The whole reason I started investigating preout voltage on AV receivers was because of that system I put together for my Uncle. 300+ people at his party and as everyone got drunker, the music got louder. I cringed when the Yamaha receiver (used as a preamp only) was shutting off :( As for the Trinnov amp, it's designed to work with a high gain preamp like the Trinnov Altitude, or Marantz AV 10, Anthem AVM90 or Storm ISP Processors, not an AV receiver. This reminds me of HiFi reviews of the 1970's. Before the magical flowery language developed in reviewers, actual specifications were discussed. The letters pages were full of enquiries about whether this preamp could drive that power amplifier, and the like.
The issue is, that you seek the advice of 101 audio professionals, likely you’ll get 101 opposing opinions. Many of them claiming that their opinion is factually or scientifically based. They use the scientific data that best supports their viewpoint and that may be totally opposite to an equally factually based opinion. In the infamous words of Paul Simon:- “a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest”. I plead guilty to that. So, how is the ‘common or garden’ audiophile supposed to differentiate the shit from the shine, the wheat from the chaff. Personally, it’s taken me 35 years of hard earned money, costly mistakes, ignoring good advice and following poor advice, to assemble a hi-fi system that reproduces music the way I like to hear it. Yeh, I still watch, listen to and read audio reviews, scientific or other. But I regard it as a spectator sport. There are 3 UA-cam audio reviewers whose experiences and opinions closely match my own. These are the channels I initially turn to when contemplating purchasing a new product. I've recently looked deeper into surround sound, specifically dolby atmos. Currently, the best price to performance speakers for 7.x.4 seems to be the MTM MKII near field studio monitors, with their 11-pack Immersive Bundle. Would be great if we could get a review of just the regular stereo setup, to know how they fare against something like the Kali IN-UNF, to determine if they're worth around $500 per speaker.

That's way more than even the video footage showing a crab moving on Venus by a Russian Space Probe, but not as many views as old ladies arguing using vulgar language. But still, Randy's video is a cinch to top the 1 million views mark by late Spring.
The Old British ladies having a vulgar argument will be hard to beat, (over a million views, and there were numerous episdes). The answer to my trivia question in a previous post is Marantz. Marantz IN Yiddish (I'm not Jewish), means ORANGE. Saul Marantz was one of the true pioneers of audio. He was friends with Henry Kloss; another big one.
With all great comedy (RCAs from your TV! If it came from my mouth - it is Scientific Fact!), there is always a grain of truth ($10K better work with everything for the rest of your life). Thank you for your awesome channel - it is sorely needed on UA-cam, and even more in our hobby.
Wouldn't it be nice if manufacturers stuck with well accepted universal specs ;). Buckeye amps have variable gain settings to help resolve some of these issues. Its a shame most YT channels don't feature them, as they are excellent on both performance and price.

The result is a lot of quality loss - of any good analogue source that’s plugged into any WiiM products. In case people didn’t know.. 😉 Finally found a replacement for my WiiM amp - Fosi ZD3, as I only used HDMI ARC for my TV on it, WiiM sounds wimpy to me. BTW Eversolo just pushed an update that deals with screen powering ON during volume changes (if it’s set to off). Should be coming to the A10 if it hasn’t already, love my A6 MA with LHY LPS, getting the A8 in a few weeks 🙌😁
Yes, I just got the Eversolo firmware update the other day and I switched the screen OFF when changing volume. Now if Yamaha can release a firmware update on the A-S2100 that lets me select the balanced input when the trigger is used to turn on the unit (yes, I know there is no firmware on the A-S2100). 😔
first time here. I was attracted by the Scientific Audio name, because I often despair at the lack of critical thought applied when considering audio products. The absolute subjectivity of human hearing is mostly ignored, or even, apparently, unknown to many people talking about audio. . yet listening is what playing recorded music is all about. so an audio content channel with science in the title drew me like a moth to a lightbulb. I really think some of the famous old blowhards that are still out there reviewing stuff are bad for the hobby, and should stick to telling stories , the skill that got them hired by audio magazines in the first place, way back when.
I like your videos. One reason is that you are funny. The other is that you make the explanation simple as to why something is good or bad. Your wine rating is too complicated for me. I just drink tap water and coke. But because of you, I bought the Fosi SK02. You said it's not bad and it's easy to use. For my desktop setup, that's exactly what I need. Then I also bought the Fosi V3, because you said it's not so good, and I wanted to be a little bit of a bad boy.
Amplifiers were perfected in the 1970's so todays amplifiers are selling expensive pretty boxes. The Armsrong 626 and Sansui R50 are still good amplifiers well capable of powering Spendor BC1's.
People complaining about the audio need to stop buying from other UA-camrs & upgrade their setups! If you aren't listening to S|A thru a (minimum) $10,000 system, well baby, you just ain't listenin'. Upgrading the power cable is a good starting point. Chris, perhaps you need to make a video on how people should watch your videos.

Class D is not digital. And there are such a thing as digital amps. Some NAD ones come close as the signals are kept digital until the output domain. They will convert analog signals to digital right at the start too.
@mattholland315 Class D amps are not digital, but they can be as NAD does, they name them 'HybridDigital'. All incoming signals are preserved as digital, and analogue ones are converted upon entry, although NAD does enable you to keep the analogue signal unconverted if you wish.

I acknowledge life is not fair and buyer should beware, but I’d like to be someone who exposes products that don’t play well with others. Like HDMI never having a real locking standard!
@@scientificaudiophile but I wouldn't necessarily expect a niche product like a $10,000 amplifier to play nicely with all other products. A $2,000 integrated by Yamaha? Sure. The more esoteric, the more unique. Because of that, I would not expect the broad range of compatibility that you say should exist.

That faction of self-styled audiophiles have lost sight of the definition of "high fidelity" -- AKA "hifi" -- in the context of reproducing recorded music: "great faithfulness" to the intentions of the creative folks who performed, recorded, mixed, and mastered that music.
