The history behind the only Lotus Exige EX460 in Norway
How a complete engine failure led to the creation of a very special car.
One small addition: Komo-Tec did of course also install a baffled oil sump when rebuilding the engine. This was mistakenly omitted from the video. Only safe track driving from here on out :)

Havnet her pga Lotusen du vil selge. Nydelig bil og alt, og "vil ha" er meget høyt. Dog er ikke helsa slik at jeg kan nyte en potent manuell "rakett", men så fant jeg denne Lada videoen. Tenk deg. Den perfekte bilen er enda ikke laget. Se på veiene. Alle kjører ulike biler, og den eneste perfekte bilen som jeg kan minnes er Lada. Fantes knapt alternativer, men digger de, spesielt Lada Niva.
I own an Exige 350 Sport which I have owned from new. The car is standard in all respects. In standard form the car is more than quick enough for the public roads. I don't do track days so I'll be keeping the car standard. Great video.

I've had my 05 Elise for 19 years now and it's gone through quite a few upgrades. It's impossible to own an Elise or Exige and not upgrade it. I look forward to parts wearing out just so I can replace them with something stronger. As much as I love my Elise, your Exige is stunning. I'll bet the two people who owned prior to you think wistfully about it from time to time.
As will I if I ever part ways with it.
No baffled sump from the factory is ridiculously stupid and inexcusable! Did you have one fitted for the rebuild? Or go wet sump?
For some reason I forgot to mention it in the video, but yes, the first line of order was to install a Moroso baffled oil sump, which is even better than the baffled sump Lotus delivers on the Cup cars, since it is a full aluminium setup, without the perishable rubber baffles on the factory "red" oil sump. It's quite baffling (hehe) that they went with rubber ones, requiring the oil sump to be removed every 2 years for inspection and/or replacement of the rubber baffles. Wouldn't want those falling apart and clogging up the oil pickup.
@@Stoelen7Yeah a crazy situation meant to a track ready car! Might be worth also additionally adding a Oil Accumulator like Accusump, they pressurise and dump in the oil if the pressure drops for some reason, like high G turns. Saved many a wet sump engine on track and a lot cheaper than dry sump!
Sadly this model of the Exige was not sold in the US. Great to see you’re enjoying the car properly on the track.

Great video - I love the spec of this car - I have been looking at getting an Exige with the Komotec kit (plus doing a few interior mods). This has got me really excited - this is all the car you would ever need.
Thanks! Yes, like many others I spent way too much time researching and obsessing about the options. I sincerely think the EX460 is the sweet spot.

Thanks! I’m aware that some early cars suffer from a poor gear linkage, but my car is not affected by this. I’ve adjusted the cables at one point, and that’s about it. Shift feels crisp and precise, so why fix what’s not broken?

Thanks! It’s a Komo-Tec 70mm exhaust system, as well as Komo-Tec headers and downpipe. Pre-cats are deleted and the standard main cat is replaced by a 200 cell HJS cat.

Nå så jeg akkurat at det var Førerutvikling du var der med. Var litt redd for at det var et strengt opplegg med mye fokus på kjørekurs osv, men det ser ut som at du fikk kjørt fra deg det det gikk uansett. Så jeg tror jeg får prøve det ut selv. 😊
@@danpettersen1 Kan virkelig anbefale Førerutvikling. Proft og ryddig, og masse kjøretid. Eneste "restriksjon" er at man ikke tillater åpenlys tidtaking, da dette bryter med vilkår for forsikring. Samtidig betyr det at man har full kasko på banen, og det gjør at man senker skuldrene enda et hakk.

Thanks for posting this, love the sound. Quick question. How is the camera panning like that?! Its such a cool effect.
It’s actually a glitch and not a feature. The GoPro cameras have a HyperSmooth stabilization effect that centers itself. But in high-g corners it gets confused and tries to re-center. It kind of feels like a passenger filming whilst getting motion sickness 😅
