Today I change the reduction box and transmission oil on my 1967 VW bus. This process isn't too difficult and is pretty straight forward, especially with a repair manual. Just make sure to use the right oil, check it every 6000 miles, and fill the reduction boxes before the transmission! Replacing Heads On An Aircooled VW Engine In A Parking Lot (Bug Jam 2017)
I like everything but venting crank case into the carbs.
Excellent crazy price on the hinges 2 are the price of the solar panel. I will search and see if I can find some alternatives. Other than that great information great video.
What about a bay window hatch
stop calling it e break!!!! it’s not an electrical brake!!!
No,... but it is an emergency brake
I live in Indonesia, a tropical country with an average daytime temperature of 36°C. I have a VW T2 that also uses AC. The compressor uses Denso with 2 belts, the condenser is below and the evaporator is located above the driver, so that the rear passengers also feel the cold wind. When used, the power is reduced, so I increased the engine capacity from 1600cc to 1800cc and used a double carburetor. I also replaced the alternator to 72 amps to overcome the lack of electricity when driving at night where music and head lamp are on, plus the condenser blower and evaporator blower.
Thanks
would you be able to just bungee a panel down inlieu of the hinges? Just for a more temp solution or to not modify the rack?
I'm not sure I would trust bungees for anything but a temporary solution to get the panel to a camp site. Also not to sure about covering any of the solar cells with the bungee cord. I've heard that covering any part of a solar panel is not too good for it. Maybe you could add some sort of straps to the bottom of the panel that go to the original loops on the rack.
star shopping instrumental in the background in combination with VW, what a W channel
There wont be much power left after switch the air on.
With an original engine I'm sure it would feel a power difference, but with this 1904cc it doesn't really feel much different with the air on.
@@gottasplit5707 1900 CC is not immune to aircon power loss at idle especially.
Did you make a kickstand to get the panel to stand up? 😊
My original intention was to add a kickstand or maybe one of those spring hatch stays, but I ended up just putting a foam stick under the panel to keep it up.
This my next project, can you tell the two kits and parts you used? The GW one just don’t have all the stuff you received in that box, al so the Van Cafe one plz
I like those but hate the whining noise of the A/C blower motor
Does provide better heat also for cold weather
No, it's just for cooling air and has no heater.
Nice upgrade !
One quick question - do splines on 944 joints match the original axles or a person must use JXO axles? Thanks!
I think you could use the old axles, but id email the company just to be sure.
You must lube your Orings with refrigerant oil otherwise they will grab and damage the Oring and that will come back and bite in the long term, also the A/C drags heat out of the vehicle so regardless the whole vehicle will cool down the people in the back do not need cool air blowing on them to cool down, An ac or fridge or anything like that removes heat though the evaporator and the condenser they do not put cool air in as such if you understand what I mean, but great job guys in any case well done from down under A/c Tech of 30 years.
Nice Van! Is that engine big enough to run your van and an A/C compressor?
Excellent work. Where can i buy those parts? Im in South Africa. Thanks
The 009 is the joke of the vw universe. Don't think so ? Even Chevy 350s have a vacuum advance. All electronic programmable ignition have a programmable vacuum advance. Sooo... what is the 009 for ? Stationary generation engines ... Why would anybody put the distributor from a stationary engine ?? Who knows ?
Donde kompras todo ese kit de la palanca y barras de cambio.
The shift bars are re-used and I believe the bushings are from GoWesty.com. They also do sell new shift rods if you need them.
Hi I need some parts for my Vw transporter Syncro , how to get from you?
Hi, I don't actually sell any of the parts I use. you can try Gowesty.com or BusDepot.com. Good luck with it!
This is on my radar…
It's a game changer!
Did it. Ordered ours today. Took the jump. Just helped a buddy move a pop top onto a tin top. Pretty darn smooth too. That bus had the truck mirrors too lol Were excited about the land rovers though
Awesome!
Ok, full update. Bought them from Bus Depot. Quick delivery. Good price. Super easy install. Little strange getting used to the convex mirror design. Kind of makes me a little dizzy as I back up. Also, I think you mentioned this and the stabilization needs work on this design. They rattle and vibrate pretty good. I haven’t even been on any rough roads yet. But it’s a solid upgrade from stock. I probably should have went truck style but for now I can see. Thanks again for your content!
On the fence between these and the truck mirrors. These are definitely cheaper and easier to install…I just need to jump!
I originally wanted the truck mirrors, just couldn't get myself to drill more holes in the door lol. I do like the truck mirror look though.
I’m not worried about the drilling, I’m most concerned about $300 for some plastic and metal poles…lol
nice job you are doing but you should have taken the alternator for balancing to much wobling. but i like your work keep going
nice
Thanks!! Good job helped for sure
This has been quite helpful. Question: Those 2 bellows you show at approx: 13;38... I can see the part number is 251-711-16?F but Go Westy doesn't have a part number similar to that. Can you share the correct part number for those bellows and from whom you got them from?
Glad it helped! I can't remember exactly where I got them, but I think these are what you are looking for: www.buslab.com/product-p/251711167f.htm
Love all your videos, hope you post again!
Where did you buy your shift kit?
Thanks for the great video. I know it's been a while, but do you recall have any trouble getting the silver rings into the holes in the glass? If so, any tips? I can get them started but not all the way in. Thanks!
Been a long time, but if you're talking about the little washer things that go through the vent window, you could take a bit of sand paper or an abrasive cloth to the sides of the washer to get it to fit. Just be careful to not take off too much material or it might leak.
Nice video! I’m assuming that you drain the gear box from the two plugs but then you fill it up from the one full hole? Thanks
For my transmission yes, but I'd check just to make sure yours is the same
Were did you buy the a/c kit 🤔
Most impressive - well done! 👌🏻
Thanks!
I know that country well, and I like the tone of this piece.
hi, nice work, what are those tires?🙂

@@gottasplit5707 thanks they look very nice on those rims and the vw bus, i have also the same bus and rims, so i will go for that tire you have😀

Great video thank you. I'm about to do this on my 85 (T3) vanagon in the UK.
How’s the motor holding up? Are you still happy with the 1904?
Holding up well and still very happy with it.

Hey dude, how much…..
Hit up diywaterworld, he will turn that boat into an absolute gem!
Nice looking engine ! And nice little car show at the end !
Bro, can you please send the AAC instructions, I have lost mine
unfortunately I don't have my instruction paperwork anymore. If I remember correctly the sending wire just goes to the negative side of the coil, the positive goes to a fuse on the fuse box just for power, the power for the light goes to a piggyback connector on any other gauge bulb, and the grounds all get connected to any ground screw. there might be a forum or somewhere online to get the original instructions though. any other aftermarket gauge instructions should also work.
Your dad did a damn good job
Put another evaporator in the back for passengers
Great video! Thanks! I'm excited to do mine now!
And mind the two washer shims that sit in the engine, that the dizzy shaft goes into. You drop them in the engine, and it’s engine out and rebuild time. All the best 👍🏾🛠🇬🇧
