Found an injured one while walking my dog in Santa Ana 🍊 California. I picked it up by its wings and it never played dead I placed it on a flower and next morning the wings were wide opened and it was completely still now I’m here to see if it is playing and I’m very sad to see when playing they don’t spread their wings 🥺
😊
I've very rarely seen those butterflies. I mostly just see the Carolina Grasshoppers that look similar to those when in flight (hence one of their nicknames being the "Butterfly Grasshopper").
Where is it in America But great video
But are they in utah
That's great
No spiders are poisonous🤪 you had a gaffe anyway cool video
Man those tigers are slick!
I got a morning cloak too, and I did it too and it actually did it
Butterfly bush is an invasive foreign plant that outcompetes natives plants in the wild and is not a host plant allowing our native butterflies/moths to reproduce. It should not be recommended. Joe pye weed, anise hyssop, NY ironweed…there are many noninvasive native alternatives
Thanks for a very informative video. My wife and I are raising monarchs in Australia, and there’s very little reliable information available locally. All the best! 👍
Seen one at the gas station and a girl said wow! What a beautiful moth then stomped on it and walked away. I was dumbfounded
What will happen to the moth you cut out of the cocoon? Did you kill it for the video?
I was accosted by mourning cloak butterflies for over 2 years after my fiance passed way. I'd never seen one before or heard of it. I googled it by its appearance. Suddenly they were spiraling around me when walking our dog, going out onto my deck, the first one landed on my deck when i was crying.believe me when I tell you also, they would find me everywhere! They would land on the parking lot, the sidewalk, on and on. Spiral around me sometimes from feet to head. That was 9 years ago. Now my father died 3 months ago, I have not seen those butterflies in years. I'm in the same area out in nature as always. Yesterday while walking the dog 2 of them accosted us , flew around us and landed and sat on the sidewalk several times and followed us. 😮
I have cecropias in my yard and I’ve spun their silk. The silk was a beautiful dark gold.
You should make a cool intro man I’m a new subscriber pls pin me!
I tried to hold a butterfly but it flew away fast :(
This video is great, continue making these❤
I work in a childcare center and everyone knows I love bugs, especially moths. Last week I got a call in the staff lounge from one of our teachers to come to her room. One of these moths was outside the window, just hanging out. It had looked injured so I went to take a look at it, and it took a few minutes before it would start to move. It crawled all over me, until it decided to take off. When I turned back around, I saw her eggs on the window sill. I took 5 out of seven of them home. I’m waiting on them to hatch now. I’m on day 5. Waiting for 5 more days, then I know they will hatch.
Did they hatch?
Thank you for sharing this.
Make more content, please.
Interesting! Just filmed one on my hand yesterday! 😊
I recently saw a butterfly with just stubs of its wings left and some how its still able to fly please explain this to me and thank you.
My parents lied to me !!!! you can hold them without killing them.
What do sunflowers and Jessamine Carolina atteact? Hiw di O atteact the purple butterflies?
Why are they barefoot though?
I have an injured butterfly and I tried one of these and it worked! I have trouble holding her as she only has one wing and three legs and the only wing she has is damaged. I am now able to safely help her from the healthy butterflies trying to play with her and being able to feed her. Thank you!
We get them every year, we get one or two and that is it.
*have I been pronouncing it wrong this whole time*
Is it the norm to find red droplet marks coming from the chrysalis??
Nothing horrible about a mother looking after her...200 or so kids.
BACK IN 1960 AS A 10 YR. OLD LIVING IN SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA., I GATHERED TOGETHER HEAPS OF MOURNING CLOAK CATERPILLARS AND PUT THEM INTO A TERRARIUM AND FED THEM LOTS OF THE WILLOW LEAVES FROM THE TREE I HAD FOUND THEM ON...SO MANY WERE IN THERE THAT I COULD ACTUALLY HEAR THEM EATING! WATCHED THE ENTIRE METAMORPHOSIS PROCESS AND WHEN THEY EMERGED FROM THEIR COCOONS, THEY WOULD FEARLESSLY CLIMB ONTO MY HAND...I WOULD THEN SIT ON THE FRONT PORCH STEPS AND WATCH AS THEY PUMPED UP THEIR WINGS IN THE SUNLIGHT AND THEN FLEW AWAY. SIGH. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE MEMORIES! WANTED TO BE AN ENTOMOLOGIST, BUT MY MATH SKILLS SUCKED, SO NEVER HAPPENED. LOVE YOUR VIDEO BTW!

Thanks for this info. I am raising monarchs but the problem is when I bring the cage outside and open the door, the butterfly doesn’t leave. He will go try and hide in the corner. He’s not sick or anything and he can fly in the cage. Now he just needs to fly away and enjoy his life.
I have a cocoon on one of my bushes.. can I remove it from the bush and put it in a safe place outdoor and watch it come out of the cocoon? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
This made me save a butterfly from inside an office.you made my day!❤
I found a damaged mourning cloak unable to fly a week ago in San Diego. I have been caring for it for a week with water fruit and flowers. He hasn’t moved in almost a day but he is alive. Is he trying to hibernate? Would love advice on how to care for him.
Such an amazing creature! I loved that natural goggles he got on. Fascinating!
I'm 65 years old and live in upper east Tennessee. Never in my life have I ever seen one of these until yesterday. I had went to my 86 year old moms for a visit. We were in her back yard looking at her flowers when she noticed something had been eating her lilac bush leaves. She started looking and said what in the world. Biggest Caterpillar I've ever seen. In a way it was creepy looking and in a way in was amazing. Its huge eyes and big horns. It was longer than my finger and just amazing. I looked it up on google to see what it was my mom wanted me to kill it but no way. I put on gloves, put it in a jar and took it to a wooded area and let it go. Enjoyed seeing this so much. I have some wonderful pictures.
Getting to the time of year where lots of butterflies are getting into our house and I want to let them out safely, thank you for this
They are wonderful! But you killed one just to look inside??? 😒
It didn't get killed, the moths can still emerge fine without their cocoons.
I’m watching this video 5 years after it was posted. Think how many descendants of that mother spider are out there today.
I always play outside and find butterfly and i catch it also caterpillars
Thank you so much for this QUICK and informative video. I accidentally left four monarchs chrysalis in my house. I want to make sure after I went there the trouble of growing them this far they are able to still be healthy butterflies when I release them.
Hi the butterfly farmer I want to ask you that I don't have one of those butterflies but I do have my own butterfly and it's always lying down.
Good to know how to do it right, if necessary, but I wish that unless it's for some conservation purpose, people would observe but not touch animals as much. As humans I think we often feel our enjoyment or entertainments is more important than their desire to live safe, natural, and unbothered by us. It would be nice to teach our children to observe, take photos, study, but not to capture and play with wild creatures.
Doesn’t the fermented fruit attract raccoons and rats?
Very informative 🦋🦋🦋🦋
Cat and dog who play dead: are you kidding me butterfly play dead too
I found an adult regal moth today
I'm a butterfly phobic but what type of swallowtail is that?
