We develop OEM vehicle platform training for the Towing and Roadside industry, deep dive vehicles in long form video format then publish those videos creating awareness of new platform market launches for Tow Truck Operators that will interest Vehicle Owners as well.
Material is relevant to Operators in the Towing and Roadside/Recovery, Repossession, Vehicle Transport industries. As new vehicle platforms become more technical and unique complications in their handling arise we work with OEM's and their Roadside Networks in determining best practices for these service events.

Mobile EV Charger Build with a Wgen20000c
After seeing the Mobile EV Charger build with the Wgen12000 Westinghouse reached out and wanted to participate in the giveaway. They gave us their flagship powerhouse the Wgen20000c. This unit will run a continuous 20kW (83A/240V) and peak at 28kW.
With the Wgen20000 as the heart of the new EV Charger there is enough capacity to charge 2 EV simultaneously at 40A each. Keep an eye on all of our Socials (linktr.ee/towtrucktech) for a 2 and 3 car charge video and a Model S charge that did not go as planned.
We learned a lot on the last build using those insights enabling us to build out this unit in about 25% of the time. We garage built this one too with the same basic hand tools as the previous Wgen12000 powered unit.

Know Before You Tow - Tesla Cybertruck
Переглядів 12 тис.10 місяців тому
We got our hands on a Foundation Series Tesla Cybertruck compliments of our friends at Resla (resla.com). Our formula remains unchanged here but Tesla has thrown some unique oddities at us on this one. We start out showing how to open the doors, Tesla has completely removed the door handles. Next we address the bed and front trunk. The low voltage system in Cybertruck is now 48 volt, it can in ...
How To Build A Mobile EV Charger
Переглядів 13 тис.11 місяців тому
Building your own mobile EV charger is easier than you might think. Spending $10,000 on a commercially available mobile EV solution is absurd when you can do it yourself for nearly one third the price while using better components. Here's the breakdown of the components we used, where we got them, and what we paid: Westinghouse Wgen12000c Generator - Purchased from Amazon - $2483.48 with taxes ...
Know Before You Tow - Tesla Model Y

The next Tesla on deck is the Model Y. As we’ve done in the past we are addressing the Towing & Roadside complications; 12 Volt Jump Start on the Lithium Ion low voltage equipped units, Lockouts, Hung Charge Cord, Shifting to Neutral and Connection points for loading to Rollback Tow Trucks. Unfortunately we have no weigh in this time, Road Ranger’s scale was on the fritz. We put it on the lift ...

Know Before You Tow - Mustang Mach E
Thank you so much for this video! It saved me and my car getting damaged for a tow!
EVs are a pain in the ass. We learning though
Ya boy said "This is built by 2 professionals and a knucklehead. This thing is not hard to build" 😂😂😂
I was just watching a UA-camr towing a Tesla M3 backwards out of the snow and was beside myself. I did a search on how to tow a Tesla and came across your video. Thank you. Now I know everything about towing my M3. Sometimes it's best to know what they're doing wrong so you can stop them from ruining your car. Great education. I'm saving your video to show a tow truck driver just in case.
This was excellent! I have had my CT for 4 months, and I thought I knew the truck pretty well. You pointed out several things I wasn't aware of. THANK YOU!
Do you sell the plans and diagram for the rig?
Thank you for making this video because I despise these pieces of shit.
Thanks sr!!!
Why left threaded😮 I just bought a Model Y. I was planning to place a 12v 23a battery inside the 1/2" threaded PVC pipe. I was then planning to screw on the PVC pipe with battery inside into the tow hook inlet. 😮 That's it! I'm selling my Tesla model Y. Fool engineering decided to go with left hand thread. 😢
ON THE R1S IT HAS A CLASS IV RECEIVER HITCH RATED FOR 7,700 POUNDS, THE VEHICLE WEIGHS 7,068 POUNDS THEREFORE IF FOR WHATEVER REASON SUCH AS A NON RESPONSIVE COMPUTER IM NOT SURE I WOULD RECOMMEND TRYING TO SKATE AND SLIDE THE VEHICLE ONTO A ROLLBACK WHILE PULLING FROM ITS HITCH. AT THE VERY LEAST IT WOULD MAKE ME NERVOUS.
Thanks
As a Cybertruck owner thank you for the very informative video.
Very Helpful. Just imported a flatbed from Europe, this is very helpful learning good practices. 👍👍👍thanks !
Great video, I'm an new cybertruck owner and haven't seen these details anywhere else. Its critical to know this kind of info before you are suddenly faced with an event unexpectedly and knowing some of these could change what would be a dire situation into a non-event in some cases.
Your vocabulary choice is interesting lol…gyrations and I kept thinking you said everything was fowl but the. I realized you are saying “involved”…
Good advice. You could however replace the steel bed with aluminum and gain some back
What brand of 8 point straps u recomend..the greens ones in this vid per say
As long as they have a rating tag, metal rigging and ratchet rated as well, I’m comfortable with it. Recommend staying with folks like Zips/AW Direct who supply the industry and not retailers on Amazon and such.
@towtrucktech1555 thanks for the reply..I have been using the 3 inch wrap around the wheel spoke method on my trailer but they are bulky.. wasn't really sure about the 2 straps ..but I'll give them a try
Why the fuck do those idiots hide the emergency release in the back, where kids would be? Every fucking time. Somebody is going to go postal in a Tesla plant because his kids burned to death in this piece of shit.
❓Question: which is better for the customer? If I just have my normal car that I drive, and I have to have it towed, is it better to have a flatbed or the wrecker (that grabs the front wheels)?b
Thank you. Very informative and extremely well presented.
Very professional, informative video! Just bought a model 3 and trying to learn all that I can. This was a great help! One note…. The rear passenger doors DO HAVE a mechanical release for the door. It’s a different design than the front doors that you demonstrated. Below the door handles, reach down and forward inside the lower door panel “cubby space” there is a small removable square cover. Inside that removable cover, there is a cord that pulls up and opens the rear door.
@towtk
(Carrier) aka The Redneck Rickshaw,,lol
Hilarious that guys on different channels still show the 4 point method that we used 20 years ago by going through the wheel spokes . Definitely scratches the wheels and guys with nice cars are super picky ( and I don’t blame them ) thanks for showing people how to do it properly …..
Hey, I’m curious what the smallest one you can build this? I assume you need at least a 12,000 W generator in order to be able to use this for level two charging is that fair to say? I drive a Ford F150 lightning curious what I would need to do to be able to do something similar.
First night home with the R1T, I wake up the charging plug is stuck. This was invaluable. THANK YOU!
Still very useful
This was exactly what I needed. Simple. To the point. Informative. Thank you!
The wonders of EVs.I prefer a hybrid instead .
Woof daddy
no flatbed no tow that simple....
And if they've lost the keys?
You’re skating it.
@@towtrucktech1555I figured. Hate skating because it's never an exact science.
Somebody actually purchased a Lightning?
There’s an emergency tow mode up to 50 miles
You can still tow it you gotta have it in neutral
People are making fun of me for back going back to the 90's vehicles.
Rollbacks go!!!
Ford just sucks.
Fuck Ford.
I wonder if there is a way to plug the charger directly to the cars battery and use the engine in the car to charge.
Correction: why it's a bad idea to buy a new truck
I don't understand why spinning a motor that is not energized would cause any problems. Failing that, you'd think all these brilliant engineers would have thought ahead about towing, and developed a workaround...
First rule - never buy one.
What?
Wow I’m shocked, ford still can’t make a a good vehicle, now they break on the road AND GET WORSE when you tow them back to get fixed. Good job ford, keeping the middle class down, one design after another!
Hi, good video, a question, if I have an inverter generator model 16,000 Watt Dual Fuel Portable Inverter Generator w/ CO Alert DuroMax XP16000iH Can I do this by putting the wall connector on it, thanks 👍
I have a buddy who was tinkering around with one of those and it didn't go well.
@@towtrucktech1555 Ok, thanks a lot for the advice. I'd rather not look at it. 🤣
No, he showed another reason why it's not a good idea to buy electric junk.
I wonder how long it would last also. Great idea but how much kwh does it provide per tank of gas and how long does it last? Did he actually try to charge his rivian completely with it? Did it over heat? Did it shut down midway? A lot of answer questions.
I like to see how you handle to lift this truck. Is easy speak on a video.
If it has 12V power and it can be powered on (and perhaps put into neutral if it has a pawl in the rolling drive unit) it should be fine. If I was an EE at Ford and I wasn't a complete moron, I'd design the inverter to handle a spinning motor without the contactors closed. It must be able to gracefully handle highway speed with the inverter powered up, in neutral or not (aside from an electric parking brake or whatever the lightning has)
