Great idea using the kitchen cupboard hingers to provide the self closing and articulated movement. Simply brilliant. You have the same chinese alignment dowels that I bought, they are .3mm clearance which allows movement. Better ones are only .1mm clearance.

The “puffer” aka squeeze bottles was a great idea. Made it look very easy 👍

I used dry wall plaster for sticking my rocks on as it gave me a longer working time. Another trick was mixing some Sculptamold and applying that as the plaster rock adhesive

Very innovative solution, thanks for the ideas and a pleasing presentation style. The bachmann have 2 versions of the coupler. The old one where the knuckle spring is a small plastic leaf spring, that lasts about 3 minutes before the spring snaps and the knuckle opens. These are the ones that gave them the bad reputation. The newer ones have the small metal coil spring (KD like) to hold the knuckle closed and work much better. Tip in Kadee instructions is to dip the last 2 coils of one end into some glue, this stops loosing the spring and makes reinstallation much easier. The 148 wisker kadees are much easier to work with and the included boxes are snap together so can be assembled on the bench then screwed to the car body. Just have to figure in the cost of wheels and couplers when purchasing these cheap second hand models. In Australia, about $7 for wheels and $6 for couplers per car (and varies significantly between sources, bulk etc).

Sometimes it is the older switches/points/turnouts as they have larger plastic frogs and the older (larger flanged) stock ride up on the frog of the crossover etc.

I never painted my cork, I simply lay the track then did all my ballasting. No cork shows through. I do see the point though

When I make a load for a gondola or flatcar I usually make them permanent. I cannot think of a reason to want to change the load to something else. Removable loads are okay for some but not for me. Your amethyst loads look great. I use real bituminous coal for my loads. Cheers from eastern TN

One awesome step by step tutorial that everyone can implement and add into the knowledge base. Changing the topic: If you ever bring back the live stream you should limit it to one hour only and have 4 trains set up with two on the tracks and two on the sidings and that's it. you run each for a half hour and the rest of the time you talk to your fans and answer questions. You can even have them help pick the next live stream consists in the comments of the posted video. Live stream once a month no more. The live stream is needed to ask the pressing questions like who feeds the dog or is Corky really a human, lol. Food for thought! Anyway, great video, Jersey Bill

Loosen the fit, glue a heavy washer on the bottom and you can use a magnet to pull them out when needed.
