Philly Pilot
Приєднався 15 лют 2014
My name is Louis Barson and I am in the restaurant/deli business outside of Philadelphia.
I took my first flying lesson in July of 2017 and the rest is history.
When I am not working or spending time with my family I am usually flying Miss Yellby, my 2019 Cirrus SR22.
Miss Yellby is named after my wife Danielle. Her nickname for 29 years has been Yellby!

Thank you for your video, really cool bag. Is it possible to put a set of Bose a20s in one of those two front pockets under the magnetic flap?
Exactly the type of flying I hope to do
Whats with the yellow mic booms? Never have seen those before.
That was not easy
Rob - Great time yesterday. Thanks for watching :) - talk soon....and BTW - it really isn't hard, it just takes time. You learn & get better the more you do it - like pickleball!
It's not a "TFR", but the SFRA (Special flight rules area).
Thanks for doing this video. I am applying for my FRZ. I noticed that when you filed they already had your flight plan or a template. Was this because you had a previous flight or setup in Leidos? Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I had a standard route on file to go back and forth from LOM to CGS, which was easy and always approved.
A30 is absolutely trash. Bose is cash rich and pays off its sponsors so that’s why you see all these “positive” reviews. They sound like 💩, the microphone sounds like talking into a soup can, they move too much and break the anr seal and the wires are thin and twisting. Unloading them asap
Hello Philly Pilot - I see down below you mailed some of your arrival/departure cards to a user. Would they be available by email? Thank you Mark
Mark please send me you address and I will mail you a pad. Thanks for watching.. email to delidiver@gmail.com
Bose A30 is complete junk
Wow, it was good seeing you the other night, but I didn’t realize you sold hotel Yankee! Dang! Anyway, hope to fly with you soon, brother!
Nice video. Unfortunately the fisheye lens looking forward distorts ability to judge altitude on final. @~6:00 -- I used to fly out of Brookhaven (HWV) -- last time over 10 years ago -- I never remember NY Approach negotiating VFR handoffs with Providence, in either direction.
Do you have any of those handy note sheets you can send me? Been meaning to ask for a while
Sure. Send me your address!
@@phillypilot P.O. Box 2 lynchburg va 24505. Thanks
13:41 great review thanks. Just a tip you can plug in a headset into the copilot spot and use that headset while you're swapping out the pilot side's headset. lol
Yes yes yes - I know but I thought it would be funny to do it like a crazy person 😜. Thank you for watching!
Ok, you might live in Philly but no way you’re from there. Your English is too good !
That is too funny! Yes-born and raised here. Thanks for watching!
Pro tip on the Clarity Alofts: if they're damp, they slide in much easier - you can essentially skip the part where you pull back your ear with the other hand, and simply slide them in. How you get them damp, is up to you - I've seen higher and lower "ick factor" approaches. But, getting them well into the ear is key: whenever you see a review that says they don't cancel noise as well as the Bose, you have a reviewer who didn't get them well seated in the ear.
First - Thanks for watching and your pro tip is a great one! I cant wait to try, although I will go with "lower ick" way 😎
I like the headset, but I wish they did better with the carrying case. It looks nice, but feels cheap. And I wish they had at least a small pocket on the exterior backside. The bigger the better... like the A20 case.
Been using earbuds on my motorcycles for over twenty years; silicone is the way. Maybe a tiny bit less attenuation, but no fiddling or cross embedded earwax. Great comparison. Also, Clarity mic sounded exactly same as A20
Bought the A30 for my first headsets and tried from friend of mine, who is CFI, A20 we noticed that noise canceling is better in A30 (C172N). Comfort is better and weight a slightly lighter. Still I am so happy with my A30.
Great, informative video. As a pilot who's been absent from flying for a few too many decades, I've got my Special Issuance 3rd Class "in progress." If all goes well, I'll be shopping for a headset in the next few months. Had a chance to try the A20's in a friends 172 and they were comfortable, and the ANR worked great, that being said they're also $1095. Recently I was able to put a pair of the DC One-X on my head, and they were very comfy and "only" $895. I live in the Phoenix area, there's just nowhere where I can don different headsets to determine what feels best on my head.
I can hear the engine more in the DC. I’m glad I have the A20s
‘Centreline is for professionals’ would make a great t-Shirt 🙂
You seem like two very nice people. Thanks for the advice !
Thanks for watching Jerome!
@@phillypilot Any recommandation for (affordable?) thin sunglasses to not break the seal of the headset maybe ?
@@jeromehugues I love the Method Seven pilot glasses - thin and light. Look for 20% off deals - they have them often
Nice video. I like the G6 SR20. Have to look into Blue Bell for my intro flight I'm planning in the next week or so. I want to train in a sr20 but hadn't considered Wings until this video. the A20 vs 30 was good info too.
How bout tree3 scroll flight
I am a Jump Pilot, bare bone C182. Zero Sound proofing in the aircraft itself. I am debating to invest in a ANC Headset, but I am also very curious about the Clarity Aloft. I get in and out of the airplane every 20min all day long. I do about 15 flights a day average 5-6 days/week. I wonder if the earbud style are good for my environment, how would the earbuds themself hold up, how fast do they expand? Are they mostly designed for quieter/larger aircrafts?
Definitely not limited to quieter aircraft- used properly they are noticeably quieter than the Bose - but I think it could be pretty tedious putting them on and taking them off 15 times a day. It takes maybe 20-30 seconds to put them on, compared to "throwing on" a standard headset.
Flashpass is the best
I agree 100%! Thanks for watching.
Hi, I so appreciate this video. This is going to be one of my top destinations.
Great vid thanks for posting! Gotta love it when folks on the ground want to chat about stuff that you can do AFTER LANDING.... I'm sure you would have rather spent all of your attention on your 4 person xwind landing :)
100% correct- although my mediocre landing wasn’t his fault 😭. Thanks for watching Shane.
I kept looking for the field! I heard you call short final and couldn't see the runway until I heard the 500 call. Nice flight brother! Philly Pilot!
Thanks Russ
Another great flight. Looking forward to seeing the new plane.
Beautiful flight.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the overview..lol. Been flying with the new LightSpeed Delta Zulu’s and have to say their new sound noise reduction tech and all things audio and add in the safety factor of the Carbon Monoxide sensor the winner are these in my humble option…
I am going to have to try those out. Thanks for watching!
Congrats..would love to have ur bird…but the drum roll question now is what’s the new bird coming sir? Anticipation lol
Sad....but happy for the future!
Great video. If you stop in Rochester again. I would love to see the plane. I am entering my journey into flying.
Good luck Mitch - you are going to love flying! Unfortunately I just took my last flight in 18HY yesterday as it is now sold...not to worry though, my new SR22 is due in this summer and I will definitely let you know when I am heading your way. I am up there regularly as I do several Angel Flights through ROC. Thanks for watching and good luck again with your new adventures!
Bose requires to change their ear seals every 100 hour or once a year or the noice reduction changes they cost about $35.00 so less the. The clarity. So the Cost to buy 6 changes of Clarity tips is less. As far a total noice reduction the clarity tips are used in the Black Hawk
Cool that you’re at LOM. One of my former schools locations are there. I got my private and had to stop for now. But will be picking another school. Cool plane. Fly safe! I’m close to ILG if you need a second seat.
After 5hrs with the A20s on my head, the pain is real. I'm going out and buying some Alofts today and giving them a shot. The choice between original, Pros, and Flex... no idea ;-)
I have the pros and love them. My wife has the originals and they are fine as well (I have used them too). I cant speak for the flex but as far as the other two I like the pros. Thanks!
Do you have any videos or can you do a video about the difference of a yoke and a stick and which do you prefer and why?
I have not done any videos with center stick vs yoke. I have had limited experience with center stick (mostly in Diamond Aircrafts) and have no issue with them when flying. I am so used to the yoke and I think for longer legs the yoke being out of the way is more favorable.
Have you tried the Bose in ear headphones?
Yes - I have the first generation Bose pro-ears. I think they are great for either jets or even a turboprop like the pilatus, but they are still too loud for single engine pistons in my opinion. Thanks for watching :)
Just found your channel and I’m hooked and now a fan! I’m from PA currently on the road to getting my license! I’ll have to check out your deli one weekend I make it back home!
Where do you get the Arrival & Departure cards you use?
I made them - Send me your address and I will mail some to you. Thanks for watching

Primland was great! It is like going to a 5 star camp for adults. Sorry to hear about your bird. We have a few on our field down as well. Apparently it is about a 18-20 hour deal and the ones done at our field had no issues. Good luck with it.

What a beautiful area! Thanks for watching.
I love my bose but their mic is just too treble heavy i think.. when i record videos with it, i tend to adjust the sound to diminish treble. Just my 2c. Great video!! Thank you!
I agree with you! Thanks for watching
I’m curious, how many bags did it take to arrive at this one?
Great question Pace. I actually ran out of fingers and toes counting but I can assure you that even though I LOVE this bag….it won’t be my last 😎
Unbelievable that you can fit all that in one bag. I'd like to know more about your camera setup in the SR22.
I actually forgot to mention my iPad mini as well….thanks for watching Nathan. Good question and I will do a quick video on my setup, but I use 2 GoPro 10s (one on my window looking at screens and the other on copilots side facing us) and a GoPro 8 on the front window. I use an N Flight audio cable hooked to on of the 10s and usually back it up with a Tascam audio recorder with a lavalier mic in my headset.
