I am part of the team she built!!! Effie is the best!!! I miss you!
💕 awwwh miss you too!!! Thanks for watching!
I love this!❤ I’m so happy that you are enjoying your journey!
Exciting but sometimes scary!! 😱 but once I publish a video regardless of how it does it’s a win for me and not letting my ego stop me! 💪🏽
Great video and advice Effie. I’m not laid off, but I’m going to start doing your tip of writing down the top three things I need to accomplish each day. So often, I get to the end of my workday and I can’t remember what I’ve accomplished. I think this will help me feel - and be - more productive. Thanks for all your great advice! ❤
Yes!!! Jotting down 3 must-dos helps keeps focus on what matters most! Good luck!
great idea... congrats on your new path
I’m excited about the possibilities!!! Thank you!!
This woman got laid off in her late 30 early 40 during pandemic. She started cooking and selling food for catering and now she is doing very well. She got a lot of private catering orders for weekends. If I get laid off, I probably will not look for a corporate job. I will do something what make me happy and enjoy and more time for myself. Good for your positive attitude.
Thank you for your comment!! So many possibilities and looking at the world in a different way can be scary but also exciting!!
This is really encouraging. Thank you!
Thank you!!😊
Leaning and moving are always a great way to start a day. Great reminder!
Thanks!
This will be helpful for a few of my friends who recently lost their jobs. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Getting organized is just great advice -- period. I'm probably not getting laid off soon but I think I'll put time in my schedule to organize some aspect of my life.
Definitely don't need to be laid off to get organized😆- little steps at a time, see if it works, tweak to fit your life! Good luck!
Love this!
Thank you!!!
Great tips! Wish I had the wherewithal to have thought about these things three and a half years ago when I was laid off.
Thanks for watching! I feel like we tend to go on automode when stuff like this happens!
Thanks for your video. You are easy to listen to. I hope you can find a better microphone. :^)
Thank you!!! Yea looks like I was using my AirPods to record and I’m pretty sure my editing was a little rough 😆. Working on that!!!
Great job. I've been tracking my glucose for over a year. I started to check my ketones about 3 months ago as I've gotten serious with a keto/carnivore diet and I'm seeing my fasting BG down to 75 from 85-90 and ketones are .5 -3.0 . Most importantly I feel very energetic and better all-round and I've lost 66 lbs in 8 months.
So awesome!!!
hi, does the tracking device that you use provide accurate result? what tracking devices do you use?
@@1litreTearz for continuous glucose monitors I've used both Dexcom6/7 and Freestyle Libre 2/3 - I usually like to check it at least 24 hours after I activate it to see if I need to calibrate it - I usually only do this if the number seems higher or lower than usual. I calibrate using a finger stick and follow directions by device - it usually doesn't need to be changed more than 10+/-. But if I'm focusing on ketones and GKI, I use a keto mojo - so I will test both blood glucose and ketones - but I usually only check it right before I break a fast (before first meal of the day). Ketomojo GKI+ supposedly doesn't use calibration - it's been a while - so need to look into that.
@@JustEffie Thank you so much for the information! it’s very informative! May I know how you meet your fat target on keto?
I have to say I'm not great at tracking it. I tend to eat fattier cuts of meat (steak, pork - like bacon or pork shoulder/butt). I make chimichurri with EVOO, use butter or ghee to cook with. I still cycle in some carbs and I'm not always in ketosis. My goal is to be metabolically flexible where I can flex back to ketosis relatively fast. Eating more fat I think is the hardest when trying to go keto - unlearning decades of being told that fat will make us fat. I hope that helps!
Love these easy tips!
Thank you!
@@JustEffie New suscriber here! Great tips on savory breakfast to control glucose. How many eggs do you have, and what brand of can salmon is that? Any tips on lunch or dinner foods?
@@nanapoku5259 thanks for your questions! It depends on what I think I’ll be eating the rest of the day. If I’m eating breakfast- knowing I’ll have lunch and dinner later then I’ll have 2-3 (usually 3). If it’s later in the day because I’ve been fasting - I’ll have 4-5 with plans for more protein later.
Salmon!!! I buy the Whole Foods brand wild-caught or sockeye. As for the sardines- in case you’re interested it’s the Bela brand!
@@JustEffie Oh okay got it. I like the fact that you priotize protein. Your avocado with salt & pepper, boiled eggs and salmon breakfast is so cool. I need to try that. I went to the grocery store yesterday looking for some wild caught salmon in a can at Walmart, but was not lucky. Let me ask you this- do you occasionally eat some bread (not white), and if you do, what kind?
Hah! I am adding this too Effie!🎉
Another brilliant idea Effie! I too have a fam history of type lol. Thank you will look into this.
Thank you! We got to do what we can!
Love the avo w/olive oil s&p idea! Will try that today at break-fast time❤
Try it with an egg 🥚 but I skip the toast! Despite eating it with protein and fats my glucose will elevate higher than I like!
Brilliant advice! Get movements in! Thank you, new sublime!
Great tips! Thank you

Great tip! I wish I could be consistent with this.
Tiny steps! Awareness first and start where you can!
what if you're vegan and carbs are life??
great question! leafy greens, protein rich sources (quinoa, amaranth, etc) can go first, but would go with the higher glycemic vegetables or starches at the end. The goal is to blunt the glucose spike so that your insulin levels don't go so high that it takes longer to get back to burning fat. Each person has to find the right balance for themselves in terms of macros that keep them lean. But keep in mind, being lean by itself isn't an indicator of good health.
What a great tip. I’m definitely going to do this!
Thank you!!

Lowering added sugars from our diet is a great place to start!
Love these tips! Especially the picture taking instead of a food log!
Thank you! Yes the typing in food details is a lot of friction for me... 😆
Does it hurt coming out?
No it doesn’t hurt to remove it. I’d suggest to remove it while in a hot shower. That’s the best way and if the patch cover is still on don’t pull it so much that it pulls the skin - that will only cause more irritation. After a hot shower and some oil around the adhesive helps.
Tiny habits couch! I like that a lot. I’m going to try that power pose first thing in the morning. Definitely great ideas on this video.
Thank you!! I hope you did give it a try! That tiny habit goes a long way through the day!

I love these tips. Short, simple and love Effie's soothing voice!
Thank you Sam!!!
Great tips! Very helpful and not a heavy lift.
Thanks Toni! Happy Holidays!
This is so simple and helpful. Especially during the crazy holidays. Thank you so much!
Thank you!!!
I didn’t think I could do it either! I got so stressed out about the needle (I have a history of fainting w ANY needle I meet, 😂). So I decided to wait til morning. I then watched a video where the person said it didn’t hurt at all, so I went ahead and applied it. No pain! (But lots of hyperventilating! 😅😅😅). Ok I guess I’m on my way to learning about blood sugar! Whew!
OMG Paige - I so feel you! It's crazy right?! 🤣... I've been using it on/off for over a year. And when I take a few weeks off, I get that feeling again and I watch this little segment to remind me - Effie you got to chill! Learning about your BG is a great step! Good luck!
wow!wow!wow! video...pls make more cgms insights videos!!
Thank you!!!
Great video.. Just getting started here. Thanks
Thanks so much!!! Happy to have you here and good luck!!!
Very informative ❣️ I assume this was worth the investment (pretty expensive)? I’m thinking about trying this 🙋🏻♀️ Thank you.
I’ve kept with it on and off for the last year. It’s worth the investment as long as you use the data and if you utilize the coaching info they provide… that said, I find it useful for better calibration of my diet and also found that the seasons also make a difference in my glucose levels … and I’ve used the cGM to adjust what I eat and when! Good luck and let me know how you do!
This is really helpful. I find that when I eat my only meal very early in the morning then go to work for my 12 hr shift that night I sleep like a baby. My problem is that when I do eat I tend to pig out. I’d hate to test my blood glucose then. Some day I will have the courage to.
How you break your fast is also important to continue to reap the benefits of that fast. Try eating some veggies first or proteins first. Also, if you're famished and overeating you may want to not fast for so long and eat sooner so you don't 'pig out' as you said. Do what you can and try making those little changes to see if that helps! Thanks for watching!
Great tips. Quite revealing actually. Thank you! I’ve also learned a lot watching your other videos 🙏
💕thank you!!!!
When you eat 2 slices of pizza, wouldn't that spike your glucose really high??? I eat lo carb and moderate fat, (almost 2 years now) when I eat 2 slices of pizza (very rare) and test my blood sugars, my sugars are in the 200's so I avoid pizza altogether and I'm not a diabetic!!
It depends … if I eat pizza to break my fast it will go higher than usual. But if I’m good and break my fast with some protein first and then eat pizza - for me - my BG doesn’t spike as much. I also sometimes drink ACV beforehand if I can plan ahead and that also seems to help with controlling the increased BG. Each person is different, but if mine spiked really high I would do the same and avoid it or eat the smallest slice and then go for a walk!
@@JustEffie Thanks for the Tips and thanks so much for replying to my comment. 😊
@@arroyobaby38 good luck and keep me posted!!!
@@JustEffie -Thank you and Definitely!!
Hi there, What's the difference between this and the Nutrisense CGM?
If you buy I think at least a month of Nutrisense you get a registered dietitian coach - so if you don’t know much about blood glucose and you have spikes and dips - the coaches there can help educate and guide! Visuals and how to log are different- so that’s preference. Nutrisense visuals are more clinical looking but they’ve made adjustments to make it easier to read. They also have an experiments feature which helps you filter and slice/dice data. Hope that helps!
@@JustEffie -Oh ok. I’m looking into the NUTRISENSE , SIGMOS and LEVELS. I’m on the waiting list and thats ok. I’m still undecided which one I want to go with anyway. Thanks for responding Effie 😊
Great video! In the country I live in, Nutrisense and Levels services are not available, but you don't need a prescription to buy a CGM. I "installed" mine last night. I intermittent fast (breakfast + lunch). I eat lots of vegetables and avoid processed foods, but I am neither vegan nor low carb. I am now just looking at my CGM data, and looking at how my blood glucose reacted to breakfast. My blood tests at the doctor's office, imply that I am borderline hypoglycemic, but the data from the CGM is completely different. As you said, this is such a game changer. I got the CGM in spite of my doctor's advice, since they are only indicated for diabetics, but when I show my doctor the data, I'm sure he'll be surprised. My night-time glucose was super low (shocker) but my glucose level when I woke up was higher than it ever was when I got blood glucose lab numbers. I've been doing exercise, intermittent fasting, working on my gut microbiome and trying various diets such as low carb for a couple of years now and I've gotten much healthier, in terms of weight, body fat, blood pressure etc. But I had no idea that my blood glucose levels fluctuated so wildly. I'd *LOVE* to have access to a nutritionist like you do with Nutrisense. (I saw an interview with Nutrisense's founder, and she was brilliant). My doctor is a good person and a specialist in diabetes, etc. but I'm sure I would get much better advice from one of Nutrisense's nutritionists. Thanks again for sharing, and now that it's been a while since you posted this video, it would be interesting to see a one-year follow-up? Are you still using the device? Are your blood glucose levels super stable now? What are the hacks that you use to remain in the optimal zone?
Thanks Karl! That’s super fantastic you plan to share your data with your doctor! In the last year I’ve worn one on and off. I’ll usually take a couple of weeks to 1 month off. I’ll share some of what I learned in a future video - and to answer your question- yes my BG levels are much more stable!
@@JustEffie I've doubled my GCM experience since I wrote that message! (LOL). I have two meals and some exercise BG data now. It's such a big difference between knowing what people says happens and actually measuring my own numbers. For example, after my huge glucose spike after breakfast, I had a 30-minute walk and I could see it going down almost literally "before my eyes." But then when I stopped walking, it bounced back up again.... I feel there is so much I can learn from this data that I couldn't know just from reading books and watching UA-cam videos. Looking forward to your update! Thanks again.
@@karlint39 isn’t it amazing! And everyone is a bit different so seeing YOUR data YOU can make adjustments that wouldn’t necessarily be available in a book/article! Keep going!
@@JustEffie With just over 2 weeks under my belt (on my arm?) I am a few days into my second sensor. I was a bit shocked to find out that the readings I get on the second sensor are about 20-30 points higher than what I was getting on my first sensor. I know the accuracy is given as +/- ~10% but in my experience the readings went up after eating and down after that (and at night) so it's not as if each reading is totally random. But I was shocked to see such a big difference between the two sensors. I called Abbot and explained (I've heard that they are happy to replace a faulty sensor) but I was told that the readings I was getting were "within the product specifications" so just because they are off by 20 points, it's not any kind of malfunction. The directionality of the readings is still helpful, but I realize that data from one sensor cannot be compared with data from a second sensor. I was a bit surprised and disappointed, but I think that is the limits of the technology now. Maybe in the future there will be devices that are more consistently accurate.
@@karlint39 yes it can be a shocker for sure to see the range increase with a new sensor. You could calibrate the sensor as well by taking a finger prick reading waiting 15 min and compare to the sensor - but if you don’t have a BGM etc the trend is still useful! Good luck with your second sensor!
Hi Effie! I am so glad to have found your channel😀 I am also a low carb IF’er trying to reduce my pre diabetic BG markers. I also use keto mojo and really want to explore the CGM for more timely data about my food choices. Heard about the Nutrisense on Dr. Mindy’s channel, and I’m actually sitting here with it in my cart, ready to check out, but the prices and subscriptions are a little daunting. Came to YT for some user experiences and (thankfully) found you! I am ready to move forward! I know the information gathered will be priceless😀. The one month fee is not feasible for me- was thinking of a 3 or 6 month to start if it worked well. Now I’m convinced that it does. Quick question for you if you don’t mind-how long of a subscription did you initially try, and was it easy to extend? Thank you again for sharing your results! New subscriber😀!
The CGM is a great tool. Yes Nutrisense is a little more pricey and I would give them a try especially in the beginners they have a registered dietitian available to you. It’s a great way to learn more about what’s going on with your BG. There are other apps available too that I’ve recently tried that might be more cost effective.
@@JustEffie I took the plunge! Just applied it💕🙏🏾
@@chyla1 good luck! I put on a new one today too!
