Korg Grandstage X , Stage Piano Review.
Hello, good channel and I’ve not watched all the video yet. Many years ago, I owned a Korg i3 and yes, it was very good though not the most user-friendly. I’m hoping Korg are more user-friendly nowadays and what I’m wondering, like the Korg i3, does the 16 track midi sequencer allow you to copy and paste measures of each individual track for instance, if you’re creating a drum track, bass track with so many measures, can you then copy these measures and paste them rather than having to record an entire track all the way through?
@bestrickie2 you can do that on the sequencer, but it's much easier to edit the whole thing in DAW.
What kind of stand are you using for 3 tier ?
@@funguy29 standastic
wow nice rug
So can you honestly say that the Nautilus sound is just as good as the Kronos sound?? …it’s not. People love the sound of the Kronos. We don’t care about the workflow…they make MPCs for that. They should have just made a sound module with a Kaos Pad. That’s all we need it for!
Is this real?
@@Mauroayuda yes it is!
Does it have all the D-50 sounds?
Yes it does
What just happened?
So, it looks like 3.1.3 became 3.2..
Beautiful sounds.
Hi! Genos vs Montage where the sounds better?
@@MadiKurmanbayev-op4wf Montage has better sounds
Korg has lost their way in the high-end workstation game. Fantom and Montage are way ahead because Korg let the Nautilus languish without a full update or replacement. It had virtually no knobs or faders and the GUI was meh. And yet Korg did a fantastic job with the Pa5x which in my opinion is the best and most forward thinking keyboard they make. The GUI on the Pa5x is the best Ive ever tinkered with -- very simple and color-coordinated to make finding and programming sounds and kits extremely easy. Its the one GUI you almost dont need to read a manual to figure out how to use. They needed to put that GUI in the new Kronos at the very least but with some updates for a workstation environment. Honestly Id spend a couple grand on a Native Instruments keyboard w/Komplete Kontrol rather than the new Kronos and save the money if you dont want hardware complication and want a PC to do some of the heavy lifting. Too many good alternatives to put $3500 towards. I love Korg, but I dont think the company has the same commitment to being a leader in the field that they use to have. Maybe its a money issue like Pentax trying to keep pace with Canon and Nikon.
@UDPride Completely agree, i have a pa5x and absolutely love it. Also, I used Native instruments, and it’s a really good substitute for workstations, especially when everyone is using DAW for music creation these days!!
Genos 2 vs montage , where the sounds better?
Does the Kronos 3 73/88 have aftertouch? There is no excuse for not having poly-aftertouch. My DW8000 from 1985 has aftertouch! When will they understand this?
@blueeyedsoulman it does have channel After- Touch not polyphonic.
So happy its back But Just wished they had increased the polyphony
Over £2500 for this - just buy a kronos 2 - near enough the same thing........
Solid !!! Does it have a drive or some , don't see it in the panel ...
I have a Kronos 88 and I love it. The Kronos successor should have new sound engines like the Opsix, Wavestate, Mod wave and the Mono\Poly. Keep everything else and make it easier to install new sounds with thousands of user patch banks.
I agree, that would be an awesome update!
Hello, Excuse me for bothering you, but maybe you can help me: Can you tell me how to set the length of a pitch lane sequence on the multi/poly sequencer? (by default it is set to 16 steps, I would like to set it to 64 steps) Thank you. Happy New Year to you!
Push the sequencer step button and change the value by value Knob next to the display.
@synth.s thank you i will try this tonight 👍
Hi, I've tried, but when I record (step record), at the end of the first step bank (A), it says "record complete". I would like to record step by step up to 64 steps...🙂
I have an MPC Key 61, Yamaha Montage M8X, and Kurzeill 2700 workstations. The Roland Fantom sounds to me, sound too sterile so I won't purchase one, but you can't argue it has an awesome workflow. I missed out on owning a Kronos 2 and don't like the Nautilus because of the removal of the controls. This is a dream announcement for me and the Kronos 3 will be welcomed to my workstation family.
@droidknight847 That's why I've already pre-ordered one. It's a great keyboard, Even though it's a very old design, it's still powerful and already a classic!
Each Keyboard brand has their strengths and weaknesses, and it’s all PERSONAL PREFERENCE there are no brands better than others… If you love a brand it’s because it fits your personal needs and likes…. Thanks for the video 🙏🏻
Totally agree! It's all about what works best for you.
Just buy the nautilus and use a usb controller for the extra knobs and sliders, as for karma learn how to play the fking guitar 🙄🤦♂️
Which usb controller do you advise? And how it works?
I look at things like this and remember clearly the feeling I'd get opening a musician's friend catalogue in '99/'00/'01... every month to see the MS2000/MS2000R.. the reason I like behringer is that I can open those catalogues and browse electronic gear.. difference being I don't have tears in my eyes (because when will I find the opp. to save that much dosh ?,, I need a car) but I have a smlle on my face anymore.. though it's bitter sweet, because I'm not fucking 19 anymore.. Behringer where were you when I needed you the most.. my cries fell on deaf ears.. nowadays the synths don't even need us anymore
I think it's very good that Korg will be making The Kronos again. I don't believe it has to be absolutely upgraded. It was excellent and playable in 2013 (or whenever the improved "New" Kronos was introduced), it should be excellent and playable now. Musical instruments are not like consumer electronics. Even professional electronics are nothing like consumer electronics. So, comparing the screen of the Kronos to an iPad screen, or a the Kronos Intel motherboards to ARM based motherboard, it's all pointless. Moog had reissued the Minimoog Model D twice already (2016 and 2022) and it is still a desirable musical instrument. Even if something else sounds exactly like the Minimoog, there's certainly nothing else that looks and feels like the Minimoog. Not even Voyager can touch the look and feel of the original Minimoog. It's a classic. Whether the Kronos is a classic, that's debatable. I, personally, quite like the route Korg chose with the Nautilus. The graphical user interface has been changed, and I think it is better. Sure, they should've kept cursor buttons and put a full size vector joystick on it, and have a better button switchgear, but other than those minor shortcomings, I must say that the Nautilus is rather perfect. But I am glad the the Kronos is back. I actually like it more than the Yamaha Montage or Roland Fantom. Will I buy it? I don't know. I think I might rather add $1,000 and get a Roland RD-2000 and JUNO-X. That could be an optimal keyboard setup for me. But that's me. The best thing is not to share one's personal preferences, because everyone has different one. I am only glad that Korg still makes instrument, so the fact that they are bringing back the Kronos is exciting news to me.
Korg also Made in Japan which I love.🎉
I don't believe they make Intel motherboards in Japan.
@@dvamateur most korg vlsi chips are Yamaha. Your statement makes no sense. Many American companies like Apple iPhone uses Sony lens and filter. In the end, iPhone is still American.
@ iPhone is made by Foxconn. Foxconn is a Taiwanese company, but most assembly is taking place in China, India, and Vietnam. Bringing some manufacturing to the U.S.A. might happen with 100% tariffs imposed by the new administration taking office on Monday. As far as Yamaha goes, only very few high end products are still made in Japan. That would include the Yamaha CFX grand pianos, which have been discontinued now, and Yamaha PHX series drums. All the rest of Yamaha products are manufactured in Indonesia and China. The vast majority (90%) of world's semiconductor components come from Taiwan.
They should have made a new synth by combing all the new synths like korg multi poly, wavestate, modwave, minilogue, microkorg etc plus pcm sample based engine with new outlook.....and if the Kronos 3 has the feature to add these synths through software like fantom then that will be okay
@@fahimdawer Totally agree
You said the montage M8x is far better than the Kronos. How so?… I’m a Kronos user, from what I’ve seen in all the demo videos of the montage M, there is nothing that keyboard delivers that would make me switch from Kronos to montage M. If anything, Yamaha barely caught up to the Kronos with the Montage M
I think the Montage M series has some great features.
I hope Luke is giving his best shot to let us hear the new sounds😊❤
Anyone who thinks this is Korg's last bet is wrong. You only need to look at the price to realize that this is the last Kronos to be released, a fact that more than pays off a marked debt to the users of this platform. The one that is going to disappear is the Nautilus. The next bet is to see with its sales if this platform is still valid to conclude with the next great workstation that will integrate much more than this proposal, it will come with the union of hardware with the software of a computer format, greater connectivity and the experience of the development of the synth that they have launched in parallel, such as the Wawestate for example. So this is the last and best version of the Kronos that we will see. The big difference between the Kronos and the others is that it allows you to sample whatever you want without limits, and to include that material with plenty of space so that you don't see your dependence on external equipment and the Internet limited. It's simply a workstation, and they are the creators of the workstation. Combining that with Roland's connectivity and expansion proposal would be ideal in my opinion, as it would give us the best of both worlds.
I was expecting to see a flagship model with built-in artificial intelligence capabilities for modeling presets, sounds, arpeggiators, and sequences. I wanted something new, not a well-forgotten old one. Sorry.
Go for Mac then
I hear you! I’m hoping for more groundbreaking features in future models.
It's good that Korg brought back the Kronos. I personally prefer the Nautilius, I think they were on the right track with the Nautilus. But in d***cratic popular vote, we're going to have the Kronos again.
It's almost like when Roland discontinued the Fantom G and released the FA, then later released the current Fantom (2019). Maybe Yamaha could bring back the Motif.
My guess is that the Kronos 3 will soon be in your collection, as you know it was and still is the best workstation out there. 😁
That's the plan!
I hope that korg finally realises that just a touch screen is not enough. You really need live controls i’m glad they did something about the boot time some korg keyboards had ridiculous boot times.
Kronos 3 too much for you? No worries, Bontempi is there for those who prefer... less intimidating keyboards. 😏🎹 KorgTheBest
Please update korg i3 software as well after 1.6
The question is does it have polyphonic aftertouch and mpe support
No
Let's be honest here. This keyboard is for people who did NOT have the Kronos and Kronos 2 previously before they were discontinued. That doesn't mean that you have to put them down by saying 'don't know why you would'. And also if other workstations are more superior, then why was the Kronos so popular? No offence intended but you couldn't be more wrong in this video. Just because you prefer other workstations like the Montage.
@jordanking7711 i totally agree with the first part of your statement. However, even the previous owners of kronos might still want this (if they prefer the kronos workflow) since this new version is definitely faster and enhanced in comparison with the old kronos, but overall, technology wise, The kronos is nowhere near Montage m8x, especially when it comes to FM synthesis or Acoustic sounds!
@@synth.sDifferent sounds. Korg will always have that classic Korg sound. Yamaha has more of that modern edge to it, but sometimes the classics are used for a reason. Just look at Michael Jackson and the classic "old gear" Casio's, Roland's that stand the test of time with the best songs we know and love. Newer doesn't necessarily mean better. I will definitely be buying this new Korg Kronos that is maintaining sounds from 15 to 20 years ago. I had more fun and inspiration with an old Roland workstation than the new Roland phantom workstation. Anywho can't wait for the weekend 😁
@@synth.sI am a Kronos user and a Montage user. I dont own the M. The M is more current in innovation, however the reason I have not bought one is the shear lack of sound libraries. You basically get whats in the machine. Now Kronos on the other hand has all other companies beat hands down simply for the vast libraries and the libraries are really dang good too. I own 2 kronos boards and sadly I will probably buy another one and make one of my older ones a backup. I too wish they had done more redesigning here, but I feel lost on stage without my kronos. My Montage is a backup and I have had to use it unfortunately and its just not the same. The sounds on the montage platform are very good in some areas, but for a wedding corporate band I just need more. Especially in the brass category. I have never run out of sound possibilities with my kronos. The innovation that yamaha put into the montage is really cool, but honestly on stage I dont think it would do me a bit of good. Kronos just works for live musicians. It was and still is a powerhouse and still the best most powerful board made for live performance.
@@dmoss1285I agree. It has intel Atom cpu most powerful cpu in keyboard form factor and in korg website you can buy near 40 thousand bucks sound packs available to buy from sound designers. So don’t take him serious. 😂
@@dmoss1285 During recent years of Kronos sales it costed cheaper than his counterparts.
Montage M is a wonderful workstation I own one but its not "far more superior" at all its just different.
Both keyboards are very powerful, with their own unique strengths.
You couldn’t be more wrong.
Dissapointing! Would rather spend money with Yamaha over this. M8X is a lot of fun.
I'm sure they have different strengths and weaknesses.
Apples vs oranges.
Well it doesn’t have a proper sequencer.

@synth.s thank you. Even if you go into the equaliser menu on the 5X and slide up the bass more?. I saw a video on this but as mentioned, sound not good and speaking Japanese so couldn't understand anyway.😊 Any recommendations on speakers for small room. Many thanks for your quick reply.👍🙏🇬🇧
@cliffbell3155 in comparison with Genos2 speakers that have a designated subwoofer, this korg sound bar doesn't have enough bass, but overall, it's ok.
Nice pressets
I don't understand...why make analog modeling when Korg already has the Minilogue XD analogue engine? Just put in 4 more analogue circuits, to have 8 voices. I don't accept a Raspberry P (a cheap general purpose processor) as a legitime "sound engine", lol. I mean, I would have loved to have a Minilogue 2 in this same chassi and layout but with real analogue circuits. (4 pieces in the XD) Great demo though, thanks!
Are you not realizing you are asking for Prologue?
Not easy to design an analog synth with 60 voices and all features present in Multi poly.
Cause Minilogue is monotimbral and even 8 voices can be limiting. With modern virtual analogue, the only reasons to stick to true analogue are nostalgia, elitism, and loving to pay more money for less features. The audience doesn't care about analogue vs. digital, the only people who will care are other synth nerds
@@KooriGraywolf I mostly agree, although if you just noodle with synths for your own pleasure, there is still distinct difference between how analogue and digital sounds and how it makes you feel on its own.
@@KooriGraywolf You can say what you want...but I often (not always) can hear a difference between a crappy Raspberry Pi synth (like this) and true (fizzling, bubbly) analogue synths. Somehow I find it unpleasant to listen to plastic raspberry Pi VA sounds...IF they can create a VST of this then it's a cheap VST synth, but then I can download a free sofware synth. Some people can master a VST well...but when I make MY stuff I hear the difference, the analogue synths have a great "presence" and impact/bandwith. And how mych time does it take to record multitracking...also I'm in no way of an "elitist", but have a sensitive hearing. 🙂
I just bought my Genos 2, and I’m happy with it. I really like it just a note. I think actually workstation keyboards like the montage and the Genos . I think these categories are probably gonna merge just I don’t know that they were but I just have an idea that I might do it.
Have reviewed the Nautilus with after touch yet?
Friend, the plugin has 16 parts, is there any way I can change the channel of each part, so I can route them within the DAW and control each one individually?
@@Sampleraudioevolution you should be able to select the channel part through your controller.
@synth.s I change the channel on the controller but the sound doesn't come out, the tones are all addressed to channel 1. I want to know where I can go to change the midi channel to another one that I want for each part.
Have considered this k&m and the QuikLok two tier but have not owned either type of models. I still use the conventional X stands by quikLok for gigging. thanks for your presentation.
Like no other. I’ve never owned korg gear but have owned and played on roland gear from the same era. Occasionally I see an m1 up for sale, but now the Nautilus AT looks and sounds endearing to me as a gigging keyboard. 🤔thanks for your post. 🎧🎹
