Well, it is 59 years old, and I wasn't lying when I said it was blowing ice cold air out of the vent. It does stop making that sound after about 5 minutes and runs fine. The motor bearings are just shot though. I put oil in the oil ports, but it didn't do too much. I am going to have to try to open the fan motor up and clean and lubricate them better and hopefully that does help.
Yeah, I put oil in the oil ports, and tried to put some on the bearings (this is after, it didn't do too much.) It was almost completely locked beforehand. I am going to have to try to take the motor apart and clean and lubricate the bearings better, but that is for another day when I feel like dealing with rotted out screws that will all likely break or strip out. On another note, this unit has a shaded pole motor, so it doesn't use a capacitor. The fan motor pulls 316 watts (probably a bit less if it is running properly) and the whole unit has an EER of only 5.0. Although I am not an efficiency nut by any means, that is just crazy. Especially since it is a rotary.
I think you're going to have to use your gnalargarlbarger to clinkotwerkulate the crackle master sparkle pony to make working again the air conditioner.

That's still a nice AC, the grill still looks good. The fan bearings are definitely dry or worn if that's what's squealing.
