i did drum corp for the first time last summer! open class and small, but i did it!

I remember in high school I wasn’t having a good time in band and wanted to focus on my grades, so I turned in the towel, but that same day I was dragged along to go to a DCI show near me and Carolina Crown’s 2014 show inspired me. I had never felt so moved and in awe in my entire life and the next day I apologized to my band director and told her I was going to work hard.

I had a friend that was quite overweight go off to compete in drum corps summer of junior year and they came back skinny the same August😅 that’s how i came to know that dci was intense

I can't believe it. My favorite corps from the first note I heard. It was '81, and I was so jealous that a wind player like me couldn't participate, but I treasured attending live shows and watching the artistry. This news is so very sad.

Man I’m 26 got a regular job and I still want to be a band director lol. I really miss it.

If you guys weren't shagging your corps director all the time you wouldn't have gone bankrupt. Good Riddance to the Cadets. Stop whining.

The 1989 Cadets performance of Les Miserables is still the yard stick by which I measure all performances of it. 😁

Stop calling it "marching." Need another term for the field movement that happens now.

Nice presentation. but just saying, Does anyone really care what these shows are? Many would be excited to hear them playing cool music. jazz, West Side Story, whatever.

Blue Devils 2014 made me lose my mind

Lawsuits? What in hell happened? I know nothing about any of it, as I haven’t followed drama corps for many years now because the changes allowed are insufferable to me, but that’s my own thing. The parent company is broke because of lawsuits? Seriously, what happened? Regardless of what I think of the on field content, I know how incredible the true Drum & Bugle Corps experience is, and I loved the Garfield Cadets. If anyone reads this, please reply. I now see that this post was from six months ago. Pray up

between all the corps 2013-2016 were probably one of the best shows I've seen

My favorite corps is Phantom Regiment, they have always made shows that has heavily impacted me in a way I can’t describe. My top shows for them are Juliet 2011, Exogenesis 2023, and Mynd 2024. Juliet is my number 1 show ever across all corps and for good reason

Phantom Regiment’s 2024 Show “Mynd” is an amazing example of why DCI should be considered to be Olympic level. The drill writing was some of the most difficult I’ve ever seen and the musicality was still incredible. The toll of work and effort on the body from visuals alone is incredible. The show is amazingly written and brought together. Being able to make a show come together and appear the way it does is beyond human. DCI is more than just a form of art and sport. It’s more than worthy of being recognized on an Olympic level.

At the rate it's going, they will grind themselves out of existence.

after marching this season with bloo, people who say that dci isn’t a sport are SO incredibly wrong. marching has been the single hardest thing i have ever done in my life. (but it’s also the best 6w)

Also highly recommend watching gopros of these performers. Watching the bloo 2017 buph soloist is what convinced me to finally audition and march euphonium with the Mandarins this last season. Seriously life changing (if only we did get $50k for it)

One thing I've always disliked as a non-American is that it's called "Drum Corps International". Where does the "international" part come into play? Afaik, it all or mostly takes place in the USA.

Bloocoats “Change is everything” (just performed this last season) is my favorite DCI show and Phantom Regiments “Spartacus” is my second favorite show.

Truth be told, I didn’t know about DCI until after I aged out. I was kind of upset about it, but I’m so happy that they had a merger with Drum Corps Associates to introduce the All-Age division. It may not be the same, but it’s the closest this 25 year old will ever get to marching Spirit of Atlanta. Hoping to march in Atlanta CV in the 2025 season! 😊

Have loved DCI since I was in High School in the 80's and saw the Blue Devils '79 Show (La Suerte De Los Tontos) and now live in Canton (Home of the Blue Coats).
