not care. Anytime a player is good they get traded to a better team. The Rays are like the farm team for the MLB. Attendance is pitiful, the crowd enthusiasm is mediocre and that's all due to the owner not caring. I do not believe the city or county should spend a dime rebuilding the roof of the existing stadium or fund a new one. St Petersburg should use that money to fix it's infrastructure which is failing. Let the Rays owner sucker some other city into paying for a stadium.
💭
I love baseball, do I want to lose it? hell no, but I,ve had it up to here with this greedy gimme gimme owner , multi millionaire, demands the city pay, no way, open up your check book once in a while, maybe show the fans you have left that you care about them and all the issues that some folks are still trying to put their lives back together after two terrible storms, so my point, help the people who need help, then help the greedy millionaire
💡
St Petersburg doesn't deserve the Ray's but I pray they stay . The community needs them , they just don't know they need them because some think that their business will bring people to the area. Lol NO !! Not like the Ray's and Tropicana Field do on average every year . God bless the USA
Respect 🫡
In the history of the world has a stadium done anything but lose money, and has never been paid for. Let the owners pay for a new stadium if they want it, they end up bending the taxpayers over for every dime they make on parking concessions and any events. It’s not affordable and no one would take this deal if they had to themselves. Byeeeee..
They said “let’s double down”
Enough of billionaire welfare 😮 yup
💡
Good video post and thumbs up, which I almost gave you a thumbs down because frankly I'm so over this story. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays will always have a special place in my heart. Even though as a Detroit Tigers fan I can't stand them. I have loved everything about all of the expansion franchises in baseball since or around my birth. From the Toronto Blue Jays, Montreal Expos, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers (relocate), Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers (relocate), Miami Marlins, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Each team has been special to what I love about baseball. The Rays play in a very complicated region and have not been a draw as you've mentioned.
I appreciate the compliment and yea I understand the frustration
St Pete is a legendary spring training city. That's how it should have stayed. I think that is where it should go back to now.
The golden days
I just wish they'd build something like Camden Yards and PNC park.
💯
This started in the mid 80's, it opened in 1990. I was still in middle school when they started building it, I remember watching it go up. Hillsborough did make an offer to the team to build in Tampa, but they Rays declined because they would have to put up more money, and they control all that land at the Trop. Once they lose that control, they will try to take advantage of another market who will give them what they want.
I remember when it first opened there were monster truck rallies in there. 😂
💯💯
Isn't there a building way out somewhere on i-4 that never ever ever got finished? I don't know the real name of it and I never go out there so I don't know. Obviously it is not a problem for Pinellas County but just another unfinished thing I was reminded of listening to how this whole fiasco started in the '80s. I didn't know any of that history. And I don't care about baseball. Actually I don't know how I ended up at this end of UA-cam.
Big stadiums all over America empty.Look at Camping World in Orlando. The rolling stones came there and did not sell out. How about buying a $20.00 beer or paying $50.00 to park?
Camping world is a shared stadium. It doesn’t belong to an organization. Stadiums sell out all of the time. But yes… it’s an expensive time
Bring the Rays to Jacksonville!
Duuuuval?
@@Christianclay The one and only!
They will do fine in TAMPA
You think that could still happen?
That proposed ballpark between Sea World and the Orange county convention center has got to be the best option,by far.Orlando has the tourists year round and its in the middle of the state so it will draw from all around. If I had to choose where to put it St.Pete would be at the bottom,Tampa second and that location on I Drive in Orlando with the Beachline expressway right there, convention center surrounded by hotels,Sea World and Aquatica, the new Epic Universe park right there with a future Brightline station and the other Universal parks and Disney 10 minutes away, are you kidding me,why put it anywhere else.
I believe that is why it was proposed. Just to show the Rays that it’s a possibility.
Tampa doesn't deserve a baseball team if it can't even support its team in the playoffs during a regular weekday playoff game.
☀️
Bring a Rays fan I can say that I am not a fan of St. Pete, or Pinellas county. I would like them to move across the bay to Tampa or Ybor City.
That purposed ball feild was 🔥
Despicable history, even for baseball. I just hope the new stadium isn't built on a sinkhole.
😅
It's up to Tampa now....if much smaller Stinebrener field is not sold out for every Rays home game then that proves that it is not the St. Petersburg location preventing larger attendance figures.
That is actually pretty accurate. What if it sells out ?
I've heard that ticket prices are going to jump way up for 2025 at Steinbrenner Field. Going to a game at current prices is still expensive for a family, now it's going to be unaffordable to go to many games.
Then I will be proven wrong, as I live in St. Petersburg and I am a professional driver who feels that driving to any sports or entertainment venue at a time of high volume is a nightmare. Tampa, St.Petersburg, Orlando, Jacksonville, Miami, it's all the same and if you want to attend you will; but if you're looking for an excuse not to attend you can always blame traffic. Baseball attendance is down in every city you can easily see all the empty seats in every game broadcast. People find it much more enjoyable to watch on TV rather than actually going to a game. There's less hassle in getting to see the game, the parking is cheaper, the food is cheaper the drinks are cheaper, I don't have to worry about driving home after too much to drink, etc., etc., etc.
Partly true but costs for tickets are also WAY MORE in Tampa now . I'm also wheelchair bound and I'm wondering what the county is going to do to get us ada ticket holders to the games .
The Rays are a private business and should pay their own bills. Taxpayers do not need stadiums...wealthy private business owners do.
I personally think the city and county helped make that decision.
One of the Dumbest things I've ever read .
I half agree with you. Pro sports teams do bring in alot of money to a city.......however, if you want my tax dollars, you shouldn't be charging me $60 for a beer and hot dog. Just sayin.
I hope the devil rays stay in st pete
I think its weird how some things seem to happen when certain things are wanted in a certain environment. Whatever the people want, they should go with that.
💯
Very few fans decide whether or not to attend games based on stadium age. New stadiums are 90% vanity projects.
Exactly. But I understand; I think new golf clubs will make me play better. Never fails
This is not about baseball. This is all about redevelopment rights. If the Rays have the right to those properties around the potential stadium, why would they leave. This is the deal they have. There are no other deals that would satisfy their timeline.
I agree with you it plays into the favor of the rays totally. They get help with half of the money and they have the redevelopment rights. This was an agreement that the city of Saint Pete allowed to happen.
Rays organization can't afford to fix the roof but wants the city to give 350 millions???? Pathetic. Mlb needs to take over
I think the MLB is jumping in but in defense of the Rays
@Christianclay so mlb should pick up the tab.
maybe they should buy 175k dolls named melody that will cure loneliness at the games....
🫣
The reality is we WILL find out this season if anybody shows up to games in Tampa at the temporary stadium. Personally I just don't think Floridians are very interested in going to baseball games. We like watching it on TV but there's too many other things going on. look up the Miami Marlins nobody shows up to those games either.
I see your angle, but the only thing that doesn’t allow me to fully believe that is how well the Tampa Bay Lightning do with ticket sales. But yes, the entire city of Miami struggles with ticket sales and all sports.
Decent video, terrible title. St. Pete will be just fine if the Rays leave.
What if they stay? Would love to hear your thoughts on how it could affect the city, especially with the $1.3 billion invested.
They should 100% move to Tampa. I have a feeling they'll see how great their turnout is in the yankee stadium and decide to move here. Of course I'm a little biased because I live in Tampa Heights but still... Haha
I think it would have been a great move. It would have cost more but could you imagine a ball feild on the water in Chanelside/ybor harbor?
@@Christianclay It would be unreal haha. Traffic would be insane, but I truly think it's a better fit. Especially since St. Pete is much more art centered than sports or business. Plus my property value would explode... Haha
@@Christianclay Also, my grandfather was one of the very first season ticket holders of the stadium and even has his name on a seat and he agrees, it's better suited for Tampa at this point.
First, Tampa does not want the Rays. Tampa had the opportunity to relocate the Rays there, but Tampa would not give in financially for the Rays, which I felt was a stupid move by Tampa. Second, St. Petersburg, FL does not need the Rays. St. Petersburg has so much potential for growth in the Trop Field area without MLB baseball. Just walk from downtown to the baseball field and you will see it for yourself. The Rays need Tampa Bay area because there is no other sizable location (3 million +) in the U.S., albeit Salt Lake City, Utah (2.5 million) interested in paying billions, 2.5 billion for a new stadium. Third, if small , but growing Jacksonville, FL could fund $750 million for an NFL team that plays one of its home games in another country, St. Petersburg and Pinellas should fund the Rays, also!
Central ave has crazy potential.
@@Christianclay Thank you. That's the area (Central Ave) I was speaking of. Just couldn't remember the name.
If anything Dade County and the City of Miami approving Marlins Park funding in 2008 is a great example of why the current deal shouldn't go through. But I am sure between the promise of building African American History Museum (doubt it ever gets built) and the Rays allowing additional perks in the county and city council suites they will find away to let the definition of insanity win here.
