When I'm in obsidian on the LSV vault and open Lean Travel, at ⚡ Quick Add, I see the same buttons as in Lean CRM. With the command Ctrl+N I can create notes from the travel vault, the error I saw is related to the ⚡Quick Add section.

    how did you setup the book search button? i think you used quickadd, but I am not sure how to create the command

    • @leanproductivity
      @leanproductivity 17 днів тому

      Yes, it's a QuickAdd action. 1. Go to "settings", "QuickAdd". 2. Enter a name for the QuickAdd action and select the "Macro" type. 3. Click "Add Choice" 4. Click the "gear icon" of the new action. 5. In the dialog, click the "gear icon" again. 6. Under "Obsidian Command" look for "book search: create new book note" (bit.ly/3KYUquA) and click "Add" 7. Click out until you are on the screen with the QuickAdd actions and enable the action by clicking the "flash" icon (it needs to be yellow) Should look like this in the end: Book Search plugin settings: bit.ly/4cfv5Zo QuickAdd 1: bit.ly/3XCCYnk QuickAdd 2: bit.ly/3xmrklY Let me know, if you need anything else.

    Love your videos. Very well organized and put together, great production and information is very helpful. One thing I noticed...the command to display the Properties in the side panel seems to be acting up after adding the CSS snippet to hide the properties (display on hover). Now the side panel seems to be "kind of hiding" as well. It seems to be hiding all but the first line. Have you noticed this as well, or am I special. LOL.

    Hello and thank you for your work. I have a question, I'm using the older version of the starter vault. Is there a best way to migrate towards this new fantastic vault ?

    • @leanproductivity
      @leanproductivity Місяць тому

      Thank you for your kind words. When I created the earlier versions, I was not considering adding more modules requiring structural changes. Consequently, I did not prepare a simple migration path. I suppose your best bet would be to manually copy your notes into the new vault. The major difference is in the folder names and structure of th "90 Organize" folder, which of course has an impact on the queries and plugin settings (e. g. for templates and QuickAdd actions). I understand that this is not great but don't really have a better idea.

    Hi, I just had a gain a look at your video. At 8:56 you show all the different class types. New types are always at the bottom of the list. This looks "normal" to me. When I am adding new fields to a class, the new fields are always added at the top of the existing fields. Is there a way to configure this behavior? I would also like to add new fields at the bottom of the list. And an other Question: I have a folder called categorys. In that folder there are different files - one file / filename resambles a category. In the Frontmatter I would like to have a multi select that lists that categories / file names as selections for the multi select. How dose the query of that multi select needs to look like to work? I searched several ressources and also tried to figure it out with chat GPT. It looks like I am missing somthing because I cant get it to work. Is it possible to give me an answer or is it to complex to get answerd here? Thanks a lot --> I got the solution. I had one space at a wrong place. So in my situation the query needs to look like this: dv. pages('"20 - Categories"').map(p=>p.file.name) Now all files are listed inside a multi select 🎉

      Hi. This is part of the "Book Search" plugin. Together with the other metadata about a book, it finds the cover. By default, it's a link to an online image. But you can change it to download them locally in the plugin settings (i.imgur.com/0UAkDrm.png). The rest is just a matter of embedding the image with a string in the template: ![[{{author}} - {{title}}.jpg|150]] I hope this helps. Good luck.

      Happy to hear that. There will always be something missing - it's just not possible to cover every potential use case. But - and that's the idea behind the Starter Vault - I think you will find most of what you need to adapt and customize it to your individual needs. E.g. it should not be hard to add a category for your studies. Add the folder and/or tags, copy and adapt the queries, and you will be fine. Good luck and thank you for your nice comment!

    Thank you for all your very helpful Obsidian videos. They're unmatched for clarity, comprehensiveness and productivity-enhancement. I have already downloaded the Lean Productivity Starter Vault. I've found it incredibly helpful. I now want to download the Lean CRM "module;" however, I'm not sure how to include it in the Lean Productivity Starter Vault. I've seen you say in your video about the CRM that it interoperates perfectly with the Lean Productivity Starter Vault. What puzzles me is this: If, when downloading the CRM, it requires me to do so by creating a brand new vault (that is to say, a new vault - let's call it the "New Lean CRM Vault" - different from my Lean Productivity Starter Vault), how do I move the files from the CRM "into" the Lean Productivity Starter Vault? Do I just create a new folder (let's call it the "New CRM Lean Folder") in the Lean Productivity Starter Vault and then simply copy and paste into the New CRM Lean Folder all the files from the CRM that are contained in the New Lean CRM Vault?" Is that the best and most efficient way to do wanted I wanted to do. I should also ask two more questions. First, and related to my question above, are there any community plugins or icon packs that I need to install in my Lean Productivity Starter Vault for the Lean CRM to work properly? Second, and this question, applies to both the Lean Productivity Starter Vault and the Lean CRM, do you know how to bring the icons that are used in the desktop versions of these apps to iOS (that is, can the icon packs available for the desktop versions of these Vaults be found for use on iOS)? Thanks in advance for your reply. Charlie

    • @leanproductivity
      @leanproductivity Місяць тому

      Hi Charlie. Thank you so much for your extensive and kind feedback. Yes, you copy the folders from one vault into the other. Both vaults integrate in the sense that their folder structures are made not to overwrite each other. But then you still have to configure the QuickAdd actions-currently, they are vault-specific, and overwriting them would not be good. Based on your question, I will fix this and create a detailed "integration" guide for all the Lean Vaults. Consequently, there will also be a new version for each vault. I should have this ready by tomorrow or Thursday, at the latest. If you could wait until then, this will make it much easier for you - and others in the same situation. I'm sorry for not preparing this already. I am doing this besides my full-time job, and time is a challenge. Thank you for your patience. I will announce the availability of the new versions and the related documentation on my Discord server and the various social media platforms. All the required plugins are included in the respective vaults. Just copy the ".obsidian/plugins" directory from the CRM vault to the Starter Vault **without** overwriting existing files. This will add any CRM-specific plugins (e.g. map view). Icon packs should also come with the vault and work out of the box on your PC. I noticed a potential issue when syncing to your mobile-the plugin developer is aware of it-that might require you to manually assign an icon to your folder on the mobile. After doing this and restarting Obsidian on the mobile, all missing icons should be loaded automatically. Small caveat: I only tested this on an Android phone - I don't have an iOS device.

As to the new vaults that are forthcoming (I will of course wait to do any further work adding the Lean CRM vault until these new vaults appear). A few quick questions: (1) Are there new vaults coming for both the Lean CRM and the Starter Vault? (2) Will the related documentation for the new vaults explain how to "integrate" them with exist vaults on the desktop. (3) Once properly "integrated" with the desktop, with the new vaults then automatically correctly sync over to the mobile versions of the vaults. Finally, when it comes to icons on iOS, the challenge will be, I believe, finding icon packs that Apple, in its paternalistic wisdom, will allow iOS users to install. I'm afraid if I can't replicate the same icons on mobile, I then install different icons on mobile, these different icons might - when my mobile and desktop vaults next syn - the beautiful use of icons that you have on the desktop version of the vaults will be "disfigured" (messed up?). Is that a possible concern? Once more, lovely work that you're doing hear. Is there a place on one of your site to contribute? Thanks, Charlie

      @@CharlieUniman Hi again. Thank you so much for your generous "super thanks." I really appreciate it. As promised: 1. All updated vaults are now available store.sascha-kasper.com/?tags=obsidian+vault 2. I wrote a guide for installing and merging the vaults: wiki.sascha-kasper.com/obsidian/lean-vaults/setup/lean-vaults-integration-guide/ It would be a massive help if you could let me know whether these instructions were helpful/clear/precise enough or if anything is too ambiguous or plain wrong - there is always the risk of missing things simply because one is too deep into the topic. Based on your feedback, I would update the guide before communicating it widely. And - of course - should you run into any issues, I will be happy to help.

      @@leanproductivity Here are my comments on the instructions:: On the page with the title "Lean Vaults Integration Guide," there's a word missing in the second paragraph from the top. I believe the word "merge" should appear of the words: "This is a detailed description of how you can" in that". On the page captioned "Merge the vaults," in the numbered paragraph 2 under heading "Merge dashboard and demo notes," I suggest that you add, for clarity's sake, the following text after the words:" Copy the CRM folder": "(that is to say, the folder called [CRM]' in the above screenshot)" and also suggest that you add the following text after the words "and the Learn CRM file: "(that is to say, the file called Lean 'CRM md' in the above screenshot)" On the page captioned "Merge the vaults," I suggest adding a section that calls out special attention to the "Configure QuickAdd Actions" - I say this because people unfamiliar with Obsidian's QuickAdd functionality might not appreciate what's going on with the information that you've provided upon clicking the link called "Configure QuickAdd Actions." (BTW, I do very much applaud the approach that you followed with QuickAdd Actions, i.e., having EACH of your vaults contain the QuickAdd Actions for all ALL vaults by default and suggesting only deletions of QuickAdd actions for those vaults not downloaded. This approach simplified things immensely for downloaders, like me, of several of your vaults.)

    Great idea and pretty nice execution! Just wondering about the dataview queries, just about all of them I've seen so far do a rather brutal dv.pages().filter() - which means they iterate through *all* folders/notes in the vault, just to throw most of them out again for not being in the target folder. As far as I know dv.pages() takes an argument that narrows down the search path off the bat to a single folder. There is also a pages().where() available that also cuts down the search space - which filter() empathically doesn't do. With a language/runtime like Javascript, those iteration counts do matter. :)

    • @leanproductivity
      @leanproductivity Місяць тому

      That's a great catch, and you are right. I will rework them for the next version. I tested it with appr. 5000 notes - but not more than 100 folders - without a noticeable difference. But it might cause performance issues, and it's certainly cleaner that way. Thank you for letting me know! I really appreciate it.

One question from me: based on all data regarding transporting is it possible to do some sort of export (i.e. PDF) to give it to people who travels with me? If I can put all info there and just print PDF with all detailed transport info I won't be answering all their questions over and over again 😀

    Your videos are amazing. I have a video request from you. Please make a video about how you think and what principles or ideas you follow to create a new system of anything. I have also previously seen your videos and this one is also a very organised and useful system in a practical way. You are not just showing fancy stuff but real useful stuff. I also have some ideas about creating systems for various things in life but I don't know how to think about it holistically so that I can make it practically usable. And again thanks for the video.😊

      That is very kind of you. I always try to be concise, and I am very happy to hear that you like it. Could you help me understand your request a bit better? Is this about the creative process or how I eventually organize my thoughts in Obsidian? I am asking because I don't think I can explain the creative part in an interesting or useful way. Generally, I look at my vault as made out of modules. So far, I published the CRM and Travel Planner modules. I have probably two or three more that I will present in a similar way. Having said that, other viewers requested a general "vault walkthrough" - would you be interested in that, too? Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback with me - I do appreciate it.

      @@leanproductivity Thanks for the reply. So what I am requesting you is suppose if I got an idea about building a system or vault setup about my novel writing. So for that I got to setup things like you have done in this video such as dashboard, quickadds, template setup, workflow setup, etc. So what I want to know is how to visualise that final outcome we are desiring that will help us in achieving our work through that setup in a more productive manner. Maybe my request is related to the design of the setup. I know it could be a very vague request because every workflow will be different to achieve different things. But still every setup follows some underlying principles and best practices which I am looking for. In short, what could be a process to design my own system like you did. What are the factors I should consider. What to include what to exclude. If you want more details about what I am trying to achieve then I can tell you. But my question is generally how we should design our system.
