    Dear Stevie, you are such a fun person to watch. I enjoy very much that you seem to approach topics differently (at least compared to me). You live a completely different life which is very intriguing to me. 😊 However, I feel it is partly pretty hard to watch your videos due to the many cuts when you present something. And sometimes, the background music is so loud I can barely understand you. 😢 Hope you are not hurt by this - and to see more of you!

      Thank you so much for taking the time to give me some ❤ and feedback. That feedback is super helpful to me and I really appreciate you providing it. Few people have the courage to do that and it’s incredibly valuable to me. I will tweak the background music. As for the cuts, I may need to do more voice overs to keep my videos short enough. I will always welcome your feedback, in fact, it feels like a kindness and care 🙏🏼

    Oh feeling this. I have been looking at wolf and mullet haircuts over the last month and was so so tempted to try it, even though I am an older woman. However I have tried it many years ago and it was the worst pain to style and never looked right! I think was also just a bad cut the way she did it based off of the next hairdresser I saw who said the only way to save it was to go short. Which I did. Thank you for this video you may have saved me. I am not one to fuss with my hair. You did the right thing constantly thinking about it is just too much. Peace.

      I am glad this video helped! Ha ha! That mullet felt so awful, looking back on it, it didn’t look as bad as I thought, but you have to realize I didn’t get on camera until I felt it was somewhat tolerable, so that’s as good as it ever was. I had this fantasy that I was that cool girl, but I don’t have the wardrobe or the street scene lol! I live in a log cabin in the middle of the woods and I wear mostly bathing suits and boots 😂😂😂 Yeah… think carefully about the mullet. My hair is in a long bob now and I love it, no layers, looks fine no matter what. I am glad that I finally cut my super long hair though. I really like it shoulder length.

    Did you know that eating berries everyday can reduce inflammation, which underlies a ton of chronic conditions and age related diseases. According to double blind randomized placebo controlled studies, Blueberries and other anthocyanin rich foods can switch off inflammation genes, whoa! You may not be born with the same longevity genes as the that rare centenarian who drinks a bottle of whiskey everyday and smokes like a factory, but there are ways to get your genes to behave better though lifestyle. I probably eat 2 cups of berries every day in either my overnight oats or in a smoothie bowl or ice cream. How do I afford such a habit? I buy frozen… even when in season. I buy locally grown organic berries that were flash frozen at their peak and a heck of a lot cheaper than that 5-6 dollar basket of berries in the produce section. If I can’t afford organic, I get regular ones, the benefits of eating berries in general outweighs the slight detriment of not eating organic berries. FYI: the Oatly in my latte is not a health drink, but it makes me happy. #healthyaging #wholefoodsplantbased #functionalfoods

    Have you ever tried blonde you have such a beautiful skin

    • @SteviesEarthBasedKitchen
      @SteviesEarthBasedKitchen Місяць тому

      Thank you. Yes, I tried blonde and liked it very much but I will never permanently dye my hair. In fact, the thought of impulsively dying my hair gives me nightmares. Going gray was the best hair decision I ever made. I am no longer chasing that dreaded strip away every two weeks. And not spending money in the salon along with all the other unnecessary things big beauty convinced most people that they need , has given me financial freedom to live a creative life. That has given me a sense of intrinsic value & satisfaction that I no longer care about looking young for others and I have only gained from that. I have accepted I am over 50 and that means gray hair and many other gifts. Let my gray hair signify those gifts. Although, I’ve been gray since 30. I think silver/gray hair is so pretty! So does my husband. Maybe others equate gray hair to age and they equate age to ugly and they equate ugly to lacking value, but that’s not really my problem, that’s theirs.

    • @SteviesEarthBasedKitchen
      @SteviesEarthBasedKitchen Місяць тому

      Yeah, in this case soaking cashews is not necessary because we want texture. It’s such a habit for me though. Thank you for the love! It came out so good. The lemons imparted a pleasing amount of bitterness, but if you are sensitive to bitterness, I thought one could layer in slices of yellow squash and still get the bright look. I would add in a little more lemon juice tho. Soy does curdle a little in the presence of lemon, which I love because it literally makes cheese (or tofu) lol! But if you don’t like that use another kind of plant based milk.

      @@SteviesEarthBasedKitchen I stopped soaking thembout of sheer time crunch! Haha Always forgot 🤦🏼‍♀️ So started blending as is and surprisingly they turned out! But either way, they do make a delicous creamy sauce. I also sub in sunflower seeds when I want to cut out the sweetness (and cost 😉) of cashews.

    I know this is a year ago, but if you/anyone wants a sort of lavender tint to your hair, get the Amika purple conditioner and mask. Clean your hair with a stripping shampoo to get all the loose color out, get your scalp clean, etc, and then condition with the purple conditioner. When you’re done, set your hair up in the purple mask for a good 15 minutes, rinse, and if your hair is anything like my silver, you should have a head of very pretty lavender hair. (Mine is still streaked through, but I’m a few years younger. While this darkens my natural blonde slightly, it’s worth it to have lavender hair!) I reset with the mask every 6-8 weeks, but using the purple shampoo and conditioner mostly maintains the color for me. And all this is doing is over-toning the hair, much like the little old ladies who had blue hair when I was a kid. (Who knew how metal they truly were?) And the purple Amika (it’s technically called bust your brass) will correct any yellow undertone to grey hair. 😊

    • @khills
      @khills Місяць тому

      Oh and bonus: any time you want to go back to your natural color, just use a clarifying/stripping shampoo and voila.

      OMG! I read your comment about the old ladies as “who knew how MENTAL they were” and I didn’t know how to respond lol! METAL 🎸 not MENTAL! Anyway, that sounds like a great tip. My hair does not hold on to color at all and I love the violet hue. Thanks fo sharing that. I might try that.

    • @khills
      @khills Місяць тому

      @@SteviesEarthBasedKitchen Oh stars, I had to go check my own sentence and make sure I typed what I meant, it’s been that sort of morning. 😂 Kve been told that there’s something about grey that makes it harder to hold color, which is one reason my overtoning with Amika seems to surprise everyone so much. 🤷🏼‍♀️ My other suggestion, which would solely be based on videos, would be giving Brad Mondo’s hair color a try. I believe it’s demi-permanent tho, so takes a little longer to wash out if you dislike it. In another two inches I’ll be able to sit on my hair, so demi-permanent that I hate is still a big risk for me but for folks with shorter hair it might be an easier risk to take. And he does have LOVELY colors!

    Anybody who knows me,knows that I am not new to play-based fitness; however, last month I decided to pursuit a play-based fitness routine in earnest. Which means that I took my unstructured play and added some parameters with the goal of truly pursuing fitness with a focus on healthy aging. I also switched up my plant-based diet as well, which was already healthy; however, I have making a few tweaks. Mainly less oil, more veggies and more starches. I actually started with increasing my protein,but half way through the month after learning that a high protein diet compared to a normal protein diet increases all cause mortality, I am no longer concerned with getting enough protein, just getting enough calories. I fully understand this is a controversial subject but I am following the advice of Dr. Greger who’s only goal is to provide evidence based education on nutrition & has no corporate affiliations or conflicts of interest of any kind. And while protein can certainly help with weight loss, it does not help with increasing our health-span. Furthermore, there is hardly such a thing as a protein deficiency in the US, but fiber deficiency is rampant. Anyway, my routine is to get at least 10K steps on most days around my yard and then I reward myself with outdoor play: hula hooping and jump rope. When I get my steps, I sometimes run, or dance and I am discovering that I love it more if I get my heart rate up enough to achieve the runners high. Darn I love that runners high, so I will probably start trail running again. I don’t see much of a difference in terms of body shape (I’ve already lost 20 pounds prior to this) except my clothes are looser, but boy look at the difference in my joy and energy levels If I created a Play-Based/Plant-Based Fitness group would you join?

    Ok so this is where I am failing. I had been a vegetarian since 1999 (poor diet though), went plant based vegan and lost weight and reversed my pre diabetes, high cholesterol and high triglycerides, and felt great. Stupidly I went back on the dairy. And I’m right back to being over weight and having all the same issues. I hope I can cook my way out of this addiction and learn to love other things. It’s now been 25 hours without cheese or other dairy and I feel hungry and annoyed. Thank you for your videos ❤

      They’ll get there in time, in fact, my hair is already whiter now than it was in this video, or maybe it’s just longer.

    Gosh I loved this video! Well, except for the planes part. Watching you play around on and tend to your land is so great! Being able to watch you make that yummy pizza. Delish! I immediately went and looked up Jill's channel. Keep the charm coming!

    How can you say that! Americans are not dumb! What kind of followers do you have that everyone thinks everyone is from Texas or LA? I am from Central America living in the US for so many years and know the difference between North America. I know Canada and US is consider North America but so does Mexico. I still cannot believe what you said….. Oh my God, with 52 states you make everyone ignorant or dumb? First time I watch you but no need to watch more of you.

      I wasn’t talking about Americans, but when I go abroad, people I meet often expect me to be more like a Texan or maybe NY. Lots of people from Europe travel to NYE only, so their idea of an Americans is a very specific idea. I really don’t understand why you are so offended. We are just talking candidly and we want to keep it that way. Also, there’s only 50 states

    It’s getting buggy here in NC, especially later in the day, so I created this bug repellent that smells good, makes my skin soft, and works super well! Keep it in the fridge and it will cool you off too! Natural DIY bug repellent: 4 ounces of melted coconut oil, tsp of peppermint essential oil and 1/2 tsp of lemongrass essential oil. Works like a charm So… about these sleep headphones lol! Well, my normal Beats headphones broke (sad face) But next time you see me, I’ll have a new pair! My husband just gifted me new headphones (happy face) My Play based fitness routine: Walk/Dance/skip/run around my yard for 10k steps Hula hoop whenever I feel like it Skip rope every lap until I fumble. I am up to 40 reps per lap After I get 10k steps, I get to play as much as I want! - if you are doing a play based fitness routine, use #playbasedfitness #playfulfitness & tag me so we can do it together! We all know that walking is great, but as we get older, we need exercise that keeps our bones strong. Jump roping is great for that! It’s also good for balance when you do it on uneven ground, I can assure you that! Berry “ice cream” :2 cups frozen berries, 1 cup soy milk (just enough to make the blades move of a Vitamix for about 30 seconds, a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of maple syrup either in the blender or drizzled on top, whatever toppings you want.
