I am listening to this video in February 2024 at Melbourne, Australia. There are some very salient points raised in this interview. The point that resonated most with me is that genealogy should not become elitist. Genealogy for the dedicated is a reason to get up and face the day. It should not depend on your financial position to determine your ancestral stories. My two cents worth. céad míle fáilte & good health to all; Sláinte. 🤓🤓🤓💙💛💜❤🖤☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘☘
Thank you. That was a very interesting interview.

I’m an O’Hara. My fathers side. I have traced back to my great grand parents who immigrated from Ireland to Boston in 1872. I would love to find my ancestors and how far back I can go. And also if I have relatives in Ireland now. I also have Scottish (Campbell) on my fathers mothers side. I do plan a trip to Ireland sand Scotland next year to try and trace my ancestry but I don’t know where to start. I only have names/dates of when my great grandparents immigrated and the ship they came over on. I’m not even sure where they lived prior to immigrating. Potentially near Co Derry.

I would love to see if you know anything about Galway roots of Mary Fahy (1807-) and her children Mary (1833-), Thomas (1841), and James/John (1843-1881), that departed for St. John, NB in 1847 on 'The Sea' from Galway.
This is brilliant, thank you!
Very interesting, I have traced my family somewhat but would like to go further back. I have O' Neill/Major on one side & Laird/O Neilll on the other. The Major goes back to 1846, Irish & Catholic, The same with Laird goes back 1880, Any advice appreciated
We'll keep an eye out for those surnames for you and thanks for your support for the show
Major: Quite numerous: Belfast area, Tyrone etc. English, 17 cent in Ulster. Derived from Norman- French mauger, from Teutonic "council-spear". DOS.
Laird: numerous: Ulster generally etc. Scottish, modern settlement.
Excellent program! My family emigrated from Connemara to St. Paul, via Tuke's fund in 1883.
This is a wonderful film. Highly recommend it.
Thanks so much for this lovely presentation. I love the Burren and have many lines of my ancestors buried in the beautiful Corcomroe Abbey
St. Paul has a large Irish population. Rita gives me hope that I will find how my Irish ancestors came to St. Paul.

Many thanks Denise,
Hi Aaron, My name is Robert (Bob) Sheehy from San Diego. I have been searching my Irish family roots for quite some time, and have made some progress through record searching and DNA analysis. I did not see your name on some related Limerick search sites, so I hope you don't mind this method. I have found a marriage record between Jeremiah Mullane and Ellen Sheehy, 26 Feb 1867, New Castle Parish. While my main interest is in Ellen Sheehy, do you have any connection to Jeremiah Mullane? Thanks, Bob
Very interesting, I wonder if somewhere down the line we're all cousins lol.
