This video was deleted for some reason, it was uploaded originally in 2022. The air conditioner is from what I have gathered a 1979 model (if wrong, please correct.) It has a Tecumseh AE reciprocating compressor. I did later clean it up properly, and it cleaned up well. I also believe this unit must have been installed in a kitchen or something. I originally thought it was full of cigarette tar...

      XP loosing support didn't really change much. It still works fine. XP is far better than Windows 7, Windows 7 is the last good operating system Microsoft made, but it still isn't as good as XP.

    I don't like that you can only use an apple monitor, but that apple for you.

    • @WalterKnox
      @WalterKnox 14 годин тому

      Yep. That monitor died, and I am certainly not buying another one just so I can use these old computers. They are also useless anyway, a PC from the same era could be loaded up with Windows 2000 or XP and still be useful, but macs after 10 or so years become completely obsolete. They also take special hard drives which I don't have, and only a couple of them have working hard drives, and one of the "working" ones only starts after you hit it.

    This is just beyond ridiculous, cable companies these days just want their customers to get the newer high end things which will likely cause more problems than what already was. I remember I grew with 4250s when I still lived at my old house before we moved all the way down to the farm, which we had no choice but to stick with satellite when we moved in. I even ended up having that same 4742 box at my other house I own near the lake, but it has a manufacture date of November 1, 2016. Charter just doesn’t make sense, especially since I heard that they’re making a bunch of their customers get rid of these older boxes around my area since last year to get the high tech stuff, but the funny part is that I still see lots of them working on occasion including mine..

    • @WalterKnox
      @WalterKnox 2 дні тому

      Yeah, one of my mother's friends had an 8240HDC which is essentially the DVR version of the 4250. About a year ago, they sent her a box with a new "spectrum" box and a note saying her old equipment was going to be unsupported and stop working. The new box they gave her didn't pick up on half of the channels she paid for, so we took it up to the Spectrum store, and they said that the new "spectrum guide" boxes would do this on legacy TWC accounts (accounts that were with Time Warner Cable before Spectrum took over,) and could not be used on such accounts. They pressed a few buttons on their computer, took the new box back, and re-activated the box she had previously, and she is still now using it; so that was just a lie and a waste of everyone's time and resources. And then at the same time I know someone who has at least 2 (used to be 3, but I think they got rid of one) of the 4250 boxes, and they never got any sort of notice or anything, and they are fine, so I don't know what Spectrum was on about with that one. It seems like they love to say things are "unsupported" and won't work anymore, even though there is no basis in reality to support those statements.

    • @WalterKnox
      @WalterKnox 2 дні тому

      Forgot to mention it, but the 4742 box that was in this video (they had just given it to me then after refusing me a 4250) is already acting up... After 2 or 3 days, it will play just fine, but if you press guide, channel, or anything else, it will lock up and say "please wait," I then have to restart it, and it gives me some sort of error code and says it can not continue to boot, then it boots and works fine for a few more days. I am not going to try to return this one yet though until it stops working completely. I was thinking of maybe calling them and having them send something from their warehouse instead of from the store, but something tells me that even if I request an older box, they would just send out a new one which I can't use because the past few times I went into the store, I had to argue to even get the 4742.

    Keep in mind, you get this two-step verification crap EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE TWO-STEP VERIFICATION ENABLED I can't even upload a video to my UA-cam channel, because I keep getting a prompt that says "Verify that it's you" whenever I enter UA-cam Studio. If I try to login with the CORRECT password, I get thrown to a screen that says I have enter a phone number to continue. Once I enter a phone number, I get thrown to a screen that says "You didn’t provide enough info for Google to be sure that this account is really yours." Hello, I'm literally signed into that same account i'm trying to log into on Google Chrome, and not to mention, I'm signed into every Google Service on that same computer. It's kind of flabbergasting that this error screen tells you to "Use a device where you’ve signed in before" and "Use a familiar Wi-Fi network, such as at home or work" despite I'm doing just that. Account Recovery just does the same thing I mentioned before. Not to mention that their 'support' page is a bunch of cumbersome forums are just a bunch of randos with unrelated issues, it's either that or their stinky AI chatbot, there's no REAL support person that you can talk, even if you were to post a forum explaining your issue, you're just met with a generic corporate response, to do the same thing that you've already done. I hate how everything needs two-step verification, I don't care if I get hacked, I just want to LOGIN to my account.

      The belt on the Hoover wasn’t worn out, maybe slightly stretched but not enough to majorly effect performance. The belt on the Eureka was much more worn out to the point where it had splits in it, but it was still fine because it has a better pulley with a deeper groove.

    • @WalterKnox
      @WalterKnox 15 днів тому

      Most LED lights are. The main thing that kills LEDs are being over driven and a lack of proper cooling. Most modern LED bulbs and fixtures combine both of those two things. This looks more like a failed driver, which is also common as it is complex circuitry; unlike incandescent, fluorescent, or HID lighting.

      @@ReaperWolf68 if you are unsure, I would have someone look at it; although it is hard to find an electrician which won’t just try to sell you a new panel install because it is “outdated.” You likely have something drawing more current than it is supposed to do, or the fuse is heating up due to a poor connection. When it is working, after a while take out the fuse and feel the metal parts (ON THE FUSE, NOT THE PANEL, THE PANEL IS LIVE) and see if it is hot. If it is, you likely have a bad connection.

      @WalterKnox 29 днів тому

      Yeah, I put oil in the oil ports, and tried to put some on the bearings (this is after, it didn't do too much.) It was almost completely locked beforehand. I am going to have to try to take the motor apart and clean and lubricate the bearings better, but that is for another day when I feel like dealing with rotted out screws that will all likely break or strip out. On another note, this unit has a shaded pole motor, so it doesn't use a capacitor. The fan motor pulls 316 watts (probably a bit less if it is running properly) and the whole unit has an EER of only 5.0. Although I am not an efficiency nut by any means, that is just crazy. Especially since it is a rotary.
