A Dirt Cheap Life in Paraguay
New Zealand
Приєднався 5 вер 2023
Want to know what it's like to live in Paraguay?🤔
In October 2022 we left our home in New Zealand to embark on a journey to find a new place to live! Sadly our ‘slice of paradise’ was changing. We no longer felt like we could pursue our lifestyle dreams in NZ.
Our first stop was Guatemala. From there we travelled down through El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica looking for a place to call home. Then we heard great things about Paraguay and decided it was worth looking in to.
We love it here but like any new country it takes time to get settled and get the basics organised - especially when you don't speak fluent Spanish.😬
Join us for the adventure & lots of information about our new home in Paraguay!

Life in Paraguay 2️⃣ How to Stay Sane When Moving to Another Country
This could grow into violence. They live there your foreigner. I would not feel comfortable in another country, trying to get some squatters off my property. Hope they don’t show up in the middle of the night with machetes .
Things can go wrong in any country. I know people in the place we were not foreigners in who had similar situations, and worse.
That is great to hear. We are heading to PY early next year and my son needs braces. Maybe we will check out some dentists while we are there.
Cool. Well, if you go to Caacupe we can recommend a great dentist there. Contact us if need the dets.
wow!
Yes - it was pretty crazy but fun 🙂
very cool
I'm from the USA and using google maps, I found the exact spot where ya'll were chatting from in Atyra. Plaza de los heroes Atyra
Haaahaaa....the eye in the sky! It's a nice spot.
I am an immigrant from South Africa to Australia, moved here when I was a child for a better life and opportunities I would not be afforded in Africa. So I find it quite shocking that there are Aussies who are actually aware and seeing this country going down the ****hole and are actually moving away. I suffered all through the mayhem of 2021-2022 in Melbourne having not participated in the genetic engineering experiment, and I find that I cannot come to terms with the general mentality of a whole country who were happy about the way people were treated during that time. I have been watching videos about moving abroad lately and am happy I found your channel. The cost of living here is awefull and extends to all aspects of life, the pollies don't give a sh** about anyone but themselves and their agendas and this country is going to be in crisis mode pretty soon, but not many people see it. Bit by bit I am seeing a way out thanks to people like you.
Thanks for the message. I feel for Sth African's who migrated for better lives. Now it's round 2 for many of you guys. Bit by bit, a different flavor of the same global program is rolled out in OZ (and every other Cwealth country). We speak to people who fled tyrannies in Europe (who are now living in Canada, Oz, NZ) and they reporting the same thing...they're watching there new countries go the same way. I guess the good thing is that because of your experiences you're probably better equipped to see it for what it is. Once you see it you can't unsee it, unless you choose to. And that's the headspace that many Ozzies are in. They choose not to see. Best of luck and thanks for tuning in.
Back home, yes, you can get a lot of things in jail but again, it is just a prison. Would you rather spend your life in a prison or your life on your own making something of yourself. Looking after yourself, your family, and your comunity should not be understated. You have a great perspective on life. I like it. I think this world would be a much better place if the world adopted your words of wisdom. My family and I are traveling down hopefully in January. Who knows. Maybe our paths will cross.
Thanks. Yes, we choose autonomy over comfort every day of the week. Thanks for watching. Maybe we will see you here.
My wife and I are excited about Paraguay and investigating the move. We’d love to meet people like you, is there a good way to get in touch with you, and the broader expat community in Paraguay?

As an Aussie who lived in Vietnam for many years I appreciate your wisdom. Thanks for your video.
Hey, thanks for the kind comment. I'm sure you have some wisdom to share also having spent much time in Vietnam. Thanks again.
Wow. Congratulations to CEDULA! Is it then possible to open an account in USD (or EUR)? If I transfer money to it or send my paycheck from the world regularly won't the government ask me to pay some tax? Are VISA or Mastercard cards issued for this account? What are the average account fees? Thanks for the info, I'm seriously thinking about relocating. Thanks!
Yes - once you have a cedula you can open a bank account in Paraguay. It's not straight forward though, Paraguay's banking system is very different, as they have strict money laundering laws here and the banks have different criteria for account opening. You can move larger sums, but you need to provide proof of where the funds came from. Many people just keep their accounts offshore and use credit cards & ATM withdrawals for their day to day living costs. Everyone is different. Thats a very basic answer to a question that is quite complex depending on your needs and situation 😉
Do they want to help you, or do they want to scam you? Seems contradictory
Depends on who you are dealing with. It cuts both ways. The majority of situations where people get scammed is due to them not conducting due diligence. There are snakes in the grass in every country. It's up to us not to get bitten, or at least take steps to minimize the damage if we do.
Hi I have seen many of your videos now, but can’t figure out why you are in Paraguay. Are you running away from your home country, escaping weather, taxes, immigrant muslims, laws…? Or did you fell in love with Paraguay, and made a sacrified moving away from home?
Without going into detail, we tired of the madness. If you live in the countries we were associated with and can't see the madness, well, I guess we'd be on a different page then. The madness hasn't come here to anywhere near the same extent. We didn't run away, we chose to leave. Meanwhile, we hear of many people who remained that live in misery. For us this was a choice of a better place and better life for our family. It was a great choice.
Had to laugh at the thumb
Good 👍 one! Thanks for the info! I hope to check Paraguay out in the not too distant future. I have also started working on my Spanish
Good work. language acquisition is the key.

@@HaveYourADVENTURE Gracias amigo. It's a big question for most people.
Good topic for discussion!
Donna paid $9,000 NZD about 10 years ago for her daughter. That’s incredibly cheap. You have to look in every country for good service. I’m heading to Fiji in a couple of weeks to get my teeth done cheaper than in NZ and I get a holiday.
Stop eating sugar and fruit and drinking sodas... And you won't need a dentist
We were adviced when we got our health insurance that there is a difference between "dentista" and "odontologo". Odontologo is trained professional and "dentista" can be anyone. Our insurance deliverer told us that some customers of "dentistas" have had catastrophic results.
They are the same. Odontologo/a is a more technical designation and dentista is a more historical and old name for the same profession. Currently, I believe the name of odontologo/a sounds more refined, professional, and more proper,
Oh, that's interesting. I've always wanted to be a dentist...I came to the right place!
Great infi! Ill be there in November looking for a dentist - and hopefully a good chiro or osteo or some amazing person that can put my rib back where it belongs. Is osteo a thing in Paraguay? 🙂🙏
We haven't used a chiro or osteo here but good ones would be here....somewhere.
@@ADirtCheapLifeParaguay Tks! I’ll let you know what I find🌼
How old are your kids? I’m asking because I have a fourteen year old boy and I’m wondering about the school, did you send them to a private school? Thank you in advance for the answer!
Hi there, they are 14 and 15 yo. We homeschool.
Beautiful, guys
Got to ask are they practising zero grazing? All the animals are penned. Is there a shortage of land? And who slaughters? Is there an abatoir?
The animals are grazing in the paddocks during the day and then they come into the pens in the late afternoon, are supplementary fed, stay the night there and go out again early in the morning. The animals are slaughtered at home. The chickens & ducks are normally free ranging but there are grain crops that have just been planted. Once they establish the chickens will free range again. There is no shortage of land in Paraguay 🙂
Are there work opportunities out there?
Do you mean on the farm or Paraguay in general? 🙂
@@ADirtCheapLifeParaguay Either really? I'm an old fashioned hands on kind of person, working as a Landscaper, Dryliner, Sach window restorer ect.. Have hobbies including producing food, restoration of motorcycles. So its interesting to see if there are economic opportunities in countries we in the west typically assume are undeveloped?
Looks great.
Great info, thank you!
Doing good things. Good on 'em!👍👍

Beautiful, congrats! Pizza hunmm, I love
Same in Brazil.
To find good cheese and bread try Casa Rica, an upscale supermarket in Asuncion (three different locations), with imported goods from Europe; they have a nice restaurant as well,
The burning of old pasture at the beginning of spring is not unique to Paraguay. This is accepted agricultural practice, and is done all over the world.
Exactly. Regardless, the climate cult spin doctors are trying to mark it up to climate change. In many parts of the world the climate cult is leading to rural communities not being able to clear their land...and then catastrophic fire storms ensue. That's why I covered this in the video.
Really is there a place slower than Kaitaia 😂
Yes - it's definitely slow/relaxed - but I don't think it's boring like Kaitaia! 🤣
Beautiful 👌
Whatbis the music in this video please? Artist and song name
The tune is 'I miss you more every day'. I can't get onto Pixabay atm so I can't tell you the artist. If you search for the song you can find and download it.
My husband wants to live there. He's dead set about it. I don't want to live there. We share 2 kids. What do I do?
We're in Greece. He dislikes Greece!!!
Tough one. I have been to Greece and I can understand why people would want to live there. But now with the craziness we're happy to here instead. I think being outside of the Europe control grid can't be a bad thing. I wish you well in your difficult choice.
I'm from Florida, USA citizen, if I want to buy, may I have your recommendation please 🙏
Very interesting sirs, I'd love to do that too.

As an expat temporary resident of Paraguay (MERCOSAR) can you work in Argentina
Hmmm not sure! You would be best to contact an Argentinian immigration agent to check that.
No, nor in any other country. There is a scheme were another Mercosur passport holder can live, work and also study here in Brasil for an initial two year period, provided they have no criminal record, after this two years they can apply for permanent residency if they can prove having sufficient income. A naturalised Mercosul Citizen needs to have a minimum of two years with their newly acquired Nationality before being able to use it to live in Brazil, Paraguay however do not allow dual nationality (Argentina does). But surely apply for Argentine residency if you wish to work there? I believe the above arrangement applies between all Mercosul /Mercosur countries, but you would need to check, but is only for Nationals not foreigners even permanently resident.
