last question 😅 how do you have 4 option when level up and have to choose a skill ? i have only 3 options
SORRY to disturb you again but i would like to know why when you cook something you obtain x4 or x5 portions of that dish ? i dont have the dlc tavern is because of this reason ?''
I've tried to get into Wartales a few times but I just find the recruits so boring and lifeless
Otto is definitely one of the best reviewers and takes the time to break things down for the average player. Thanks Otto!!!
I am so happy this game exists. It's awesome 😅🎉
They were level 5
Hmm... That's very odd. Were you playing Region locked or Adaptive exploration?
Bit surprised you don't use the ram to attack the towers Surely it would be better knocking them down so your not attacked from above
100% This was my first ever siege. Was still figuring things out. I have a bit of an RNG mindset in new situations and sometimes forget to investigate how things work. I didn't even realize the towers were gonna shoot at me like that. But typically what I do now in the sieges is just avoid the tower range while I kill all of the enemies and once they're down I smash the towers with the rams before going through the door. And then I take my time breaking down the door so that I can regain all of my valor with the characters who have valorous support. Cheers.
very nice walktrough but i wonder how you find crossbowman with so high base stat in crit (almost 40% and mine no more then 20 %)
It could be a couple of things. This is a region locked run, so what I did to get a late game party was I recruited the pirate lady in the jail in Belerion at level 14. Which enabled me to recruit other characters at a high level. Once I've recruited them, I pretty much only sink points into Willpower, Critical Hit and Movement. That could be why it's higher. It may also have something to do with the weapons they have, especially if they're using the higher level weapons. And then finally, the food makes a big difference. I usually make sure to find the recipes for the foods that are going to give my troops that extra edge in battle. I believe one of of the foods for additional critical hit is the stuffed cabbage, which you can find the recipe early on at the Tavern in Bronwick town, which is in Vertruse province. There are also some recipes for alcohol that you can steal from rival taverns that will boost crit. And then anything that increases Willpower, a Bard in camp on the lute for example, also increases crit a smidge as well. Hope this was helpful.
@@OttoResolve thx a lot for the very exaustive answer but i have 250 hours in the game so i know all the reasons that you gave me but the point is that speaking of only crossbowman and the new dlc at the moment you recruit them they start with 40% crit and the stat is in grey so without any buff in the avern i see only crossbowman with 15 / 20 % crit , is really weird ,anyway you play very well and i took many advice from you thx a lot and sorry for my english
@rafcontu Hmmm... that is odd. I guess maybe I got lucky dice roll with those guys. Or perhaps they've been nerfed since playing this. I didn't even really notice at the time, I was just trying to recruit the first crossbows I could find in order to try them out. No need to apologize for your English, I can understand you completely. And thank you for the kind words, I greatly appreciate it. Happy hunting with your mercenaries!
@@OttoResolve thx again im a fan of total war too how is your site name ?
When transferring items to and from the inventory Hold "Ctrl" and Press "Right mouse" move the whole amount at once or "Shift" and "Right Mouse" if you want a specific quantity.
Thanks brother. I was real noob when I made this video. Took me awhile, but finally figure out how "Ctrl" and "Right Mouse" work for the inventory items.
I'm doing something similar, but with only one companion - Archer/Tinkerer + non-war ponies for carry. Doing adaptive for now, not sure about locked region variant.
Ghost packs and rat infestations are a bitch, but the mud bow/fire bow and bleed-on-crit perk combo eventually made it easier.
That's awesome! Good luck eh. I will have to try a solo run at some point. I don't how far I would get with just the one archer. I've seen people doing solo swordsman. Archer, would be a challenge for sure.
Ya, Ghost packs always scare the bejezuz outta me. And the rat infestations give me the creeps. I can see how they would tough fights.
Merry Christmas for you too. Thanks for all the tips
Is region locked better for a new player? Or should I go with adaptive?
laciza2005 I love both modes. But I'd say region locked is the best for new players. Keeps you a bit more focused but also, it's much easier if you take your time in each area. Adaptive is nice for the freedom of movement and the ability to visit the DLC areas right away, but it will be challenging all the way through.
somebody know why i can t go over the start map place? in dont undestand whty
"I TOLD YA"
Lol. Yup.
This boss was not as hard as the crossbow Boss.
No kidding eh, this guy was a dud. I dunno why they didn't make him a champion and give him multiple attacks. Would have been way more fun.
You must already have figured it out, but when handing over prisoners, you can select more than one, you don't have to hand over one prisoner at a time.
@SisyphusofSodom Ah shoot, in fact I did not know that. I don't often capture prisoners these days. I find them a bit of a nuisance and the jails get full so fast as well. But, good to know, thank you for tip.
Thanks for this, as always great video my guy!
Cheers! Thanks Mr Cleveland. Captain Esma was the MVP of my Skelmar Invasion playthrough.
Great end of the skelmar wish they made the boss a bit harder can’t wait for next stream hopefully I can watch it and not just the vods I’d also love to see the pits and arena of champions place streamed
Cheers, thanks @poison_gamer2019. I agree, the final boss was a bit of a letdown. That crossbow boss earlier was way tougher. Pirates of Belerion are up next for this crew, and then we head to the Arena and Pits. We'll cap off the series with a speed run the main story.
@ can’t wait
Just started the second region lol 😂 and see this fucking build
Man, those Pugalists are murder machines when they have the right gear.
I don't understand the early game suggestion of getting Apple Pancakes (and Culture Shock) since Honey is apparently not available in the early game. I've played until level 6 and I haven't seen Honey yet. Is there something I've missed?
in tiltren if you give the beggar woman krowns, (no spoiler) after a specific mission that happens in the main town, she will open a shop in the market that sells honey. I just got to that mission and my troop is ~lvl 4-5. Hope that helps
@IncredibleOscar Son of a gun, I didn't realize this. Good to know.
@SonnyDK Even if you're playing on Region Locked Exploration you can still visit the other regions. You've just got to be a bit nimble when you're travelling. If you stick to the roads you should be able to avoid most trouble. I believe you can find honey as close as Marheim.
No longer works must have been patched. I slept more than 14 days following this approach and still not cleared for use.
I have an updated version @glennpost19: ua-cam.com/video/mJavY8bhIYo/v-deo.html Also, rather than turning folks in to reduce your suspicion, if you have enough animals equipped with horse shoes, you can outrun the guard and don't have to worry about them catching you. All you have to do is wait for your suspicion to drop below 500 and you can repeat the process.
Console version coming(?).
I think it's available on the old Xbox if I'm not mistaken.
any plans for mods? I like my custom made pirate Victarion and his iron victory crew pillaging the seas but would love to dress them that way
Depends on what sort of mods show up. I'm down to check some of them out if they look good.
Should I skip the DLCs if just starting out? I was going to purchase them all on sale but I believe I wont be able to play them till I am further into the game anyhow.
So, for your first run you probably want to do region locked mode, it's a little easier and more of a traditional playthrough. Which means you don't really get to the Belarian and Skelmar DLC's until the late game anyway. However, the tavern, if you want a much easier and smoother playthrough, I recommend picking it up. You can transfer money from it for one. But being able to send crewmembers there is OP. They will even level up slowly if they're working as the tavern keeper or as bouncers.
I forgot the pits, that's late game too.
Thanks, I picked up the game and all DLCs due to the great reviews.
So do you start with the main Wartales game first and then move onto DLCs? The main game is 50% off and wasn't sure if I should get the Pirates, Tavern, and Pits DLC at the same time. Thanks
steam or epic? which has the discount?
Steam
@petersonfamily I would definitely say start with the main game and then move on to the DLC's. With the exception of the Tavern, which will make your life much easier, unless of course you're looking for more of a challenge. If you want a bit more flavor you can get right into the DLC's if you're playing Adaptive Region Exploration mode. But if you're playing Region Locked, you will be facing the highest level enemies in the DLC regions, so you won't be able to traverse those areas safely until you've finished the main game anyway.
Spent alot of time in this game has alot of cool mechanics and elements that tick the boxes for me has a satisfying gameplay loop, I'm doing a modded playthrough atm some decent mods aswell
Awesome mate. I'm curious what mods you've got going and if you recommend some of them.
@@OttoResolve The lazy overhaul on nexus is what im currently running changes quite a bit
wasn't this game release like 2 y ago?
Lol. Yup. It's still a work in progress tho eh. Keeps getting bigger and better.
@@OttoResolve Ho ok, ty, i'lltryit again then to seewhat'snew^^
I altso LOVE this game!
Bought the game day one. Havent played yet because no time. Plus my potato pc just died so, yeah. It'll be awhile before i get to play this for real.
Ah shoot man, sorry to hear that @Akiraguy. Well, when you do finally get to play it, you're in for a real treat. Such a well put together game.
surely with the flag you just have to use your primary action to activate it, like with fleeing an infected fight?
Yeah, that's exactly it. But I think you have to kill all of the enemies first or something. I've only done 2 sieges so far, so I'm not exactly certain how it works. But you're right, it is a primary action that you use when standing over the flag.
@@OttoResolve Just activate the flag when the remaining enemies is not much a threat anymore. A few new enemies show up but it'll start a new round for your entire troop.
Fun game, but combat took forever, from 10-15 minutes for 1 battle. Currently playing Crusader King 3. Much funner.
They need to to add AutoResolve. Hahah. I will have to give Crusader Kings a test drive. I've never played the series but I have a lot of friends who have nothing but good things to say about it.
Loved that game though got repetitive. Glad it got recognition
Awesome. I feel you with the repetition. I have to take a little time off from playing it now and again. But every time I go back to it I have a blast. Thanks for comment eh.
@OttoResolve it's certain a novel approach, I hope they develop on this strong foundation though
Honestly this game is incredible and the possibilities are literally endless! I can't wait to see what they do next. I usually play games for 40-60 hours and then i uninstall and never play again but i have 200+ hours on wartales and i'm not even close to finishing it, i just can't get enough of it
Dude, you've summed up my own sentiments of the game exactly!
@@OttoResolve Great minds think alike
is this like battle brothers or smt, ort what this about
@@Microphunktv-jb3kj It's just like battle brothers but without timers and the combat is far more immersive, these are just the main points that i remember but i haven't played battle brothers enough to be the best person to tell you
stupid economy on this difficulty, i want to play with a big army of 30+ units, but the game doesn't allow me to do that. absurd wages
This video might help you out or give you some ideas to afford that 30+ unit army: ua-cam.com/video/mJavY8bhIYo/v-deo.html Also, rather than turning crew members in, if you have enough horseshoes equipped to animals, the guard will never catch, so, you can thieverize with immunity pretty much. And don't forget you have the tavern at your disposal. You can keep troopers in there until you're about to get into a fight and then add them to your troop.
pog
Would love to know how many copies they have sold on GOG? Won't be anywhere near as many as on Steam but I would still love to know, as DRM-free is important to me.
Me too. Don't forget it's available on Xbox as well. I'm so happy for Shiro, what a great little game they've put together.
Nice video!! What an underrated gem🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
Cheers, thank you eh.
the ships hold is 200 Krowns and 10 wood. It is good to unlock prior to trading posts being available in a playthrough
100% Love that boat.
You need more ponies
Hahaa. Hey man. With horseshoes on them all, we can outrun the guard. And the extra carry capacity is always nice too eh.
Oh damn, good way to power level the first few points in crime and chaos too
Not sure how I feel about the new crossbows. It feels like they have a higher rate of fire than bows, which makes no sense.
Yeah. I was thinking the same thing.
Is the game to easy with tavern DLC? Even on hardest settings....?
It's definitely a lot easier with the Tavern. Extreme will still challenge you. Boss fights and Ghost pack fights especially. Though, you always have the option to not use the Tavern if you're looking for more challenge.
Awesome, I’ve restarted like 5 times so I haven’t made it to the pirate DLC yet😂
Haha. You can always go on Adaptive exploration and go straight to the DLC. Wartales is a slow burn though for sure. Takes a lot time and patience to get shit done.
Dude the crown of the sea makes your leader feel like an actual boss I honestly can’t wait to lock horn with the new Vikings
Missed to say, highly addictive game...😂😂, installed and uninstalled for the first time (too hard) then gave it a 2nd chance and got hooked😅 200+ hours.. and have not finished it yet.
Awesome. It can be very challenging and frustrating at times. But, it's really becoming one of my favorite games of all time.
@OttoResolve 4 sure one of my top 5 favorite strategy game of all time!
I wonder if this occurs only after the main game or if a new player gets an invasion at the same time... ( I have not played the game at all, so my question may be off from how the game works )
So, I believe the "Invasion" will take place in a newly added region and won't really play into the original regions. If you're playing on Region Locked Exploration, it will likely have the highest level enemies you will encounter, whereas if you're playing on Adaptive Region Exploration, the enemies in the Invasion Region will scale to your party's level.
(edited) Made me think of Vikings, which triggered for me the theme song when watching the intro animation (If I Had a Heart by Fever Ray). Vikings look cool until they are raiding you ...
Yeah! I've been wanting Vikings for this game for awhile now. Should be good fun.
Very cool. I thought the rams were cannons as well. I had concerns that they were moving into gunpowder. I am glad that is not on the map so far. Crossbows are an interesting addition. I am on vacation when this drops, so I will probably treat myself to it right away.
I wish they were moving into gunpowder!
@@Carnefice It might be interesting. Maybe some old ball and powder with an entire round utilized for reloading.
@@hatefuldisplay yes, or a matchlock! And cannons especially would be awesome
i found them but they're both lvl 11 not 12
Ah, interesting. I've been meaning to revist this myself. I wonder why they're only level 11 for you. Maybe the Dev's changed it in an update. In any case, I've heard there is an even higher level character in the jail in Belarion, the pirate DLC. I haven't looked into it yet though since I mostly play on adaptive these days.
Lol I have over 275 hours in this game and had no idea about the clicking and holding to move in the #1 slot. Just proves there's always something else to learn, even after all that time.
Hahaa. Yeah, same here bud.
1:22:31 this is abojt where i fell asleep lol i missed a bit!!
