Heya. Started my first campaign (Experienced, adaptive, no DLC) a couple weeks ago, just now hitting level 6 with a troop of 7. I know I'm lame, but I really don't care for the adventure RPG genre (endless first-person wandering...) I'm an old-school PC gamer, give me turn based and I'm happy (Ultima III and IV were my jam in 6th-9th grade.) The split-zoom on this game keeps overland travel short and sweet as apposed to say Baldur's Gate. It's a bit clunky and grindy perhaps, but there's so much texture to flesh out in the mechanics that I'm this far in and still far from bored, yet neither overwhelmed. I guess some games are a bit like it, Age of Wonders 4 maybe, but after a few hours it felt like Wartales was the game I'd been looking for. So, here I am, and I guess that makes you lame, too? Because apparently nobody plays this game. It does almost feel like a game that would be suited to a rogue-like rebuild with a procedurally generated world option at start so that exploration is fresh in every game, though to be fair I've yet to struggle with that problem. And I'm just on the base game. My only gripe at this point is there are too many professions. I want to be skilled in all of them, but I don't want battles to take the extra time, and it's not as efficient to lug around so many mouths to feed and salaries to pay when rewards don't scale with troop size. Deciding which professions to perpetually swap on my 7th and which is the 6th to specialize in... tough to contemplate cutting another party member... Of course tinker, blacksmith, alchemist and thief. I feel like cook is 5th? Scholar 6th? Does he gain knowledge faster with experience, I hope? And boy you like to keep a pony train! Although being 6 months in a still low level and 26 days of food perhaps the playthough you're displaying is not so focused on working its way through the game... I've got three and wonder if maybe that's way too few... I guess it's a question of inventory management vs farming for pony feed. Another decision point I'm not sure I'm getting right is when to disassemble for parts vs when to sell. I don't even have the work bench upgrade that gives me two of each component yet, so pretty much hats and whatnot that give 1 each of tools, cloth, and leather and selling for under 16g. When I can get 2 each I'd probably disassemble up to 28g or something like that. I value not just the objects I craft, but the knowledge, so when I learn how to make better throwing weapons, eg, I'll craft one set of each to get the knowledge from all of them, so I'm very resource greedy. But part of me wonders if I should not be disassembling at all and therefore not investing in workbench upgrades...

idk but having increased fighting exp is really good considering how slow you level up in this game. it took me like 150 hours to max out my party at lvl 10. also adaptive exploration is better. You just dont want to have easy fights if u want to have fun in this game.

The three-hirelings limit is the reason I’ll have to save Minthara the next time by knocking her out, so that I still have access to a paladin. Because my hirelings are a potion maker, a monk, and a ranger. If Larian finally made Alfira playable for the entire game, you’d have at least one character of each class available. I guess I could respec the ranger into a paladin, once I’ve found Minsc. But he will only be along for the ride for the final portion of the game.

I ve been looking forward to this. I love this show, i hope it goes on. But! Why oh why is the cremé brulue so unevenly torched? It's burnt in the middle and no carmelazarion on the edges... Now there I've said it.

I feel like the video could have been 5 minutes, showing how to jump the first gate to the neighboring province and dodge fights, with a quick breakdown of useful unlocks.

Does playing on extreme etc give any benefits? Finally got to the end after six months, there are 31 all up in my party (including animals, prisoners and pack horses). I find it easier having a large party, though often it is the original four that do most of the fighting.

not true you can finsd some good ones you need to also unlok some paths to get more skils on them and if you have a tavern its good to man it whit normal toons recruit the extras from hero fights i got a good assasin from that full skill tree and just some guys frome fighs from other missions not simpel bandits i even have a tame plauge rat and ther upkeep is realy ceap too as thy get the free slave traid ps. i cant replay to comments YT is acting wierd

A bit late to the party, but as nowadays it's my favorite game, here are few notes: 1) Free recruits (or any recruits for that matter) are meaningless if you purchased a tavern DLC. You always have more than enough crowns to buy anything you want. As for influence, you gain it through any fight and\or contract and there are plenty of wondering bandits, as well as limitless contracts. 2) Companions. Other than a must have ponies, I loved my wolves when I've had them. Despite all that, in my opinion, only Bears are more viable due to their high constitution. The only thing you have to watch out is stacks of poison which can kill even them in a few turns. Also if you're using animal companions (which go next to last in the round), It's good to have at least one archer as a beastmaster for control. 3)Repairing armor on the go is a must, as usually you're far from towns. You won't be rushing back after most of the fights. Same goes for medicine. Have a good stack of Raw Materials and Medicine. I'd also add few more advices: 1) Manage your ponies for carrying capacity only. They aren't battle steeds. 2) Knowledge points are also limitless, once you unlock\upgrade lancern and assign a scholar. 3) Cooking food is better than eating the ingredients for these meals. Additionally to the lesser weight, they give very essential bonuses. Once you get unlimited money, buy all the scrolls you can get your hands on. Cook is a great profession. 4) Remember to have different professions in your party. You never know when you might need them.
