    I also think that the mostly stable hormones makes hunger quite different in men! My appetite vary from day to day during a cycle ( and sometimes variations occur on one day ) when most men have the same appetite every day if they do not do more physical activity ! My husband is always amazed that I sometimes eat very little and sometimes double his portions even if I stay the same weight. Hormones matter a great deal in women weight / hunger cues / emotions and motivation, I had a hard time accepting it as something other than a weakness 😅

    I go back home (France) every year for Christmas and always binge on the food I've missed. This year, my challenge is still eating the food I love but mindfully so I don't come back home (UK) feeling awful, sluggish...

      I'm so sorry you've had a tough time lately. I think there's even more pressure at this time of year to be happy as we head towards Christmas that it makes it harder when you don't feel great. Our emotional health is all part of our health though so make sure you do what you need to do in order to feel better (enough sleep is always the one I struggle with most!). Thanks for taking the time to comment, I'm finding the videos are really helping me. I hope you feel better soon ❤️

    Congratulations on your progress so far, Nat! Dropping 5lbs is an awesome start. If your hip is consistently giving you trouble, try incorporating a 15-minute hip-focused yoga session twice a week. This can help with flexibility and mobility while also improving circulation to support recovery and help prevent injuries. I’m glad you’re largely avoiding alcohol-it makes a big difference for overall health. Your food choices when you’re out sound solid, and don’t hesitate to explore other lean proteins. Seafood is great, but consider adding options like chicken, venison, turkey, or even plant-based proteins for variety. Keep in mind that protein not only helps you feel full longer but also has the highest thermic effect of food compared to carbs or fats, meaning your body uses more energy processing it. You're on the right track!

      Yoga is a great idea thank you. I'm very conscious that I could be doing a bit more and making better choices at the moment, but I'm equally pleased to be keeping at it! I'm very determined to keep going - even if it takes a long time!

    Men have more muscle which gives them a higher metabolic rate. If you grow muscle your basal metabolic rate will increase, You will then be able to eat more and still lose/maintain depending on your goals. I am 167cm female and eat 2650 kcal a day, my maintaineance is 2500 because I have a lot of muscle. Grow muscle and beat your husband!

    Nat, 1400 calories is very low (too low), you will damage your metabolism. Do you have anyone who actually knows health sciences that can help you? I am concerned you are making it more difficult than it needs to be to reach your goals....

    • @NatsHealthJourney
      @NatsHealthJourney 3 місяці тому

      So I'm pretty relaxed about the 'extras' I have, I count my main meals but suspect I have around 1600 a day which is why I say I 'aim' for 1400 a day. And I think the fact I'm not losing dramatic amounts of weight shows I'm taking it slow. My weight loss currently works out at about a pound a week. Thanks so much for the care and concern ❤️

      It's ok to eat out once in a while. Eat a little less the next day is what I do. Losing weight is all in the mental. Keep going 💪 I'm doing my best too. I'm a truck driver and I don't have a regular schedule. The hardest part is to have a routine.

    • @bo_kana
      @bo_kana 3 місяці тому

      Yes: 1 - Choose a high protein option, lean proteins are best - chicken or fish. 2 - Avoid dressings. 3 - Eat your fiber first - that is your vegetables etc, this will slow down the rate of digestion and make you feel full for longer. 4 - Do not eat the bread from the bread basket at the beginning of the meal, this spikes insulin and makes you eat more later on. 5 - Avoid alcohol - you know this one though

    I feel this too- sometimes when we’re putting in the effort but not seeing changes on the scale it gets really discouraging. I’m also trying to come up with a sustainable plan, one change at a time, and so far I’ve started lifting weights for 20-30 minutes every day and am aiming for high protein/low calorie meals. I don’t like calorie counting during the day either so I have been meal prepping my lunches so I know what macros and calories they contain. At my house we have the same 4-5 meals we rotate through for dinner so I’m just naming them and entering them into my food tracking app so I don’t have to worry about tracking every bite of food during a busy day, all I have to do is click on it in the app. My biggest challenge is actually keeping up with doing it consistently every day and just realizing that as long as I’m consistent, it will work, even if the scale isn’t moving as quickly as I’d like!!!

    • @NatsHealthJourney
      @NatsHealthJourney 3 місяці тому

      Yes I think meal prepping and sticking with some regular meals helps. I have done that with breakfasts but not yet with dinners which I think is the next step!

    I weight myself everyday since I started my weight loss journey and I’m weighing everyday for data purposes only If I know I’m doing great calorie wise then I don’t have to think about the scale that much Just weight in in the morning then write it down after that forget about it and that’s saved data But I guess it always depends on the person and how they gonna work with the scale

    • @NatsHealthJourney
      @NatsHealthJourney 3 місяці тому

      That's so interesting, do you see much change on a daily basis? And do you find you can keep motivation up if you're not seeing frequent change?

    • @ham-alJ
      @ham-alJ 3 місяці тому

      @@NatsHealthJourney what I discovered is patterns in my weight sometimes it goes up then I know it will go down again And sometimes my weight just stays still and goes up after that Like I can predict the pattern just from weight in Not everything is accurate tho 😅 Scale should be your last worry. If you are going great diet wise then you just have to stay consistent and trust the process The scale is there to tell you to adjust stuff. Sometimes I eat more and I know I did so the scales goes up for sure then I know yeah I did eat a lot yesterday so you gotta change and adjust

    • @ham-alJ

      @@NatsHealthJourney for my weight sometimes it goes up and sometimes it goes down through out the week but if you see the whole data of my weight I’m actually losing it so that I consider a win I suggest measuring yourself with measurement tape if you want another proof of you losing the weight Sometimes you lose not much but your measurements get smaller and ofc you will feel those changes in your body and that is the best feeling tbh

    I would like to weigh myself once every 2 weeks from now on. Girl, butter is not better for you than margerine. Your body doesn't care if it's 'natural' or artificial. What is relevant about both is whether they raise your cholesterol levels and, unfortunately, both do so have them both and moderation and enjoy life.

      I don’t eat lots of butter, I think the chances of the change from ultra processed spreads to butter raising my cholesterol levels is pretty low. The evidence however does seem to suggest that ultra processed foods in significant quantities does raise risks of cancer and other illnesses like diabetes, and I found I was having 80% plus ultra processed foods. I am very happy with the changes I’ve made. I’m still having occasional ultra processed foods but now I would say it’s in moderation 👍

    Love watching your content and always impressed by your achievements. Well done and keep going... Could I recommend the work of Dr. Michael Mosley, a long with his wife he has created an eating plan and dozens of fantastic recipes which I feel will chime with your goals; including intermittent fasting and low processed foods. Tasty too. Take care and keep going.

      Thanks so much. My mum and stepdad followed Dr Mosley’s plan with great success. A good reminder to check out his recipes 👍

    Good luck! I will look forward to following along. I have a gorgeous lovely 18 month old and just have not figured out how to prioritise my health at all since having him. I’ll be so grateful to learn how you manage to balance everything! X

      Awww it’s a lovely age but 18 months is pretty full on isn’t it 🤪 I’m not sure I’ve got the balance right yet but I do find that carving out time for myself helps me have the energy for mum duties! X
