How's it going Iggy? Christmas is on it's way!
@ronaldmcdonald8303 I hope you get some awesome goodies this year! I will make a Christmas unwrapping video this year too.
@iggystoyparadesoldierrevie1092 Yes, me too. I'm not bothered about how much they cost, cheap and cheerful. Have I asked you before about collecting police figures? If you have some police action figures, I would very much like you to make a video of them, if possible. I hope you get nice things too. I'm happy with simple gifts.
Iggy get in touch with me ,got a huge collection, i want to share with you.
Anyone else thinking that this is the book guy from pawn stars?
Have you seen the film battle of the bulge? The German army simply walk back to the father land after loosing the battle!
My Marx dinosaurs made short work of these 1/72 scale soldiers. The puny tanks could not beat a T Rex.
@@carausiuscaesar5672 Those poor soldiers turned into tasty snacks!
Have a spooky Halloween Iggy, I hope your having fun.
Do a video of those old comic book ads with any leftover soldiers. I mowed grass to buy them. G.I. combat was my favorite comic book. 59 years ago.
@marcrussette3467 I liked that one too.
Cool
I think it is a Zundupp
@@chrispulham4779 they should have put it on the box. Wait. I don't have the box anymore. Maybe they did!
I have two model ships from MARX from the 50s,that have Tin Decks. The Seawitch, and I can't remember the name of the other one.The moldes were sold to LEMBERG models, and Limberg made plastic decking for it!So if you see the ones with Tin decks, then it's original Marx.
I didn't know that Marx made those. That is cool!
@@iggystoyparadesoldierrevie1092 OH! the other ship is SWORDFISH.
I almost got the feeling that Henry Fonda's character was intended almost as a sideways examination of George Custer. Not sure. That is such a cool toy version of a western fort!
You are exactly right about Fonda's character.
Great figures and great video. Thanks for sharing these Iggy.
Thanks, Peter! I look forward to your next video. It's like having Christmas early!
Nice, I like the paint job you did on that small hut!!!!
The Marx toy company Born:1934 Died:1980 RIP
I had a big tin gas station made by the same company who made ''Fort Apache''
I remember that! I wanted that Sears Garage so badly. The kids on the corner had it.
@@iggystoyparadesoldierrevie1092 Mines was the non Sears version sold thru independent toy store retailers, That's the kids mind set of 'keeping up with the joneses' And, Thank you very much for answering my comment i really appreciate it.
I had one as a kid in '65 and the headquarters was tin, but the walls were of the same material as the corner sentry towers. The courtyard area was much larger. It also had a stable area next to the headquarters. There was a cannon which was spring loaded to shoot a small cannon ball. The figures looked more like cavalry soldiers. There were also Indians and a plastic tepee. I would put everything back in its box when I was through playing and slide it under my bed like it was the Holy Grail! I had not thought of that in decades. Thanks for posting this!
Why couldn't I think of "branding iron."?
Brain fog. Could be part of aging or medication induced. Check side effects are there any medications you take. Good luck Iggy
I think you pretty much nailed it.@@deugeneb1698
Would be a good addition to a Fort Apache.
Folks are getting shot all over town! It’s everywhere!
Reminds me where I use to live!
BMC TOYS ARE MAKING RECAST MARX WESTERN PIECES THAT CAME WITH MOST OF MARX WESTERN SETS OF LONG AGO.STILL HAVE MOST OF MY SEAR 72 WESTERN SET. TAKE CARE.
That looks neat. I built a western town with ho kibri kits.
Looks awesome ❤❤👏👏
1:15 1:17 Brilliant Iggy lad, it looks rather like a plastic representation of Middlesbrough.....a rough hole.
Is that in Australia?
England.
I hope you get better soon, sorry to hear your health is poor.
Wow Iggy I just now saw this video. Yes that is a K-Bar fighting knife. The person the figure is based on was Jeff Warner. Jeff was a WW2 American uniform and equipment collector. His collection was incredible as he started collecting from childhood. Jeff had everything and was a true authority on the subject. I had worked with Jeff several times on Guns and Ammo special additions about U.S. military equipment, and weapons. He also worked on several of the History Channel productions I worked on . Unfortunately Jeff took his own life about four years ago. Fun Fact , in the mini series Band of Brothers, Maj Winters is taking out a German artillery piece by shoving a Stick Grande down the barrel. Unfortunately the actor while unscrewing the base cap , he doesn’t pull the cord on the stick Grande . Good video Iggy.
A horseshoe is supposed to be in the up position, holding your luck. Love the background that really adds to your videos.
Very nice. That would look awesome with a general train set running around it. Get better soon, you are important to us.
I agree a train set would add tremendously! I wish I had a bigger place to do that. Oh well, maybe one day.
Those are the second wave of TimMee cowboys and Indians. The first wave, original 50's figures have the TimMee logo on the base. I think that army man is from Lido.
Great video Iggy I really enjoyed it & I hope you feel better ❤️🩹
@@Ecto_Eric I was worried about it. Feeling sluggish. You can tell. Anyway, I'm glad you liked it. I WILL try harder.
I actually like it, more of a stockade than a fort but nice nonetheless. ❤
It was started by Louis Marx and his brother in 1919. They started out with mostly tin toys. My mom had a Marx doll house in the late 1920's. LOUIS sold the company in 1972 and his son took over Stewardship of the company. The people who bought it (Quaker Oats) sold it to a british company and after a couple of years they shuttered the doors for good. It probably would not have survived the challenge that Kenner presented. If You are interested, I wish I could tell you more, but I'm starting yo forget what I read there is a two volume set of books detailing Marx's company.
NEVER LIKED THE TIN SETS BACK THEN,ALWAYS GETTING DENTED-UP..THE FIGURES LOOK A LOT LIKE JOHN WAYNE TENNESSEANS IN THE MOVIE 'THE ALAMO".YOU MIGHT WANT TO GO YOUR DOCTOR TO SEE IF YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR MEDICATION.I DID AND IT SAVE MY LIFE YEARS AGO. TAKE CARE AND GET BETTER SIR.
@ewmhop Thank you. I've got a doctor visit next Wednesday, so hopefully we'll see what can be done. I. Having trouble thinking clearly.
DRINK MORE WATER AND GET SOME REST TILL THEN.GOOD LUCK@@iggystoyparadesoldierrevie1092
As a kid in the uk in the 70's these were toys I always wanted. As an adult now so glad I never did. That's a childhood trauma I didn't have to have. But I did have Airfix and thankfully lots of them survive now.
@@ZarathustraMG42-qo7oj Airfix is the best!
Do you know the company that made the clown toy?
@ronaldmcdonald8303 no, I am sorry.
@iggystoyparadesoldierrevie1092 OK, that's OK 👍 I must apologise if I came across as rude with the Churchill comment. I hade no intention of disrespecting you, er did you get those messages that YT deleted? I have respect for you, you say a lot of stuff I agree with.
I remember all the adverts for these toy soldiers from my childhood in the 1970s. Revolutionary war, Romans, Knights and WWII themed ads were always shown in the Weird War comics that I devoured as a kid. Loved the artwork but, thankfully, I never ordered any because one of the kids at school had done so and ended up with a tiny box of dark green flat plastic soldiers and tanks (though I did buy the Sea Monkeys - talk about a major childhood disappointment!!). However, the ads were really great. Anyone remember the tank set with the burning German Tiger and dead commander hanging out of the hatches, or the ad where the soldiers were fighting along a cliff and one of the artwork soldiers was firing at you, the reader? So cool! Anyhow, I was a army brat in Bavaria and we bought the AirFix 1/72 scale soldiers in the local German shop.
The main complaint that they were plastic, flat and flimsy are valid. I was suckered into the Revolutionary War set. However, that being said, the early lead and tin soldiers in the 19th century and early 20 century were also flats.
You mustn't feel too bad about it. Virtually thousands upon thousands of kids were taken in by that ad!
Glad my folks never let me buy this!
@SpannSr1970 at the time, you probably thought they were mean, but they were protecting you from a huge let down!
Meron ako nito noong bata pa ako 😊
In 1984, I got the Navy set from an issue of Captain America. They were 3D, but I think the largest ships, the carriers, were about 3" long. They came in two colors: a silvery-gray for the Good Guys (USN) and an olive green for the Bad Guys (presumably the Soviet Navy). I was a bit disappointed, but I liked them anyway.
When I was a kid, I didn't care how good or bad they looked... They were only going to exist for a very short period of time before I chopped them up, burned them, smashed them, etc... The big vinyl Godzilla always won the battle. 🤣
The Purple Soldier You got I have in Green! Had two of same type but in a different pose! Mother threw them on fire as I had upset Her! That would have been Fiftiesh years ago! The Western figures some look familier but not 100% sure!
@@ianmatthews3041did mom step on one? That's how mine got tossed out?
Nope they met their end while I was playing with them and didn't get in to kitchen quick enough when called!
I saw all the ads in comic books and would drool over the price just one Buck what deal I begged my parents for the cash glad now I never got it .
@atheistpower5659 you would have been happier with a bucks worth of soldiers from Woolworths! Lol!
@@iggystoyparadesoldierrevie1092 I love the channel and plan to watch a ton of the videos Thanks !
I had a medieval set that were flats, was disappointed but got use't to it. Also had a Naval set with Destroyers Cruisers, Carriers etc. They were 3d plastic and I very much enjoyed them, and still have most of them.😊
I got two sets of the flat type, did the same threw them right away
They all bad guys .
@TheYeti308 cheap guys too!
Does this bring back memories, memories of a little kid now 75 years old, and the pain and the shocked disappointment I felt when my little small brown cardboard box of American Civil War soldiers arrived. There had to be a mistake, the box I was expecting had to be 10 times larger. It naturally got worse when I saw those microscopic flats inside. It was the first and last time I ordered anything from the back of a comic book. It did teach me a life long lesson, if it’s to good to be true, it probably is.
@bebopkirby MY brother is almost 74 and he still remembers the disappointment all these years later!
My mom tried to buy me that comic book soldiers set....they took our money and never delivered anything...mom worked a long letter campaign to get our money back
@Angrybarberman That's actually worse than getting them!
What the hell is on their heads??? Towels?
@@joeyj6808 lol!
Sounds like your childhood was a lot like mine! I also had a really rough time with the other kids at school, but had a lot of pleasant time at home playing with my toy soldiers.
@georgecoventry8441 kids are cruel and then they grow up to be cruel.
As for those later sets by Schilling..........they look a bit better than the "flats"....but still downright terrible! 😄
