Sensation & Perception: Information Processing in the Brain
Переглядів 131 тис.10 років тому
This episode shows the difference between sensation and perception, and explains how they interact to process information in the brain. Written by Dale Doty Produced by ByPass Publishing www.bypasspublishing.com copyright 2013
Anatomy & Physiology: Action Potentials & Axonal Transmission
Переглядів 16 тис.11 років тому
This episode explains the concept of action potentials in axonal transmission. Sodium ions cause excitation in a cell body, increasing voltage until crossing the action potential threshold. When the potential is breached, the cell sends a neurotransmitter to the axon terminal to be released. Script by Matt Sanders Produced by ByPass Publishing copyright 2013
Learning: Negative Reinforcement vs. Punishment
Переглядів 422 тис.11 років тому
Details the differences between positive and negative reinforcement as well as positive and negative punishment. Instructors have reported this as an area of common confusion for psychology students. Written by Peggy Mitchell Norwood Produced by ByPass Publishing copyright 2013
Biology: Heritability in Behavioral Genetics
Переглядів 7 тис.11 років тому
This episode explains how and why genetic heritability is measured in terms of "variance" rather than magnitude, and why we can only determine heritability rates for groups rather than for an individual. Written by Matt Sanders Produced by ByPass Publishing copyright 2013

Positive reinforcement is for the motivated. When it comes to to beginner start to learn, it is always the “failure will have consequence” is the best which build humanity from the ancient time.
Very helpful, thank you
Could you turn the music up a little bit i cant hear it thx
you're awesome
00:03 Distinguishing negative reinforcement and punishment 00:20 Reinforcers strengthen, Punishers weaken voluntary responses 00:37 Positive reinforcement is more effective than punishment for changing behavior. 00:49 Understanding positive and negative reinforcement 01:06 Negative reinforcement increases likelihood of response 01:19 Negative reinforcement strengthens a response by removing a stimulus. 01:37 Negative reinforcement and punishment suppress bad behaviors 01:51 Negative reinforcement stops response, reinforcement encourages response Crafted by Merlin AI.
Perfect! But why was the background commentary so loud? I couldn't listen to the music at all.
2 min explained everything ✌️
Fantastic video!
cognition constructs perception and perception directs cognition
can you at least lower the music in the background its hard to listen and understand thank you
Punishment is the execution of the negative reinforcement threatened?
*Reinforcers - Adding or taking away a stimulus that encourage repeat behaviours.* [EG, rewarding good grades by ordering takeout] [EG, rewarding good grades by taking away household chores for a month] *Punishers - Adding or taking away a stimulus that discourage behaviour.* [EG, giving a fine for speeding] [EG, taking away drivers license for speeding]
this is so clear and super easy to understand . Crystal clear . Thanks for this , it really helps with my work now !
Thank you for breaking it down in such simple words
we are passing the exam bro
loved the yoinky sploinky music in the beginning
great video but the music is slightly loud and distracting in my opinion
A video 10 yr before 😢thankyou
Please lower the music. It’s very difficult to process what you’re saying
Fixed Interval: Waiting a SPECIFIED amount of time until being reinforced. (being paid every 2 weeks) -Low response rate that increase when closer to reinforcements Variable interval: Waiting for a particular amount of time until being reinforced (elevators) Fixed Ratio: Being reinforced for an x # of times Variable Ratios: Doing something an unspecified # of times to until reinforcements (gambling)
shush
such an awesome variable interval example!!
Thank you!! I kept confusing the two but this helps.
Music is louder than the voice. Doctoral student or not..
But what if you like summer jobs, it’s not negative!
Bravo on this. Finally have a good illustration for parents in under 3 minutes! Outstanding work, over there you all!
Came here from Ultralearning
I hate psychology.
Awesome ❤❤❤❤
Fixed ratio: a specific dollar for every blouse Variable ratio: Gambling Fixed interval: monthly salaries Variable interval: surprise quiz
nice! <3
well explained !
punishment is a 1.positive reinforcer 2.nagative reinforcer 3. not a reinforcer 4. Not anyone. Sir please send me answer with proof book name & page number. My result depends on this question. Please sir
Punishment is not a reinforcer because it weakens behavior.
The example doesn't involve manipulation, doesn't that make it an observation instead of an experiment? Also the groups are not randomised, so I believe that would make it a quasi-experimental design. Please correct me if I'm mistaken:)
m8 i hope the music got quieter in your more recent videos lol. just a little background noise and there's too much conflicting information that i can't even process the words
Thanks a lot
Great channel bro
thank you
You're welcome!
Came here to also say the music is very distracting in the video.
Thank you ☺️ sir
This is the best explanation I have seen. The breakdown of "forward" while showing the arrow really helped me a lot. This visual learned appreciates that so much!! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
This is generally a good channel however, in this one, they have confused punishment with negative reinforcement. A correction for not complying with a command is not punishment because we are not trying to weaken our behaviour, in fact, the opposite we are trying to strengthen it. Therefore, it is negative reinforcement. We use punishment and we have a behaviour already and we want to stop it like digging holes for example. Should point out. This is a common mistake made by those that really don’t understand the science.
It would be negative reinforcement if we were removing something aversive, here we are adding something aversive (Positive Punishment). "Corrections" like Yanking/Swatting/Yelling are likely unconditioned punishers for the dog, and might in turn decrease whatever behaviour the dog thinks it was doing to receive these. Since we cannot reason with a dog like we could a human, it might be preferred to use forms of positive reinforcement as a main way of changing dog behaviour :)
I'm currently studying psychology and am already preparing for the first exam. However, I'm stuck on a question/topic and can't get any further😩. Maybe someone can help me please. "Which direction of information processing sets in when you start worrying about going to the restaurant before entering the restaurant. What role do higher-level knowledge structures play, what role do environmental stimuli play?" ... I think it all has to do with scheme and bottom-up/top-down, but I don't quite understand what it has to do with thinking before entering a place. I don't understand that at all. It's about 2 work colleagues meeting again after a long time in a course "social cognition" but both of them didn't have much to do with each other before and the woman suddenly finds him sympathetic and that's why the two meet in a restaurant (but the story has nothing to do with love).

It’s top down processing.
Thank you.😁 I could not find any videos on this topic except yours. You should search UA-cam and try to find videos nobody has or talks about. For example I can't find any videos on: CHEMICAL STRUCTURES ON FOOD FLAVORS and there's not many videos on ENERGY TRANSFORMATION 💯
When one is born, his innate IQ (Intelligent Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient), SQ (Spiritual Quotient) and MQ (Moral Quotient), along with the potential of hobbies and skills, temperament and characteristic are all different from his parents’. What is the reason? The Light of Wisdom Church has a well-spoken question-and-answer book that I recommend to everyone. Let's discuss and learn together. ua-cam.com/video/FP5AVyE-Hf4/v-deo.html If you think it makes sense, we must not only believe it ourselves, but also spread it to more people. Evangelism is not only the job of pastors, but also the responsibility of every believer. This is also the aspect that the Lord values most when ascending to the kingdom of heaven.
jeeezus thank god, this helps fr man, i was seeing the other videos on scheds of reinforcement nd lemme tell u they were all p ass, keep up the g work g
The video is great but the music isn't it in my opinion. Kind of stresses me out, because it is relatively loud and much faster than the talking speed.
Perfect explanation … thank you so much .
Well explained! I can't believe there are no comments. You deserve more!
LOL. Thanks! Glad it helped you!
thank you very much! 🙃🙃
You're welcome!
sounds like sam'onella
