Hi:) This year, just like last year, I have prepared for you a short mix of all the designs that appeared on the channel in 2024:)
I'm even more happy that there are more and more of you on the channel:) A year ago I had less than 2.6K subs and now there are over 5.7K:) So thank you very much to everyone who subscribed channel in the last year and i wish everyone reading this a Happy New Year and may all your dreams come true:)

      @@SetaLevelDesign yeah, I checked and found out that you can add layers, slope data etc when painting details, but you cant do that when painting or mass place trees

      Yes, unfortunately, tree paint is very backward in this regard, as it doesn't even have a basic option for align to the terrain.

      @@SetaLevelDesign Before finding your channel, I was just trying to build a scene. Since I found you, I have a completely different perspective on the process of making a play space. Your creations, when finished, come to life. They come out of the TV screen. And my work is just there on the screen. That's why I copied several of your works. I wondered if they would come to life then? And yes! ... They're much better. In the meantime, I learned a lot from you about building tracks. I think it's worth learning from an artist like you. I realized that it's often the little things ( a little to the right and down that barrel, or don't put so much trash there, or don't put that pallet there, or don't put that sidewalk there, or have a clump of grass there and not there, or don't have so much stuff in the room.... nice and pretty, but the player can't move properly) that bring the scene to life that I discovered in your work. All those models and their quality are only a third of the scene. Placing them, lighting them, filling them with sounds and animation is the other third. The right gameplay and FPS number, as well as the menus and other accessories are the last third. And I haven't even talked about the in-game videos that add to the atmosphere... what kind of cutscenes are in the walkthrough, how it affects the player's emotions... And there's the all-important artistic plus one percent. So I have a lot to learn.

      Thank you for your kind words:) Yes, I agree with you on everything you wrote, it just seems so simple, a guy sitting and laying models, one here and there, but actually there are many hours of study behind it. And only when you start doing it, you will discover how much you don't know yet. Because even such simple creation at first glance covers many different areas that need to be known at least to a minimum extent:) Good luck:)

      @SetaLevelDesign both if possible. I think I learned that ambient light only refers to areas of objects that have a shadow from a real-time light source. I thought my building would have light bounce through the windows, slightly lighting up the entire. But that was not the case. Do you know how I could simulate a brighter room with a real-time light pointed into the window? Thanks again for this vidro.

      You actually have a few options if you want to use real-time light. One is APV using its scenarios when the light changes and the other is SSGI, which unfortunately consumes a lot of performance.

    Hey..appreciate the video but there was no part of where you showed about the WindPrefab at @0:27 ? Also my water surface is not appearing like yours is... Any advice?

      Wind prefab is simply a gameObject with an added script that controls the wind of Book of the Dead assets. In the video "How To Use Book Of The Dead Asset Without Unnecessary Things" I show you how to prepare a package with these assets:) As for water, you need to enable it in Project Settings > Quality > HDRP > Water > Enable :)

    Nice video here's one thing that confuses me i just switched from Urp to Hdrp and I'm used to using 2d images for the grass texture and now suddenly hdrp is using full 3d models my question is every time I try to pull a grass model to use it has a pink texture and when i concert it to hdrp material it is a completely different color, any suggestions?

      How do you convert materials to HDRP? Unity's built-in converter? Send me by e-mail (link in the channel description) screenshots of what the grass looks like and a preview of the material, then it will be easier for me to answer why it is like that, because there may be many reasons:)

      For water ? What did u used aswell because i dont have it , and for terrain painter how to import the script to make it foundable in the search bar ?

      @marxed Water is only in HDRP, and you have to enable it first in Edit>Project Settings>Quality>HDRP and set Water to Enable there. The link to Terrain Painter is in the video description, just install it and you should be able to find its script without any problems:)

      Unfortunately, water is only available in HDRP, it must be enabled in Project Settings>Quality>HDRP :)

      Thank you:) I have BOTD prepared as I showed in the video "How To Use Book Of The Dead Asset Without Unnecessary Things" and it works without any problems with Unity 6, you just need to connect the diffusion profiles because they do not load correct in 6. Shaders and everything else works without a problem:)

      It's hard for me to put a price on it because it's a really small scene:) Usually, in such cases, i simply set an hourly rate:)

    Hi! You are amazing! This is exactly what I was struggling with the other day. It is very difficult and a lot of time to sort through one by one. Thank you so much!     Hello Seta, Mahanth here. Your content is awesome. For those who want to learn level design in Unity 3D, this is the perfect channel. A small request from my side. If you upload slow level design videos using free assets, that would be useful for beginners. Because as beginners they cannot spend money on the assets. It is just my request.

      I understand you perfectly:) On my end, I try to add links to free Unity assets in the "Community" tab whenever I find something worthwhile. This way, even those who are just starting out or don’t have money for assets can begin creating:) As for Slow Designs, more of them will appear soon, including those using free assets:) So I think you’ll find something for yourself too:)

    Thanks for another great video, Seta. I am making a game on Unity 6. Night scene in a Village. There is only the moon light and some candles inside the houses. I am currently using lightmaps for larger gameobjects and light probes for small ones. All the lights are set to realtime and reflection probes are also realtime. Because this lights (interior) may goes on and off sometimes (except moon light). I am also using adaptive probe volumes. What would you think its the best solution for performance and realism? Is this solution i made ok, or should i use baked lights instead of realtime in areas the gameobject is gonna be static, even though the lights may goes on and off? Also, reflection probes must be in exterior too or only to darken interior areas? Sorry for the long text and questions. Thanks.

      You're welcome:) As for your question, it's hard to answer without seeing the scene and test it, but I'll try to guide you on what you can do: - Realtime lights and reflection probes may not be the most optimal solution because they will be recalculated in every frame. So while some of the lights can be left in realtime so that they cast some dynamic shadows when the player moves, in the case of reflection probes I would rather use two versions. One baked when the lights are on and the other when they are off, then I would swap these reflection probes with a script depending on whether the player turns the lights on or off. - As for lightmaps, if you want to use them, I would do exactly the same, i.e. swap them when switching the lighting. - Light probes for dynamic objects, absolutely - In HDRP (I don't know what RP you use) there is also SSGI which can handle such situations but it is not very efficient in terms of optimization, although you would have to test it because it might work for you. - Local APV on paper it sounds like it might be the best solution because then you can use the light scenario for on and off lights and switch them when the lighting changes. But I would have to test it because APV is still new to me:) I don't know if I helped you in any way, but like I said, without seeing the scene it's hard to say what would work best:) And don't apologize for the long questions, if I can help I'll gladly answer them:)

    This video really helped me out. This the first time I had used unity. But I can't find the water surface so I added the HDRP but the terrain just disappears and my the unity version is 2022.3.44f. and how can I make the LOD support the grass mesh (or prefab).

      Did your terrain disappear or become pink after adding HDRP? If it became pink, then in the Project window, go to Packages> High Definition RP> Render Pipeline Resources> Material> and find "DeafultHDTerrainMaterial" and then click on your Terrain in the Hierarchy window and in the Inspector window go to Terrain Settings and attach the material you found earlier to the Material window:) If you want to add LOD to the terrain, you can only do this if you add prefabs as Terrain Tree, but I do not recommend doing this for grass. If you have only LOD prefab , it is better to use the method I mentioned at the beginning in "8 Things You Should Know As A Beginner About Unity Terrain" video and add regular prefabs as paint detail:)

      Are you talking about Drag&Drop Volume? Most likely you didn't remove the Directional Light you had on the scene before, and it gives too much light. The prefabs already have the Directional Light built into them, you just need to adjust the exposure to your own preferences:)

      @@abdullahmohammed8878 Yes, you need to turn off the directional light first. In the Hierarchy, expand the prefab, and in the Global Volume, you will find the Exposure settings. You can adjust them according to your personal preferences, but this is optional since it is already configured for the scene:)
