28 and 40mm.

1:45 What are you talking about? There have been lenses of all mm made since hand held film cameras were first invented. Voigtlander have been making 40mm lenses from the 60s, the Pentax 40mm was one of their most popular 35mm lenses etc. It's so frustrating when people discover a focal length for the first time and then act like no-one else has ever heard of it.

Bro, something wierd with your video sound. Sometimes it is STEREO sometimes is MONO

I sold it out, why? Very small and low res viewfinder, not silent electronic shutter, low res lcd panel, not working with other flash system, low fps for action, risky single card slot for pro projects.

I always love hearing how you see it and what you look for. I was using 50mm really heavily for a while, but I can totally see using 40 because it can work between somewhat wide and nearly portrait. Neat!

40mm is under rated mostly because manufacturers don't see it as a strong hold and give us some cheap shit. I had the Canon 40mm pancake it was cheap but easy to carry i'm glad Sony beef up this little lens, got 3 years with it and it still look brand new.

To each their own, I tried to like the 40mm but always tend to lean more towards the 35mm when I'm in that range. 50mm is an okay focal length but I would rather jump to 85mm generally. If I were going to grab an everyday focal length for walking out and about. I'd pick 35 or 85 depending on where I am going, but either would work just fine. My favorite is the 85mm though. The lenses for the 40mm are really cool for their size, I am glad people are able to enjoy them.

Good lens to take out with you on a walk. Little longer than a 35mm, shorter than a 50mm. Just right. Great sharp lens.

I just love it this video, but I can’t find it a reason for the primes if most of the pictures are taken in the day where you have enough light to deal with a slower aperture. Do you really think that you were losing that much off sharpness from having a zoom lens like the super sharp tamron 28-75 2.8? I don’t think I would love to hear your comments in a more technical view from this matter

What do you like about the 40 over just using a 35?

You far from failed Scott you nailed it. You have had some incredible journeys this year, and I have enjoyed following you on these. Just like you I was travelling in Japan 2 years ago, and we stopped by the side of the road as a fox came out. It had some young cubs so we fed it some dried pork. We were in the mountains during the summer. I feel your pain as I to have the same challenges. I make lots of content spread across multiple drives and havent gotten into the UA-cam grind. My channel is stagnant as I only post occasionally. Like you, I set myself a challenge to get my website up and running, and its close to publishing. Anyway cant wait to see where you go this year. If you ever swing by Shanghai again dm as this is home for me.

I live in Puerto Rico and has been my dream since i became a photgrapher back in 2018 to go there. Finally on march i will be able to.

I have been to Miyajima a couple of times, back in the 80's when I was in the Marine Corps and stationed in Japan. Very cool to see it from todays perspective (I know, you did this a year ago). So much is still the same... and yet so much has changed. I wish I was more than just a Marine who was a total newbie novice photo bug back then, as compared to what my Photography is today. I think about ALL of the missed opportunities to shoot while I was there back then. Thanks for uploading, was a nice little travel back in time for a now, old, Marine. LOL :) P.S., Seeing all the deer still around made me smile!
