Netflix Breaks Characters // Avatar: The Last Airbender

Long breakdown of where Netflix's adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender fails to adapt the story beats and character development that was driving the original show and why the first season of Netflix's ATLA is mediocre at best. I obviously don't own any of the content shown in the footage, all copyright remains split between Netflix, Paramount and Nickelodeon at different points in time, I'm...

With more news about upcoming additions to the Cyberpunk universe and a possible sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 it's obvious CDPR will have to choose one canon ending for the game. I did my best to voice my opinion on what ending will become canonized and why is it better for canon than any other one. one of the moments that broke it for me was coming back to constellation in NG+ in my starborn suit, and load them up on my starborn ship with absolutely zero questions or consequence, even after the hunter is revealed later.
When I played starfield I initially went into the vanguard and went through that quest line and took my sweet time with it. Then it ended and realized it was the main story and the rest of the game was just sub par. I didn’t even have powers
In my opinion we need one more game with V to become the ultimate legend. That being said I would like to think the cannon endings are 1) songbird is sent to the moon which means killing Reid 😪, 2) V is doing the diamond palace heist ( think that’s what’s the space station is called ) side notes would like Jonny to comeback somehow idc how but needs to come back
Would have been a much better story if you sought to destroy the unity. The creators sound like assholes.
The next game won’t have V in it so I think the panam ending makes the most sense as V will be out the picture and him leaving to be happy with her is the best option
In the chapter "Our Quest Is Meaningless" You point out the fight against starborn. Something I think a lot of people fail to realize is just how big an infinite multiverse actually is. In exactly half of all universes, the emissary is our enemy. In exactly half, the hunter is our enemy. If multiverses are proved correct, then there is a universe exactly the same as this universe except that one morning 20 years ago, I had a second bowl breakfast cereal. Infinite universes mean a lot of the same universes.
That's because bethesda is a trash company
bethesda making idiotic main quest that has no sense? it's like they never did that before since fallout 3
lol no wonder you hate Starfield. You love that dice rolling garbage game Boldars Gay 3
I wonder... The guy who invented the grav drive.. In this universe, he never became a starborn. You can see his corpse, and starborn disappear into sparkles when they die, right? Maybe the starborn version who started him on his quest took his time and his grav drive didn't have the flaws, but the guy in this universe rushed it and so his has flaws, and thus earth dies? I haven't played the game, so someone tell me if I'm wrong.
The main story should've been a quarter of the length, give the starborn a bigger role much earlier, and give purpose and meaning to entering the unity.
It had so much potential, but it's just a complete dud. Why not have the setting in a politically tense time? Prelude to a new war? Have the various choices you make along the way actually impact what happens. Join the Vanguard or the Rangers? That matters. Destroy the Ceimson Fleet or cripple the UC? That matters. Use the whole Xenomorph thing? What if the UC makes you an offer to pull additional data from the vault that they use to actually restart the xenowarfare program in secret. Earth? Why not have it destroyed by WW3? And the surviving factions are the remnants from the nation's that fought the war. It just makes too much sense. That provides a reason for actual tension. New Atlantis should be an actual Utopia, with the center of the city being a beautiful and sprawling city, with large tracts of farmland and homestead stretching as far as the eye can see. Give the Collective something to actually covet. Have the Freestar Collective be descendants from Russia and China and stuck on crappy planets, have the people be jealous of what New Atlantis has. The whole space magic thing? This should be a MASSIVE thing that all national governments covet. They should all be vying for you to show them how to access your powers to create their own super soldiers. Lose the entire alternate dimension crap. Add Aliens to the whole scenario. Perhaps working with House Veruun. Have them quietly working behind the scenes to destabilize the UC and the Freestar Collective so they can swoop in and take it all over. POLITICS. Maybe the Crimson Fleet was also funded by House Veruun as proxies. Maybe we can find evidence of this during the infiltration storyline. Choices should impact your companions more. Have more scenes where a choice means life or death for the people following you, or even fight you. Like the Crimson Fleet one, if you actually side with the Pirates, even after learning about their connection with House Veruun in this hypothetical scenario, multiple companions should straight up attack you, and you should never be able to set foot on New Atlantis again. Like, seriously. Choices. Consequences.
don't remember clearly but what sense does it make that you choose your superpowers? Don't recall if these things give specific powers or you choose, that's how memorable it was. The Skirim style is bs to me anyway... also, don't question anything... it just works lol. Also ghettos makes perfect sense. Capitalists need their slaves. Someone needs to do the shit jobs and be poor for others to be rich and do nothing but hold the guns. No wonder zombi games are so prolific, they say f this system, that's how it makes us feel, like being in a zombi apocalypse where we are the zombies (but at least we get to shoot them in games)
Here’s another issue with the armillary being multiple use. You encounter dozens of starborn in every universe you go into. This means that infinity of the starborn is greater than the infinity of universes. For every universe you go into, there are multiple starborn so they outnumber universes by 10’s of times. If the armillary remains active once you leave that means all universes will eventually have an armillary and what happens then?
I love that he used the panam ending god I love her
In Starfield's defense, as much as I hate to do so, it's not fair to compare the world build of a region to that of a solar system. It's also not fair to compare BG3 to Starfield, as there is literal decades of lore and people to talk too to flesh out the game and world. Starfield was a new idea all around.
Starfield is Beth's laziness on full display. Second only to Fallout 76 at launch.
9:56 i can actually believe that there are people who don't believe earth exists even though it's really easy to find proof of. I mean look at Trump supporters, flat earthers, neo-na**s, ras***ts, ped*ph... I'm just being redundant and listing off trump supporters xD
Welcome to the multiverse where anything goes. People think anything goes with the concept of Superman and it leads to bad writing thus bad stories that don't make any sense. The subject based on a multiverse says that ain't shit hold my beer.
The thing that really killed the game for me was when I stumbled upon a planet that had a quest that involved the super scary big slasher monster whose name I cannot remember, it’s like the death claw equivalent. I was walking around this facility covered in blood and bodies and massive claw marks on the walls. I found audio logs and I think even a person describing the carnage. I tensely rounded corners, sneaked through the facility with white knuckles, and prayed that my character would be strong enough to face whatever the hell was in the facility. And then I kept sneaking. For like 10 god damn minutes. Finally I started running around and firing my gun. No enemies. No nothing. I started googling and apparently there is an off world event that triggers the quest here. And apparently the quest itself is a bit of a nail biter. But now I knew this thing was here, I had no idea where to start the quest, and no monster spectacle at all. If the monster had escaped and killed everyone, wouldn’t it be around still? Waiting to ambush unsuspecting travelers and mercs such as my self? Why couldn’t I stumble across it and receive the associated quest trigger? Why did finding none of the data logs about this trigger a quest? This completely broke the immersion for me and what felt like should have been a really cool set piece turned into this bizarre let down of googling something for like 20 minutes to figure out if my game was bugged or if it was just shitty world design. The last thing you want a player to do is leave your game for an extended period of time to figure out how to play it. I literally uninstalled after that.
The only thing I did in startfield was be a space pirate. That's what you get for just *giving* me a ship 5 min. in
Good vibes, great arguments, solid presentation. You certainly got my sub. Keep it going!
Only good thing about the game is the sound design. It's very nice.
My man made better lore and world building than the people who got nasa and over 250 employees
At least the garbage story doesn't outshine the garbage gameplay.
andreja is pronounced as andreya. as female version of andrej - andrey. at least it should be
hahaha people are not reproduce any more thats why they dont make more than one village on each planet. no people
I swear to god if we see all of Bethesda‘s recent-ish trends continue for TES 6, we‘ll just get Daggerfall 2.
I just don’t like the eye contact the NPCs have, it’s very uncanny
14:02 “the rest of the planet is completely empty with a few exceptions being a few mining outposts” bro, there are civilian outposts on almost every planet including Jemison (across the ENTIRE planet, by virtue of the game’s procedural generation.) There is literally a civilian outpost VISIBLE on Jemison in the gameplay footage you used. Why is your critical analysis so shit? The settlements are smaller in Starfield because the people are more spread out and self-sufficient. You know, because they can just hop in a ship and teleport wherever they want. That’s pretty cut and dry, but you struggle to understand that very simple lore tidbit for whatever reason. Oh yeah, it’s because you’re dumb. You are literally too dumb to be able to enjoy Starfield, evidently.
"it just works" ..... But it didn't work Todd.
Well going with your criteria then elder scrolls make no sense too. And fallout. All dungeons are unexplored or seem explored but not looted. Fallout mostly plays after 200 years but you got loot everywhere...
Neon is the best place in the game, I also liked the resort place where people go on holiday, quests were decent, I liked the faction quests too, rest meh.
Just like everything else in the game, bland.
idk seemed pretty obvious to me the emissary is also evil but just pretends to be good
Akila city reminds me of of Red Dead Redemption old cow towns only there are no cows. So who’s shitting in the streets?
I remembered when I first walked into Akila. I thought it was this downtrodden frontier town just barely making it by. Everyone talked about how you can't leave the wall because of the wildlife, the local bank was taken over by bandits, and everything just felt ad-hoc and purely functional. And when I learned that this was not only the capital city of the second major faction, but the more powerful one, any illusions I had about the game completely shattered. I honestly thought the same toward New Atlantis. It didn't feel like a city when I landed. I thought it was a terminal to more settled areas. Like I landed in an airport, ready to be shipped off somewhere else. No...that was it.
Ironically the exploration killed the game for me. I was maybe 15 hours in and just wondering around on a planet, found a starborn ship and enemies. Killed them and went to check out their ship. Suddenly had a few realizations dawn on me- Why do they need to be at a human settlement? Why does their ship have a door. Oh. They’re human. Was a short jump to conclude multiple universes, a quick google short proved me right. I then turned game off and happily went back to No Man’s Sky. Still holding out hope Bethesda turns starfield into the game it should be.
Starfield is the first game that I've bought, installed, played under an hour, put it down and felt regret for buying it, only to never pick it up again. It's sat on my shelf untouched since release day. Maybe I'll pick it up again in a couple of years when I actually work through my unfinished games stack. But besides that, I have no reason to play it when I have much better games I can finish and great new games coming out all the time
For fvck's sake, make Starfield the "space dark ages" setting. Like in Chronicles of Riddick: the settled planets are few and far between, there is no global interstellar government, each planet is on their own, and beyong the safety cordons the planetary government established all bets are off, you could start a pilgrimage and vanish without a trace, space pirates are a grim reality rather than a nuisance and bounty hunters are a little better than those they hunting. But noooo, Bethesda failed to make it even a space western and made it a space ordinary life in big city.
Really strange how a generation raised on nihilistic consumer capitalism and a poisoned food suppy, ruled over by a hostile elite, would be incapable to create an engaging, hollistic story that would make sense.
Mods have better story
Even if the story was outstanding the gameplay is so boring I just wanted it to be over. I was doing a melee heavy build and could not have fucked up worse, the animations sucked so bad. Im just glad it was on gamepass so I could beat it the 1 time then pretend it was a bad dream
Where's the thumbnail from?
Ofc it makes no sense, it's a game, a Bethesda game...
I still think the Star Ending has the potential to continue Vs story specifically in relation to him finding a cure. The Aldecaldos have close ties with Stormtech and they specialize in biotech and nanotech as well as viruses. They happened to have an office in the Crystal Palace, so I think it's possible that V could be roped into that life again for the sake of survival.
V: Uses ICEBreaker literally designed to break Songbird's brain. Also V: "Oh no! She's gone crazy!" 😆
I feel like what Ive seen some others say about Starfeild: Bethesda got too ambitious and spread too thin, they could easily do a game like Elder Scrolls/Fallout in space but seemed to spend too much time on all these different ideas. Just make it one or a handful of planets that you can get a group to work on, maybe one for each faction, with a few locations on them, like 3-5 cities on a planet you can visit even a small portion would make things alot easier to ground themselves. Also maybe add something from orbit to show the inhabited planets have life, like citiescapes lighting up etc. Randomly generated planets can work too, just need to be implemented properly, exploring them can still be fun. People sometimes forget having limitations leads to creativity, and this game really could have used some grounding.
I think it's funny that most games now in days try to be like cyberpunk to be honest, you are in fall days starfield should have better another cyberpunk but better, followers should have been better, characters should have be more look on, ships and our character show be more than another dragonborn knockoff
get your head check if any of you like this game
