The Caledonian Sleeper Train from Scotland to London 🚞 The Caledonian sleeper train is an overnight train between Scotland and England. We took the lowlander route from Glasgow, which left at 11:40pm and arrived in around 8:00am. A usual day train would only take around 4.5 hours, but as the sleeper isn't a high speed train, the travel time is longer - this allows for a full night's sleep. You ...

How to Live More Simply 🌿 There was a time, you may remember it, when the world slowed down. Life became strange but simple, home was everything, and, without the competition of engines and machinery, birdsong rang out clear and true. But then, that year or two passed, to be talked of no more, and life sped up again - now at ten times the speed that it was before. “We cannot go back to the way ...

Dealing with Seasonal Depression by Embracing Simple Joys 🌷

Dealing with Seasonal Depression by Embracing Simple Joys Ah, it's been a tough Winter this year. Coming out of it, my mood has been very low, verging on a kind of seasonal depression. I use my SAD lamp, go to the gym, and get outside. But still, the lingering low mood remains. I recently learned a new term which covers it: anhedonia. The middling, "bleh" feeling that doesn't feel bad enough to...

Slow Living Winter Vlog 🍃 Lessons from a Storm Hi friends. I'm going to be honest, the last month or so has felt pretty tough for me from a mental health perspective. Along with the dark winter nights, we've had near-continuous storms across Scotland. Things have been cold, grey, and damp for just a little too long, and it's been making me feel really low. This slow living winter vlog is a way ...

Brilliant. Really well researched and presented. Great work.

I love it💁
Hi Kat, thank you for your lovely video❤I was slightly surprised when I noticed a wooden board in Russian on your kitchen table, as I am Russian. I even have something similar at home, so I dared to leave you a comment😄
Brilliantly presented, thanks very much for that 🙂👍
Your videos are the ones I am waiting for ❤ Always so calming, colourful and sweet. Keep filming, Kat 🥰And thank you for your work.
Thank you for another wonderful video. Every tip is simple yet inspiring😊 I especially liked what you said about hobbies and the quotes you selected for each tip😉I wish more people would be able to benefit from your wise musings❤️will be waiting for your next video
Lovely video! I’m so glad I watched, it was a wonderful way to spend a quiet cloudy Sunday morning. Really enjoyed your word usage it’s very poetic. Your videos are always relaxing and to me almost have a ‘Scandinavian’ feel to them, maybe that’s just how Scotland is. Thanks again, looking forward to the next one
Hi Kat, spring is my favourite & autumn my second with all the beautiful hues. I love to give the house a good clean & make it warm & cosy ready for winter. Thank you for a lovely video 😊
I'm going to go back & watch all the other book videos, first, before this.
I'm always excited to see a post from you! You have a very lyrical mastery of language and your videos are visual poetry. I know I've left this comment before, but you really do need to write a book or short story! Autumn and winter are my two favorite seasons! Spring is exciting because of all the 'new' in nature. Then there's summer... the older I get, the more I dislike humidity and excessive heat! LOL Where I live (western NC), this autumn has been somewhat challenging due to all the election drama and the post-effects of tropical storm Helene. However, all is good! Thanksgiving is just around the corner and then...CHRISTMAS!!! My all-time favorite time of the year!!!
Beautiful video, I’m from North Carolina USA. Our mountains look similar to yours, but it’s a dream of mine to visit Scotland some day!

I'm wondering if my ancestors moved to Ireland because of the highland clearances or because they were jacobites
It was the Malcolms of Poltalloch near Lochgilphead, who evicted from Arichonan! A sad place indeed, even when the sun is shining. ........Mairead Bheag.
Great video! Scottish history is so interesting, and also one of many trials and tribulations. Side note- I love your jacket
Some were relocated to the Coast..now a fishing village ! Many moved to Countries with Sheep and therefore out competed the erstwhile removers.
What a beautiful video, and I'm so sorry for your loss 🤎 Really enjoyed watching this! Supporting you from the UK as a fellow UA-camr 🥰
Thank you so much for your kind comment, I really appreciate your words :) All the best with your channel!
Thank you for making this video and your empathy for our ancestors❤
I'm in love! 😮😊
Don't forget about us Native Scots speakers! We have nothing in place to protect our Scots language.
Remember this was Post Culloden (1746) The Anglo-British state went all out to Colonise Scotland - Part of Colonialism is, of course de-population, by any means.
A fair number ended up in Ulster.
Thank you for all the recommendations! I am currently taking a seminar on Contemporary Scottish Fiction at my university and I was glad I stumbled upon this video. It might even help me choose a book for my term paper 😊
That course sounds amazing! I've got a whole playlist of Scottish reads if that helps (some more recommended than others haha!) ua-cam.com/play/PLRVWgI5w6RRMkPeXrrqAs7cQ7osOEYn0I.html
@@PilgrimKat that's great, thank you! I'll have a look at it
Such a pretty young girl as narrator..❤️❤️
Heartbreaking story... 😢
Beautiful video loved watching it.
Thanks for this video! Ive been looking for alternatives to scrolling and this was perfect.
I'm glad it was helpful! Thank you for taking the time to comment :)
Beautifully done 💗
Thank you <3
Lovely video ❤ Where was the bookshop ?
Thank you! I believe it was Daunt Books on Marylebone St :)
The alteration of footage to disscussion, the editing, cool to warm color contrasts, overall color scheme, voulme consistency- the all in all vibe, it was really there. There are just so many details to point out but it can be summed up as high quality. I rarely comment on stuff but I think it's super important to tell (what I think as) smaller channels when you have everything there. The only reason I can think of as to why you don't have more attention is the algorithim so keep that confidence high.♥
What a kind and wonderful comment, thank you so much for your encouraging words ❤️
I'm so sorry to hear of your grandfather's passing. What a lovely memorial to your grandfather. Treasure the memories you have of your grandfather. You have such a sweet and sensitive soul, As you spoke of seasons of life it brought to mind that there are many folks in my area of western NC currently going through probably the worst trauma they will experience in their life. [Google 'tropical storm 'Helene' and Appalachian mountains.] I have been without power, internet, or cell (text & call) service since last Friday at 7AM. Fortunately, my property did not sustain any damage. I was extremely fortunate! Live each day with purpose and as if it were your last.
My condolences on the passing of your grandfather. It is helpful to be reminded of the solace to be found freely and abundantly outside as we walk through these seasons of loss. May you know the blessing prepared for those who mourn.❤
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment, and sorry it took a wee while to reply - have been taking a wee break from the "online world" over the last few weeks.
Your video brought me to tears of joy. You're such a beautiful, sensitive soul! Your grandfather will always be with you. Peace!
What a meaningful comment, thank you for taking the time to watch and write, I appreciate it so much!
@@PilgrimKat From what I know of you through your videos I have a feeling you'll be okay!
'Driech': beautiful word!
I'm so sorry for your loss! Thank you for sharing these sweet moments and opening up about your feelings. There are so many layers to life and there is sadness and beauty in all parts of it. All we can do is keep living in every moment while it lasts.
Thank you Daria, yes I very much find that. Somehow the nearness of death makes life all the more vibrant and precious.
Sorry you lost your grandpa Kat but so glad you have lots of happy memories ❤ xx
Thank you Suzanne, it is a sad thing that he is gone but a very happy thing that he lived the life he did x
Very sorry for your loss. I always enjoy your updates!

Thanks for the visit to my old life in Seattle. I moved clear across the country in 2015 to help my Mom stay struggle free in her home of 50 years. She passed in 2018 and I could not afford to go back to Seattle and in addition watched it from afar go down hill. It use to be fairly safe and without people struggling on the streets for the most part. I lived near Port Townsend, on a sailboat in Winslow and then Seattle.
Sorry for your loss! Tak care, hen x
Thank you Duncan x

I absolutely loved your video, thank you! Pls can I ask what time of year your walked it? Many thanks!
Thank you! It was in May...though it felt like we got all the seasons 😅
@@PilgrimKat I'm wondering about the gear I'd need in springtime and mentioning May made me curious, so I checked the earlier comments: it was actually the second week of April.
