Patchwork quilt - a traditional pattern with modern fabrics | fussy cutting fabric + hand quilting
This quilt was made to echo traditional patchwork quilt patterns but with bright modern colours. There is no pattern for this one - I played around with different quilt block elements to create a mix of diagonal lines as well as horizontal and vertical lines that crossed throughout the quilt top.
I did some fussing cutting for this one. Fussy cutting is when you individually cut out certain parts of a fabric instead of cutting strips that you then submit. The result is each square of cut fabric is exactly what you want - you can easily centre the image in your square, or be careful not to cut off part of the pattern.
This quilt was made with Art Gallery Fabrics pure solids + a few fun floral fabrics (also AGF).

A blue and white solids quilt handmade from scratch! Fully hand quilted, machine-pieced | quilt vlog
Переглядів 1,1 тис.3 роки тому
Come along with me as I make this quilt from scratch! I started this quilt in March 2021, and it took me all the way to October 2021 to get it completed. The quilt is pieced by machine, but fully quilted by hand. I quilted it in horizontal lines, matching the quilting thread to the fabric. The quilting is incredibly dense - the biggest gap between rows is only about 3/4 of an inch! This quilt i...
A quilt fabric mix of florals and woven fabrics | Why I chose these quilt fabrics and how I use them
Переглядів 3953 роки тому
I cannot wait to make this fabric stack into a new quilt. I started this fabric bundle with the pale mauve floral and built the fabric mix out around that. It includes white and a mustard yellow as well as the mauve/maroon, so I also included those colours in other fabrics. As well as matching colours I matched feel and texture by including woven fabrics. Each colour is paired with a dark and l...

Choosing quilt fabric for a New York quilt! | A mix of Joann state fabric + Art Gallery solids
Переглядів 4143 роки тому
This quilt all started from that fun New York fabric. The colours are not my favourites, so it was difficult to settle on how to use the bright, graphic, novelty print in a quilt I would want to use and have in my house! Since that initial fabric is so graphic and bold, I kept the other fabrics plain and solid (with just one exception!). Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids are my favourite solid fa...

Australian Christmas decor: decorating my American apartment with an Australian sense of Christmas
Переглядів 4963 роки тому
Decorating for Christmas is a little different back home. We have summertime Christmas, everything is bright and light and warm. Here in NY it is cold and snowy and it starts to get dark at 4pm. All this means my Christmas decorating had to adjust a little! But not too much; I can't get on board with dark snowy Christmas. So this video is about the ways I brought my familiar Australian sense of...

QUILT TIME TRACKING: how long does it take to make a quilt? A scrappy trip around the world quilt
Thank you so much for sharing! I'm working on my second quilt. I figured out how to start, but I couldn't figure out how to finish.
Thanks , wonderful tip . What needle are you using please ?
Newbie here. ❤
I would absolutely LOVE you to please make a video about how to use your fabric collections - no one seems to be putting any videos like this in UA-cam. We go to the quilt shop, come home with say a few fat quarters of fabrics, then what? All this stash and what the heck to make with them all? This is my main problem. I love my little fabric story I have so carefully chosen and also those odd fat quarters that are random purchases which I just cannot resist because they are beautiful...but again, they sit there in my stash with a big question mark over their heads, for a very long time... HELP! And I have been quilting for almost ten years and I still have this issue.
Love listening to your thought process. However, how you combine these bits and scraps will make all the difference in the coherence of the outcome. I'd love to see the result. Specifically, what did you mean by fussy cutting those individual colors out of fabric? What blocks or patterns would result. I need to know more!
Do you have pattern for this to share or sell? Love it 😊
Did you quilt every row horizontally and vertically or did you do every few rows each way? I’m at the stage of quilting with my walking foot!
I watched a hand quilting video you did and loved your color combinations on the quilt you were working on. And now seeing all your quilt projects you have a gift for choosing colors, prints, and styles. So beautiful! Thank you for sharing. ❤
I can’t seem to make this knot when I am about to end some hand quilting. Can you help?
Surely if all your seams are 3/8 or 1/2 inch and the blocks are cut taking theses sizes into account, your quilt will be just as accurate.
Couldn’t find the free pattern, I guess it’s no longer available…
Great video, I enjoyed watching. It was very helpful. There aren't that many color combing fabric videos out there, that I've found so far, I'm so glad I found this one. Thank you.
Dang I couldn't understand you. why are you in high speed talking 😂
Beautiful!
Hi! New to hand quilting here, if you start on the edge, do you still make a knot and pop it in? Or do you leave the end of the thread without a knot for trimming the edges later? Thank you!
Thank you 😊
Beautiful quilt ❤ Can’t wait to see your new setup & next quilt 😃 Love how you think
Absolutely gorgeous. Great job on the quilting!!
AGF solids are my new favorite. I notice you use a lot of their fabrics too. Love your videos!
I love the look of hand quilting, but add the stitch in the ditch machine quilting to give quilt more stability. Functional and pretty!
I want to do that same thing on a quilt I’m making. Do i stitch in the ditch first over entire quilt ( those will be the smashing lines then do the hand stitching where I choose to? Never done this before so please explain how you do it.
@@luannevandehey3664 yes you’ve got it! I do the machine stitching first AND bind it. Then I do all the hand quilting. Good luck. I’m sure you’ll love it!
Brilliant this is so useful Thanku 🎉
I love this. I've been looking for this quilt for some time. I knew I had seen a quilt somewhere that resembles plaid but wasn't made of "plaid fabric." Revelation Quilts directed me to find your channel. So grateful! Love your *Plaidish-Quilt* Pattern!
if you dont go through to the back side of the quilt what holds it
Where can I purchase the pattern?
This wonderful video was buried in UA-cam and really deserves more views. It's a great help for beginners trying to put fabrics together. What a great eye for color matching! I am trying to make a quilt with only a few themed fabrics, and it is proving challenging because I can't run out and get more. I have to work with what I have. I love the overall effect of yours and wonder how long it took you to do all the piecing.
It's a beauty! I've had this pattern in my plans awhile.
I'd love to see what you did with this fabric!!! This was fun playing this little game so to speak with you. Thank you for the fun.
This was so helpful ❤
Such a gorgeous quilt 🤩 It’s such a lovely design so well done you 👏👏🇬🇧
Gorgeous quilt 🤩 and I love the colours 🥰 You put so much time and effort into making this quilt 👏👏 I’m sure it is going to be much loved ❤ 🇬🇧
Wonderful quilt idea 🥰👍 Thanks for sharing 👏👏🇬🇧
Love the simplicity!!
Olivia!!This is stunning!♥
Everything is lovely! You, the process, and the quilt!!
Your video is a great demonstration on how much time it takes to produce a quilt. I have two time savers to suggest: (1) make strip sets for your small squares (in the order needed) and then subcut the strips and then sew. (2) Use a Stripology ruler to cut other strip sets. The ruler is an investment (it is an mvp in my sewing room), but on projects such as yours, you will enjoy huge time savings on the cuts and subcuts with perfect accuracy.
Make me nervous how fast she speaks.
Love that New York fabric! Have you done any more on this quilt? 😍
Super helpful! Thank you so much!
Great tips! Trying the 2.25" today
Thank you! Very helpful.
This is just what I needed to begin a stamped cross stitch quilt project to hide my thread. Didn't want my thread to unravel. Thanks!
I live in Rhode Island, and I think you're Australian? Anyhoo, I'm SO glad I found your channel of unique quilt-making content 🤗
Really lovely! I also like the backing a lot.
How did I miss this video? Hope you are doing well. Thanks for posting.
Nice job. Thank you
Thank you for these excellent tips! Choosing fabrics only just became a bit easier. I must agree with another commenter that you speak *extremely* fast. If you could slow down a bit, it would help modulate your accent.
Beautiful quilt, such a lovely combination of colour and pattern. I love the tied quilting. Thank you for sharing your process. 😊💐
Your Nana will be so proud! I really like your style of quilting.
Beautiful quilt!!
I love this video! My way of choosing fabrics for a quilt. First, I buy plenty of the one pattern I absolutely love and I don’t worry to much on the price. Then, I use that pattern to find other complimentary fabrics in patterns and solids at a discount price, like 50% off or more. I keep a small swatch of the base pattern with me at all times so I can always be sourcing fabrics. Once, I have what I need I start my project. I have never gone wrong doing it this way and I don’t have to spend a tone of money! Anyway, your ideas are inspiring!
