Clifford! If you see this please leave your Instagram below (if you want to) Thank you for letting me tell your story! Hope I did you justice. Happy trails!
I've always wanted to do something like this, but in less windy conditions of course. But I'll have to wait until I get a car/van so I can drive up there.
It's great up in the lakes! You totally should. You can get a Train up as well. When I did the coast to coast years ago I got the train up to Whitehaven and another back from Newcastle. I was lucky on this occasion because someone I knew was on holiday in the Lake District so we all crashed at their rented cottage for a couple of nights! Less wind would be better! I couldn't believe the difference in the weather conditions that day!
You are doing some great videos Karl, I think your channel will grow a lot in 2025. Was going to buy you a coffee but cant, maybe something you should look into, cheers
Thank you! Your comments alone are plenty enough!
Sorry, half replied to the wrong comment initially lol. My excuse is that I am sat editing the next video. Got (what I hope is) a good one.
Well done Nice to see someone on a proper bike instead of the usual e-bike cheats that are on UA-cam
Thank you! I will keep on riding under my own steam as long as I am able to 😂.
It says it’s set to be shown at 3:30am on the 16th Dec 🤔 have you made a mistake Karl? X x x
@J.A.Madventures it's set as a premier. It has a countdown to the go live date. I thought I would try out the feature. Not sure I will do It again lol. It's not very good. I try to release a video every Monday. 3:30 :)
@ ah, only saying cos I joined a live one of ‘Black Crag’ …a You Tube account …and he was able to join us all in conversation during the episode of his walk, at a more reasonable hour though 🤣😂🤣 …I haven’t a clue how to do all that though ..like changing the time etc ..I. Sure you’re way more technical than me. Anyhow hope it goes well x x x
I think you’re also born to vlog, you’ve got a great voice, it’s all very interesting and brilliantly edited 👍🏼🌈✝️🕊️🙏😇😘🥰😍 x x x keep them coming x x x x
Thank you. I just wanted a reason to make a 'top gear' type video haha.

Great video!! Mini 4k forever!! 😍😍
@@RobertoGiove4k thank you.!
I'll leave you a relevant comment as well... That bike does look really good for under £1K. I'm still using my 4 year old Merida XT, which I also got for under £1K. It's only a 10 speed, and the forks aren't half as good as yours (Suntour 100mm), but I love it. I'm thinking about modifying it now, as I've already got my moneys worth with how much I've ridden it. Might get some better forks and definitely need new tyres.
@Dani-El. Sounds awesome. I think once you have most bikes nicely maintained they are a pleasure to ride. The Merida was one of the first bikes I looked at when shopping around. They are nice bikes! Happy riding :)
@@BikeTrekkingwithKarl I got it for a steal actually. It should have been £950 but, because it was the previous year's stock, it was reduced to £500. And then I found a 10% off voucher code. So £450 in total. I've heard good things about VooDoo in the past though, so my next bike might have to be one of these.
PUMA!
@Dani-El. Thank you! Love it! Puma tall the way!
@@BikeTrekkingwithKarl Oops, sorry. Wrong video. Ha
Ha ha, a bike pushing channel, I like it. Lovely place.
@@randelscyclevlogperthwa7342 The bridleways were steep there! Although I have just finished a ride in the Lake District and that's next level steep! Howarth is very picturesque.
I've tried a few Brooks saddles and ended up liking the Brooks Flyer one the best. Especially when I'm using on bikes with no suspension as it has springs at the back. Subscribed to see what other adventures you get up to...
@@techwheelstalktime I love the look of the flyer! I have just finished a ride in the Lake District. Left the brooks saddle at home as the bike is going to be sat in the rain for a few days. Thank you for the sub!!!
@@BikeTrekkingwithKarl By the way, I also leave the original rain cover pretty much always on the saddle, which I know hides it but then it can be left on in all weathers... not the rubber cover they moved too a bit later but if you can get hold of the original... Just realised I'm replying from one of my other channels but it's still me 🙂

Hi Karl 😃 My neck of the woods’ish ❤ Higher Slack farm 🙂 I was trying to zoom in to see if I knew certain areas, cos there’s a perfect dry stone wall up there that I love, then at 1:04 under the exclamation mark’s dot, I noticed what looked like a ruck sack, on zoom up, you didn’t leave one did you or it could be a jumper! Anyhow, brilliant video again, thanks for sharing 🌈✝️🕊️. I also heard some activists let some lynx free many yrs ago too, they could be anywhere in the U.K 🤪 My husband was bit by a dog on a lead once, as the owner walked past him with a long lead! And one ran to our youngest son and bit his hand, which then put our children off dogs and walks for yrs! IF we made it out, we had to pick them up every time we passed a dog! They should make paths around farms and houses ..better for us all that way, I don’t know why they don’t! I think they want all the land so they try to put farmers off in anyway they can ..they as in the powers that be. I hate going through their gardens which are a public way, but have to currently cos there’s no other way! Love Julie x x x
Well there is nothing wrong with your eyes! To get the drone shot I needed to leave a few things behind. I went back for them. It's such a shame about the dogs. We had an awful run in with a dog walker when my boy was just turning 1. It's not nice. We have a dog and if she went for a chiid I would be mortified. It is odd going through peoples gardens. I have to admit. I did even record a bit about how I feel bad for farmers. They are targeted by criminals a lot these days. It didn't make the final edit. Nice to hear from you. Hope you and the family are doing well. Karl
ha ha, it was on zoom up 🤪 That’s awful for you to have such an incident with your son so young and vulnerable… the helpless feeling is horrid isn’t it, when we’re there to try to protect our children 😞 We all managed a head torch walk round Colden Clough a few days ago, near Hebden Bridge, so that was great 😃🌈✝️🕊️ it’s rare we all get out together x x x Hope you’re all ok too, it’s great seeing you out and about enjoying our lovely countryside, look forward to the next one, I love your little bits of humour too, I’ve forgotten now what they were, but I’ve remembered there were some 🤣😂 night God bless, love Julie x
Cracking video Karl, is that the new bike too? And some top trails in that area 👌🏼
Thank you! Put a lot of effort into this one. Yes it is the new bike. The VooDoo Bizango Pro. I am planning to do a review video on it soon. Hopefully when the weather is better. I bought it from Tredz in the end.
@ you can tell, well done and nice looking bike, just built myself up a winter hardtail to.
Puma. Biggest problem here is the occassional snake.
@@randelscyclevlogperthwa7342 Thanks for watching to the end! The occasional snake... I have never been to Australia before, but I think that has to be an understatement haha.
Puma!

@@Dani-El. Hahaha thank you!
This video is just a fun way of discussing Bridleways. They are very safe overall and we are lucky to have them .
The weather is very dangerous where I live! You can never be too safe when it comes to planning. I hqve never heard of traps being set! Thank goodness.
Thank you. Couldn't agree more on the Weather. Traps are very rare. I have never personally seen one.
At most, I would say excuse me. I don't want to have pointless conversations with people in my way. I just want to get going.
@@observingrogue7652 yep you do you. I knew it would be divisive section of the video. The main point is 'good manors' which an 'excuse me' would be. I have a new video coming out today which is a follow up to this one about bridleways.
I've done about 3000mls on my B17 and I love it, it's got a few scuffs and scrapes but that just adds to it's character. Not sure if I'd buy another one though as they're so expensive now.
@@Captain_Lockheed they really are expensive! I managed to get a good deal. I have met people who bought second hand ones. I am not sure how that effects the break in process..
Soon as Maven, Litchi or Dronelink work with the Mini 4k you will have both optical active-track and GPS follow-me. Take it from me, GPS follow-me is more usable most of the time. You can position the drone in view in front or next to you and see what it is doing. Maybe you should have gotten the Mini 2 (not SE) as it already is compatible? People thinking only optical tracking is any good just don't have a clue. Now I'm not saying optical tracking is useless. It's a great feature. But it is not a replacement for GPS follow-me! A good drone should have both.
The Neo would have been great with a small cheap wireless controller you can use in optical flow mode. Because that makes it very fast to get it in the air. And that's something drone manufacturers and reviewers don't understand. If you have to connect a phone, do calibration, wait for satellites, it just takes too long and you are not going to bother 10-20 times a day. Even better a split controller left/right on your handlebar! Won't need any auto features if you have full control. As for GPS follow-me, it's not only to get video, but also to keep the drone near in between shots. Since the Neo does have GPS that is a matter of a couple lines code. The cheapest GPS drone can have a perfect follow-me. Unfortunately very few are programmed correctly. To prove it's not the price, my L109 Pro was 130 Euro and does everything right. Compass type follow-me, I can put it anywhere, use the sticks anytime. And it even auto-updates homepoint so I don't have to race back like an idiot if RTH kicks in! That's the last thing you want! But the Maven app is done right. A little better than Litchi. Has a nice big update-homepoint in the middle of the screen. So that's the one to check for updates. Or you could try swap your Mini 4k for a Mini 2 if you don't want to wait until DJI releases the SDK for the Mini 4k.
That's interesting. I had not considered the option of the mini 2. I have just filmed a ride and loved the 4k mini. I did have moments where I would have found way points very useful.
@@BikeTrekkingwithKarl On my channel I have videos of the Fimi A3. The most accurate follow-me drone ever made probably. If I move 1 mm it moves. I can have it fly half a meter from my face and it will never hit me. Or 100 meters away and it will never lose me. It will always stay in compass position to me no matter which way I turn. But I can use the sticks whenever I want. And because I can put it in front of me I don't need obstacle avoidance. That's the problem with optical tracking. It more or less only works from behind. And I don't have eyes in the back of my head. Staring on the phone screen is not an option. Whole point is that it is a press of a button and that's it. Again I love optical tracking especially with obstacle avoidance. Or the way the Neo precisely follows your path. My problem is that the Neo is almost like a 360 camera o a stick. You can't get those epic landscape shots. And it you use the controller and active-track, you have to go to all the settings and use the touchscreen. It takes too long. I mean try use that inner outer circle thing in DJI's app while riding bike. Impossible. And even with obstacle avoidance you keep turning your head like Regan in the Exorcist. The reason why nobody uses it in real life. The footage even looks amateurish going all over the place left right up down. What I do like is how 'point of interest' can be used with a moving subject. It takes time to get the shots you want. But they are dynamic. This said, if you use follow-me and tie the controller to your handlebar they shots could be even better. Soon you let loose of the sticks it will keep following. If optical tracking loses you you have to stop and ride back etc. Gets annoying very quick.
I love drone footage, but I’d be too scared to use one 🤪 x x x yes I found this interesting, thanks 👍🏼🌈✝️🕊️
I will be honest. My heart is in my mouth every time I fly a drone haha.
Love my Brooks Saddles, I wouldn't use anything else. Found it comfortable pretty much straight away. It probably helps I live in a pretty sunny place and it rarely gets wet. Enjoying your channel.
@@randelscyclevlogperthwa7342 that's great. I remember mine feeling like plate armour out of the box haha. But that's a natural product for you. Lots of variation. Thank you for the comment. It all really helps.
@BikeTrekkingwithKarl I do a lot of cycling most days so maybe I have a pretty tough backside and also I wear the padded shorts. You have quite a few good youtubers in your area including MrDazP1 and Onemorecyclist.
@randelscyclevlogperthwa7342 I will check out some of their videos. I watched some of your videos. It's cool to see some of Australia form a bike!
Thanks for sharing this, it was a beautiful video and moving and I’m so thankful you managed to overcome that heartbreak and enjoy biking. Singing is a sign the soul is happy again 🌈✝️🕊️😇😘🥰😍 x x x I am always happily surprised when I find myself singing after sometimes months of not doing x x x My eldest son sadly didn’t make it past a heartbreaking split, aged just 23 in 2010, with the mother of his two babies, then 3 & a half (his son) and 16 months old (his daughter), with four pints of alcohol still in his system, he jumped off the north bridge in Halifax 😱🤯😭😫 on his way to work as a bus driver around 5:45 am, and a post man saw a blur go over the bridge and checked then called the police. I met this post man in the ring-o-bells pub in Halifax 6 months later, wanting to see the last human to lay eyes on my son before his death, we got on great and hugged and when I got back home in Rochdale from meeting him, I found out my Dad had just hanged himself that day in his shed! 😱🤯 Relationship splits are a grief, and I remember Peter Andre saying he blanked out when he saw a photograph of his children on another man’s shoulders. My sons last words to me the night before he died were that he was worried another man would be around his kiddies and I tried to reassure him as best I could that I’d that did happen, God would have made him strong enough to deal with it by then. So heartbreaking that in such grief of the split, they can’t see any bright future ahead 💔 Anyhow as I said, thanks for sharing your story and I’m glad you made it through to continue to enjoy life when you can x x x I have Gods peace beyond all understanding over my son and Dads deaths and had visions of them safe in His arms 🌈✝️🕊️ Love Julie x
@@J.A.Madventures Thank you for sharing, it must be difficult to talk about what happened. I can't even imagine what you have all been through. What I did not mention in the story is that there was a child involved in the split, who I thought was mine at the time. So your story does resonate with me. I am very lucky now to have an amazing family. Regarding singing I remember a poster from school that used to say 'he who sings prays twice' not sure if it is true, but it is good for the soul. Take care. Karl
@@BikeTrekkingwithKarl awe yes that’s a beautiful quote and I believe 100% true, I’ll remember that, thanks 🌈✝️🕊️ it’s amazing what we humans can and do get through sometimes, and it’s also no shame for those who can’t, it’s a tough old world this! Glad you made it through ❤ We met a lovely couple in Skegness the year before my son died and they offered to let us stay in theirs for free after my son died bless them (I insisted on paying though) x x x🌈✝️🕊️ they became closer than some of our family and we stayed next to them yr after yr each summer, they told us that a nephew of their was on Jeremy Kyle once because he’d raised his daughter for 21yrs then found out she wasn’t his 😳 that messed him up, but never treated her any different after that. But what a shock! I’m reading Bear Grylls book currently about his S.A.S training and climbing Mount Everest, and it’s a great encouragement which I connect with just in my mind ..the same kind of endurance struggles he went through. Anyhow thanks for chatting and sharing, I appreciate it very much 🌈✝️🕊️ look forward to your videos and I still have quite a few to up,lad but not up to it again yet! Frederick Gibson was a gardener at chatsworth and he met Harriet horn there who was a maid there. They got married and later moved to Lyme Park where they worked then, and Frederick became Head gardener. There is a life size black and white picture of him there. They married near chatsworth in Edensor in 1891. They were at Lyme after that. They are my husbands grandma Fells grandparents. Grandma fell’s dad was born at Lyme, Walter Edmund Gibson, their son. Grandma Fell is still alive aged 91. At 3:19 there is a van parked with the name Gibson on 😃🌈✝️🕊️😇😘🥰😍 x x x I see things like this as God joining in for a laugh 🤪 Another anecdote on this is…whilst in Greece last Oct 2023 we were at the temple of Poseidon and I overheard a talk about the Duke of Devonshire taking a pillar from there back to the U.K. My husband told me that was who owned Chatsworth when his 2nd great Grandad Fredrick Gibson was there as the gardener. How unbelievable to think that we just happened to find that out whilst at the temple of Poseidon near all the other pillars, and my husbands 2nd great Grandad would have seen, even cleaned the missing pillar from there 😯. How amazing ..and God connecting us all like a jigsaw 🧩 I also watch a vlogger called By The Curb, by James and Helen, and James went to Chatsworth recently and took his parents who are disabled, and Chatsworth wouldn’t let him drop them by the door without paying £35 even though he wasn’t parking there! This was the other day (his vlog) so his viewers were saying they’d all boycott it 🤣😂🤣 and now here you are at Chatsworth too 🌈✝️🕊️ I’ve never been! But we did go to Lyme park on a heritage open day when it was free, and as we walked into the grounds, there was the life size photo of my husbands 2nd Great Grandad 😃 Frederick Gibson 🌈✝️🕊️ how amazing. @@J.A.Madventures @J.A.Madventures wow what a small world it's for you to hqvz that connection to Chatsworth. How do you all feel about your bikes? Love them? Or are they just bikes.. I didn't go into a lot of detail about what is wrong with the bike.. The bike is over 15 years old. The rear hub is shot, the cassette is shot, the rear break doesn't hold its pressure for long and every bearing probably needs replacing. Could she be fixed?.. Yes she totally could be, but at this point it is more economical to get a new bike. Also bike tech has changed a lot in the last decade and a half... so there is that!
I just get a new bike when mines conking out, every yr or so, not an expensive one x x x I’m no good at looking after them. I always get the same, a pale pink one with a basket and folk know me from that 🌈✝️🕊️😇😘🥰😍 x x x

At 4:54 if you look left (not on this video..in real life) there’s a life size Zebra stood at the bottom of someones garden ❤️ Other obstacles are the metal hooks on the ground to tie boats to, especially if hidden under Autumn leaves 🍁 I get thanked for ringing the bell too, and hear many people complain that cyclists don’t ring their bells ..but words are as effective 👍🏼 I tend to ring from a distance first and most hear, then closer if not, and then words if they still haven’t heard…I usually say “I’m passing on your left/right” then say “Hi” x x x At 6:00 my Mum feeds that horse carrots cut up and bread every night ..I know his name but bad hormones are preventing me from remembering it currently! 8:49 THERE’S THE ZEBRA 😃🎉 on the right, looking over the fence ❤️ you went back on yourself so I got to spot it yeeyyy I had to zoom up a lot though lol😂 Ahh I’ve remembered the horses name now too …Geoffrey 😘🥰😍 I typed whilst watching, stopping and starting, otherwise I’d forget stuff! Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed that, being unable to get out much it’s good to see the places I love to go to too x x x My husband and 16yr old son have gone to Widdop today dressed in authentic Viking gear for a battle, and I asked if they’d stop at Tod Almighty for a Millers chocolate bar, so anyone seeing a Viking or two there , you know why now 🤣😂🤣 Love Julie 🌈✝️🕊️👍🏼
@@J.A.Madventures Thank you. Fair point on the bell. I think a silent pass is also bad. If you look my Facebook page up. Pickles Makes. You will see a few of my viking replicas. Hope every one has a great time. Hope you feel better soon. :)

Great video! Thanks for the info.
@@delaero Thank you! Happy you found it helpful.
Don’t know your budget, but have you considered 2nd hand, some good buys out there at the moment (my personal preference but I’d not take anything from Halfords, no disrespect to them)
@@jono_mtb Thanks. I absolutely get what you are saying about Halfords. I had the most horrendous time at the Rochdale store. I am using a cycle scheme voucher so unfortunately second hand is out of the question. I am looking for an XC style bike. Blazing saddles in hebdenbridge have been very helpful. I am also looking at a specialized.
@ have a look on tredz they use the same cycle scheme as Halfords.
Martyn Bennet - Blackbird. Your welcome.
The Black Cuillin ridge on Skye, the Peak about 4 mins in is "The In accessible Pinnacle" an awesome place 🙂
Thank you. I can't wait to see the island. A few years ago I went to Mull which was beautiful. Skye looks like it's not going to disappoint.
@@BikeTrekkingwithKarl I have climbed the "Inn Pin" and can safely say that even Danny MacAskill could not have ridden a bike up or down it 🤣. Great filming though and he does some amazing things. Have enjoyed your exploits around Calderdale, keep it coming.
@@tonyfarrell6925 That's amazing that you have climbed it! Thanks for watching the videos!
Love the seals little heads! It gives me sweaty palms too and I do t mind heights!
Hi all! This was a spur of the moment video to show this amazing video some love! I wasn't expecting the views it is getting. I feel I should link the original video so you can show it some love 😊. Leave me a like before you go haha ua-cam.com/video/xQ_IQS3VKjA/v-deo.htmlsi=tkwHUqADpAOFYVBu
I just bought a slightly used B17 narrow for my steel touring bike, be interesting to see how it fares against my Gilles Bertoud saddle which is the most comfortable saddle I have used to date....and it is on my Mountain Bike.
@@MerlinMan1579 Thank you. Let me know how you get on! I would love to know.
You did amazing 👍🏼 we good natured humans tend to beat ourselves up if we do a good or great thing …thinking we could’ve done it better 🤪 what you achieved here was well impressive ..and stopping before it got dark was WISE 👌🏼 well done x x x Widdop is one of our most favourite walks, a full circle one from the slack road car park (I never knew its name until I just saw your video ☺️) through the gate and all the way round this side of the reservoir and then two ways ..either at the footpath sign over the moor at the side of the res, well before the forest on the left, then across the moor to the rocks and down from there to the other res, or past the forest on the left and right over a little bridge I think 🤔 then past the big overhanging rocks and all the way back to the other reservoir where you saw the cute puppy x x x and we just walk back down the road to the other little car park x x x 🌈✝️🕊️ On your bike rides have you ever spotted the Rochdale cycling club on a Saturday with a Rickshaw? (Haven’t had the Rickshaw out for a few yrs now) …I rode to my wedding on the Rick shaw lol in 2007 with the cycling club following 🤣
@@J.A.Madventures Thank you. It made me realise I need to work on my fitness. Which I have already started! I am having fun getting out for early morning runs and learning new mtb techniques. I was just too slow Your wedding sounds brilliant! To be honest I don't think I ever have seen the Rochdale cycling club! I must keep missing them.
@ it’s good you can keep going out regularly x x x There’s not that many go currently, and less through the colder months, but a few yrs ago there was quite a few of us. It varies really x
I am at St barts now looking at the statue you mentioned! Thanks for the tip
The longest ride I did was with the Rochdale Cycling Club from Selby to York and back 60 plus miles 🌈✝️🕊️😇😘🥰😍 x x x Just abouts to watch this now, thanks x
I don’t have a phone, so it’s good to see how it causes human interaction ..asking where the chocolate orange sculpture was 👍🏼
Our favourite chocolate is from Valley Organics .the raw organic cacao bars with coconut sugar to sweeten 👌🏼oh and Miller bars from Tod Almighty ..in Tod 😏 x x x
The brown bits are fine on the apples, we have them in our garden, organic natural and tasty x x x We saw that brew place too, my son put a £1 in cos I wanted a mint tea bag, bless him 🌈✝️🕊️😇😘😍😍 x x x
Perfect timing 🌈✝️🕊️ your wife arriving around the same time as you ..I call them Godincidences 😇😘🥰😍 x x x Trusting in God x
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing your adventures 🌈✝️🕊️😇😘🥰😍 x x x
