Are there any new preconstructed decks announced? I can't find any info on new stuff. A bit weird to me they would release a new set without new decks?
I absolute love the artwork and quality, but this game is entirely too complex. Basic movement is unbelievably complex.
🥃
As always, very clear. Thank you! (interesting difference between foil and non foil AL cards!)
Great video. Thanks again for all your contributions to the game of Sorcery.
Awesome video.
Awesome video as always!! Love the under the hood look at the art. Keep the context coming!
Super interesting. Thanks for that
Love this!❤
Thanks, Haine!
I prefer the alpha print quality, it has character.
It does seem different from rest of the prints, I agree. The bigger dot's give it a distinct feel.
Really interesting! Thanks :)
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!
From my experience printing foil comic covers, your hunch about the foil vs nonfoil is correct. Foil substrate takes longer to dry, so they would have to slow down the presses to prevent smears and smudges. I don't know the specific dry time differences between the AM and FM on foil, but since most of my jobs use AM, I know they use separate printers for the foil covers vs the regular stock that they can leave calibrated for those jobs, so it could be a matter of their foil presses not having the capability of running FM jobs properly, or FM foil jobs are so rare that its not worth it to them to overhaul their machines for FM just to have to reset them back for AM jobs.
Thanks for the input. Yeah that does make sense. I'm actually not aware of any major printer that does FM screens on foil (maybe as a custom but not openly advertised), so it might be some technology limitation.
Thank you Haine, for your high quality videos! Always very interesting to learn something new, noone else is talking about that in detail, like you do. All the best and cheers!
Very interesting
Well explained! I'm a graphic designer who's worked in print for 35+ years and you explain it better than I could have. 👍🏻
Well that's good to hear lol. I've been doing DTP stuff for a decade, so interesting to see all the knowledge to be used on Sorcery cards lol.
Thanks for sharing your efforts with the community! I always enjoy watching these videos that dive deep and analyze the card printing and quality specifics.
It's always fun for me to look through the microscope!
This is like stepping into a different world. It's nice to see that Erik's curiosa is taking steps to improve the product. This makes me wonder what all the steps are both from the printer and EC to make an as close to perfect product.
They are taking incremental steps to make a better product for sure. I'm pretty sure the printers are doing their best to reproduce the proofs they provided to EC, and EC is choosing what the best quality can be provided from this printer within the possible options. I hope they stick with FM screening though as its my personal preference when it comes to very wide color gamuts.
@@wizardsden666 I hope so too. While I too prefer first wave beta as the slight fade gives it a nostalgic feel, the colors in AL look great. Much better than Beta wave 2 from a saturation level.
I pulled a couple of foils and I was surprised by how much the foil changed the way the cards looked to me! Knowing that there's a different printing method that affects the colors explains that - really informative video :)
Well now you know something a little extra about foils ;)
Cool video 🔎
Is a weapon card an artifact or magic card, do they drop when the bearer dies
They are "artifacts". If the bearer dies, it is left in the realm without a controller.
Am I write to say only 4 copies of the 0 cost beast exists for each ?
There are 2 copies of each of those beasts in a precon set. So assuming there are 4~5 sets, there should be around 8~10 copies each.
is the cube_list designed for 8 players? how should I tweak it for a 2 players cube? as always, much appreciated 🙏
It's designed for "maximum" 8 players, so you can just draft 2 players worth of cards from it!
@@wizardsden666 thanks a lot, Haine. you're the best!
I accidentally had autoplay on from one of your english videos, and ended up on this. Coincidentally, I'm in the process of learning Japanese, so this video was also helpful! :)
Well good to know that this channel can also be used to learn Japanese lol
just bought my first box and pulled a foil queen guinevere, loving the tcg so far
Awesome! Guinevere is one of those cards that can abuse the ability so hope you figure out a way to play it!
thank you so much for this, i just got into sorcery because of the amazing art the cards have and ive been looking for a good order and organization method, definently subbing
Glad it helped!
I've opened 8 boxes but couldn't afford the item i wanted from the dust store so they just sit in my closet.
Yeah, that happens too.
There is plenty of hoarding, but I can't believe for a second that 75% of beta is still sealed. Using another data point (cardboard guide's curio pull tally) we can see that 42 water castles have been reported (the most reported beta curio). If we assume all 18 beta curios have the same print run, and if we assume that a curio is pulled on average every 50 boxes, this means that 37.800 beta boxes have been opened. But this number surely under-estimates the true number of curios pulled as some go unnoticed by the customers and some go unreported. This oncsideration surely pushes the number of cracked beta boxes to at least 50k. So if we assume an 100k beta print run, this means that 50% of beta has been opened. This is a low estimate. My personal gut feeling is that at least 60% has been opened. However, I also believe that a significant percentage is being hoarded by investores and sealed box collectors. Right now my closet has a sealed Beta case and 7 more loose sealed boxes. If even a small collector like me has 2 cases worth od beta boxes stashed in a closet, this means that a healthy percentage is saved sealed for future speculation or simply to have product to open in the future.
I do believe there are around 50% of sealed product from my personal estimation from EV. I do think the majority of the sealed product comes from random players having few extras lying around as you do. I for myself have extras for draft matches.
I keep hearing a few people say the "game is growing". What does that even mean? I always thought half of what people are buying are sitting in closets until they can be flipped for 'big profits'. Even if that number is off by a massive 25%, I think a large majority of people are sitting on unopened boxes. You would need to have a grasp on the average of boxes per person to get a good reason for it but people being too lazy seems unlikely the cause for 75% not being used.
There are so many numbers you can give to explain how the game is growing in various aspects, I don't even understand what you don't get? The point of the video was to explain 25% is too little; it is not to say there are no sealed products, which I understand there is.
Haine! Another great video…agree on all points.
Exciting stuff. Any news about the new AL and Atlas binders mentioned?
No, the binder information is coming in the coming weeks I suppose.
Thank you for the video! We came to much the same conclusion in our presentation with regard to the amount of Dust codes redeemed.
Yeah I think everyone inherently knows why the redeemed dust points are so low!
I would agree with your assumptions. I know someone that opened close to 200 boxes, he sells the singels and still has the dust codes stored to sell. He wanted to see the new rewards and costs before he sold them. I am sure this is also common with many others who open large amounts. Let's say you have 100 people in the world like that, everything adds up fast, plus all the boxes that got thrown out, never to be claimed. Thanks again for what you do.
Yeah I’m sure those points exist too, thanks for watching!
🥃
Not 75% not opened but 75% not redeemed. I expect a good 30% to be hoarded for resale in years and not redeemed.
Is there data on exactly how many foil uniques /non foil uniques were prints for beta and Arthurian legends?
Yes, you can deduce the numbers pretty easily from the other videos I made regarding inclusion rates.
Great video!
Excellent presentation, Haine! The data aligns with the price differential between alpha and beta singles I've watching. Your videos are so valuable to getting a deeper understanding of the game. Thanks!
That indeed is another clue!
I know at least 1 store that picked up the game post-kickstarter, wasn't even aware of Dust codes, and tossed the boxes. I am sure there are MANY stores and players both who are completely unaware of this program, because it was marketed just 1 time at release and anyone after that really wouldn't know about it unless an original player informs them.
Haine The Brain!! Coming through again. Appreciate you dude. You are indeed a wizard!
Glad I am the wizard! Too bad not a cat though lol
