I use Critter Control company for animal incursions, but it sounds like you may have to poison the neighbors. I was 13 when my dad took me to a pawn shop and got a black Harmony Montclair archtop. It had a long crack on the back. It was way too big for me, and I'm sure the action was terrible. I played that until my fingers bled. The first songs I learned were "High Heel Sneakers" and Rufus Thomas's "Walking the Dog".
@TooLooze Thanks for the info, and that Harmony Montclair sounds like a cool old guitar. I am going to Google a pic of one . thanks again!
Hey Jake! My cousin had the very same problem with the rats. He went to his lunch call animal shelter and they had a whole collection of feral cats! He brought a couple home and gave them a decent place to live under his porch. The rats disappeared. Some shelters here in Maine have fixed feral cats. Get a couple females. Like lions the females are prolific killers!
@@DBMorris Thank you for the info 🙏. All options are on the table at this point . thought about dragging a halfstack under the house and crank it ! those things are no joke!
THANKS FIR THE INFO ..
Why convert to a 2-point tremolo?
@newsycpl it is a smoother trem system in my opinion.
@@guitarhoarder1972 It’s not bad, but have you tried those black springs with the vintage tremolo? Those springs are longer and have less tension, so you can take advantage of the beveled block. They make all the difference in smoothness.
@newsycpl I have tried the black springs, which are an improvement . I find the two point trem helps with tuning issues if you are using the bar a lot . I honestly prefer a hard tail strat nowadays as I get older and my playing style changes. Thanks for the view and the nice comment. Jake
Play one of those es 335 behind you through the 25r. It’d sound less like an ice pick

@@guitarhoarder1972 The wife is having a needed surgery the first week of February. After she's recovered maybe we'll head to Maine in the Spring or Summer, to aid in her recovery. Regarding that "Pennsylvania Polka" tray, my parents visited Kelleys Island in Lake Erie in 1955 when I was aged 3. It was there that I sat on the lap of the composer of that ditty, Frankie Yankovic, America's Polka King and my father's hero. You have your father's guitars, I have my father's instrument, his accordion. And before you ask, no, I can't play it.

@@A-Wall Thanks! I am looking for a cheap tele or something to relic soon. I have had a lot of requests, so I will try to come up with something and show you guys my approach to relic work .
Go Sox
You’re so right about how much easier it is to find information on tunes and UA-cam. I always tell people, “search any song with the word Guitar after it and Wah Lah somebody is there showing you exactly how to play the song.” Incredible. And on a tv on our phone. That’s wireless. Can take anywhere. Haha. Yep. I’m old.
@gnawbabygnaw I'm old too. kinda proud of it at this stage. lol
Sounds fat and sweet there brother. Thanks. Nice 🤙🤙
I have a Squier Strat.2008. I am trying to get a Fender Tele. Are they better than the Squier? P,S. I subscribed. You are a great teacher.
thanks for the kind words. I own both squier tele and usa and also mex. I guess I look at it like this, the squier stuff usually needs set up work and sharp fret ends etc. the mex and usa stuff is usually set up better, but not always. I think the best advice I can offer is, try them out in person . if you like to tinker and want to learn how to do set up work and file frets etc. , then try a squier. I have played some squiers that were good out of the box, too. I prefer to play a guitar in person usually, but since I do this type of repair work it's not a big deal and I like the price and savings . hope this helps. Thanks for the sub too! Jake
Those 180s are really good sounding guitars, but so often have high action. Worth fixing up for sure.
the sound demo is at 13:22
I lost most of the repair work video . My apologies. lots of talking and troubleshooting .
I used to have a neighbor who had two of these guys. The miserable SOB left them outside, winter and summer, regardless of how cold or hot it got. He was an idiot who once started a fire in his backyard with magnesium in the middle of the night. My daughter called the fire department on him. I have an Oliver, too, only he's Yorkshire terrier sized.
How did you do the crazing on your Tele? Freezing? Very impressive.
@jltrem feezing, heat, razor blade. etc. I will do a vid soon
@@guitarhoarder1972 Gee, I didn't think freezing worked on poly. I'm not really a relic guy when it comes to my own guitars. If I put a ding in one I have to go to bed for a week.
How a guitar sounds depends on how you play and the acoustics in the room where you play on it, the amp, if you use a pick, how soft or stiff it is and what it is made out of or if you fingerpicking and how your fingers interact with the guitar. I think both guitar sounds great I got one of them too I gave it to myself as a Christmas gift, they where on sale so it was a lot of guitar for very little money lol..
@@BurninSven1 I agree, a lot of factors involved. that's why i hate comparing guitars. I was asked to do this shoot out. lot of bang for yur buck.

@rexmasters1541 Hahaha.. I looked at your channel. You have no videos ! Post a video of your bursts so we can all see them. I have probably given away more guitars than you have owned. thanks for the view. now troll on!
Enjoyed that shootout. When you do your relicing video I hope you can use the squire panted black. I have two squire telecasters in black and the paint is thick. I got the loaded bodies only and they have some big dings in them. I was thinking of relicing them instead of full repaint.
@dane6k6 thank you. I will see what I come up with for a guitar to relic. I do have a cheap Ibanez in black, that could be a candidate. ty for the view and nice comment.
I think someone did some work to that guitar previously , there even seems to be dry glue marks in the neck pocket .
@davew9360 just handed it back to the owner a few minutes ago and asked him if it was new when he bought it. He ordered it from ams or musicians friend but it was new . took the neck off mine and it had only 4 holes for the neck and no extra. not really sure ?
RIP John Sykes tone monster on 78 LP Custom.
@@Csharpflat5 Yes indeed! Sad to hear of his passing. He was a great player!
Based solely on cost expense versus tonality, quality sturdy construction, flexibility of “genre” , nothing comparable to a decent Telecaster. You can spend more on other designs but the subtle differences in tone are mainly only appreciated by nerds and snobs such as me self, IMHO RIP Garth Hudson
You are 100% correct in my opinion. Just heard about Garth Hudson. R.i.p. #theband
The old tele sounded a little snappier, probable due to the neck cover removal. Great job on the comparison!
@TooLooze They are pretty close, honestly . They feel almost identical in the hand. mine feels more broke in, but that is just preference. ty for the opinion ! Jake
