It goes unused. As long as you have the forever GI Bill (got out after 2013), you'll be able to use it whenever you want later in life. I still have 35 months available.

I have similar aspirations to do Mechanical Engineering, although I am definitely in that similar boat... despite already having an undergraduate, I'd likely look at another three years of school to get another Engineering undergraduate. May I ask was there anything in particular that drew you away from the field? Was it just all of the math requirements? What ultimately did you end up choosing to get a degree in? Thanks for all these insightful videos, by the way! Super helpful for me figuring out a future.

I see many people here saying you have to exhaust all of your GI bill before using Hazlewood. This is not completely true. You can use your Montgomery GI Bill alongside Hazlewood Act at the same time, because MGIB is not paid directly to the school for tuition. For the many that have asked, this would be the way to receive a housing benefit while the Hazlewood pays for your tuition.

And they will give you a uniformed services I'd card that says disabled veterans on it. If ur retired tho, that takes place over the disabled veterans part of the id card

Even with a Dishonorable discharge you may receive VA disability medical /other benefits if you served more than one enlistment. (This does not apply to officers) For example, you relisted twice your first 4 years was honorable and the last 4 years you received a DD discharged. So, you have one Honorable and one DD discharge. Or you could have 3-4 Honorables and one Dishonorable. It's your right to receive VA benefits on all the years you had received HONORABLE DISCHARGES. Again, this applies to enlistees. Contact the VA and get a determination of benefits. Yes, you can't receive VA benefits with a DD, but Yes with your other honorable good years YOU CAN, check it out my friend's. Contact the VA NOW.
