Thanks for the recommendations. Currently reading Our Southern Highlanders (Appalachia). If you are an R.L. Stevenson fan check out his Prayers Written at Vailima. He spent his last years in Samoa.
Thank you for all the recommendations! I am currently taking a seminar on Contemporary Scottish Fiction at my university and I was glad I stumbled upon this video. It might even help me choose a book for my term paper 😊
That course sounds amazing! I've got a whole playlist of Scottish reads if that helps (some more recommended than others haha!) ua-cam.com/play/PLRVWgI5w6RRMkPeXrrqAs7cQ7osOEYn0I.html
Such a great cosy video! I keep meaning to really dive in and read the Waverley novels - bit worried that it might take me a while... Will your dad be publishing his mystery books?
Thank you so much🤗 Ah the Waverley novels! Really want to read them sometime as well but not sure where to start to be honest! And I think he hopes to get them published, but hasn't decided whether to self publish or go the traditional route.
Congrats on ur recent move! Ur book list looks very intriguing! I'm a very visual & tactical person....I never developed a passion for reading. The last book I can remember reading was way back in the early 70's.
Thank you! 🤗 Will share more news in the coming weeks. I suppose it's only been in recent human history that stories have been written down - sometimes I long for the days when people would memorise stories and pass them down the generations 🌿
Hi Kat, I would definitely consider reading' The salt path ' I've heard of that book before & I love true inspiring stories. Thank you for the book suggestions x
The Sterkarm Handshake sounds interesting. I also like the subject of Clans of Scotland. Right now I'm reading " Death by Pumpkin Spice " It's a cozy Autumn mystery. When your dad's book is out for sale please announce!
Thank you for an interesting video. My wife and I are actually making our first trip to Scotland this fall. We will be stopping by on our way back home to Canada after visiting Israel. While in Scotland, I was planning on picking up a book or two. George McDonald looks pretty interesting. Thanks again! Be well.
@@PilgrimKat We're planning Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Skye. Israel, of course is always great and we've been there 16 times. But we are REALLY looking forward to your lovely land.!
I don’t know much about what authentic Scottish romance is but as soon as you said “kilt fetish” I was like that was DEFINITELY the Outlander book that I recently finished lol. I just got back from the Highlands and “A Scottish Country Escape” for me and my husband was less romance and more “Battle with the Scottish midge” lol
Haha I didn't want to say it but yes...a beautifully shot series but I have mixed feelings about the book (at least what I've read) 😅 Battle with the Scottish midge sounds about right!
As for Robert Louis Stevenson and Scotland landscape you MUST read, Kidnapped. It is an adventure all through the Scottish highlands. Fictional tale based on a true historical event.
What books are you reading this Autumn? Let me know in the comments below 👇🍂

Aw cool, that sounds right up my street! Will need to order a copy 🙏
Lovely selection of autumn reading, I would love to read them all, except maybe not all the mystery books😊
Thanks, we'll see how I get on - my list is often a lot longer than the time I have! 😅

love this video, are you actually going to get through all those books in autumn! I have jekyll and Hyde, love it.
Thank you so much! We'll see haha, I'm a couple in but do have a tendency to be overambitious with my reading lists :)
@@PilgrimKat me too, I think about one a month is good for me
