So what? Anyone can zoom into an image until it is too pixelated to see. The Seastar is great but not so much for planetary viewing... Moon, Sun and DSO it is much much better!

I missed the live show...lot to see in September including the comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS). I'm looking forwarding to capturing it.

The advantage of now having the new press only once to open the arm, is that you can't do what I did. I accidentally held the down arrow too long until the arm was nearly closed, causing a lot of what sounded like gear crunching, I had to hold the shutdown button on the back to stop the gears grinding. I've tried photo/video of the Sun and moon and it seems ok. When the skies clear I'll try it on deep sky objects.

I experienced the exact same issue with the moon last night, got 1 photo that was not centered, S50 spent 5 minutes trying to find the moon, rebooted the S50 as it locked up completely for some reason while searching for the moon. Pretty frustrating as I saw it slew right past the moon and just wonder off into Timbucktu lol

Mosaic mode is difficult because of the field rotation, i tried it today. With the eq3 Skywatcher i had no issues with the Moon mosaics.

I did notice issues when using my seestar last week. Lagging coming up, then moon mode would sometimes turn moon a full white color. I would get out of live view and return and would work fine again.

I haven't updated my firmware. I think I will hold back my update for sometime after your feedback.

One more thought. The Seestar program is getting bigger. Added languages, options, features, etc. If programmers are not diligent as changes are made, it's easy to overlook residual programming that no longer does anything except take up resources. Clean-up sometimes gets overlooked. I think we are all seeing little quirks pop up. Tonight, I lost centering because initialization took too long. Stopped it, refound it, started again this time with the galaxy centered. As users not sure what we can do other than complain. Just my thoughts.

Great if we have planned shooting since I usually leave the Seestar shooting meantime I am sleeping 😅

Looking forward to getting Saturn next month. Mid-atlantic weather has been good lately. Can't argue with zero clouds all night.

Planned shooting, I think, is a ASIAIR function. Works for me. You ever think about variable field rotation?

Watching your rerun. Fell asleep. I like autostacking, autofocus and the new filter option. My Veil capture took 47 minutes.

Good video, but I would say there's nothing major here, just some nice tweaks to the user interface. What people are really clamoring for is a automatic schedule for shooting multiple targets in a session and a mosaic feature to image a larger FOV in star gazing mode. THat would be a major update.

BTW you are COMPLETELY WRONG! It does NOT focus AT ALL! The images were TERRIBLE!!! I can NOT believe they have TOTALLY removed any hope of tweaking the focus! I am VERY unhappy! If you look in settings you can re-enable auto focus BUT, it kinda sucked anyway. ZWO….bring back our ability to tweak the focus or, I might have to sell and buy something better!

Great tutorial thankyou but i Can not see the point of this update. Found I had to stop to refocus and then start again which wasted about 5 minutes.

In my opinion a failed update. Losing control of the tube movement, automatic star imaging creating folders that are not needed, for instance when we want yo focus a brilliant star to focus with Bahtinov mask or syncing. And I missed needed update like mosaics or separate the restart, continue and cancel options when we pause that image taking (with gloves is so easy to push restart instead of continue ruining a session. I hope that they will fix all of this

Thank you so much for your excellent explanation of the new features of the SEESTAR S50. Your insights really helped me understand what’s new, useful, and less so. I genuinely appreciate all the improvements ZWO made to enhance our stargazing sessions. I have owned the SEESTAR S50 for almost a year now, and while I’m generally pleased with it, I can’t say I am completely satisfied. It is fantastic for capturing images of the Moon and Sun, but it falls short when it comes to Nebulas and Galaxies. If you have any influence with ZWO, I would love to see two key improvements in this unit: 1) The ability to plan stargazing sessions so the telescope can operate in standalone mode, allowing us to leave it to work overnight while we attend to other activities, similar to the ASIAIR PLUS. 2) The option to charge the unit while stargazing. I already damaged my telescope because the charging cable was attached to the moving body of the unit, causing it to fall. A fixed charging port would be ideal to avoid such issues and ensure the battery doesn’t die during the night. Once again, thank you for your valuable insights. Your review definitely deserves a 5-star rating. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

the update is garbage .... i dont know why they keep making things worse for EQ users

It needs an option to reinitialise whenever you need it.. for example I am having problems with hot pixels for the camera seems to warm up in the course of the session and I have no way to instruct it to retake darks... Custom objects is great no more "unknown" shooting I hope.
