Two whisky geeks on the quest for the holy grail of drams!
We (Rachel and Jen) review whiskies and other craft drinks a couple of times a week here on UA-cam. We tend to have opposing opinions and we give our true thoughts on what we try and we don't take anything too seriously!
We met while working as tour guides at Deanston Whisky distillery. After working in a few other roles in the industry together we decided to go it alone, together! We opened a wee shop in the small village of Doune and called it The Grail - Monty Python and the Holy Grail was filmed at Doune Castle just round the corner. The holy grail being the cup of eternal life and whisky (uisge beatha) being the "water of life".
We outgrew our little shop and you'll now find us 8 miles along the road in the town of Callander where we run Callander Drinks Company, a whisky and craft spirits shop in the main street.
Subscribe and join us for a laugh and a dram or two! 🥃🥃 Sláinte! #whiskygeeksnotwhiskysnobs

Loch Lomond Single Grain Highland Scotch Whisky
Loch Lomond Single Grain Highland Scotch Whisky
We tried this Loch Lomond a few years ago and loved it for its unusual lightness. Since then it has been a favourite on many of our tastings. It is made with 100% malted barley but because it is column distilled it is a single grain.
Have you tried this dram? What did you think? Let us know in the comments!
We do in person and virtual tastings. Follow the link to book on! We'd Love to see you there!

We Are Back!!!!! This video was filmed before we had both officially left the shop so we are now no longer to be found at at Callander Drinks Company - apart from when we are in there for a visit to shop and chat! We decided to welcome ourselves back to filming with a couple of special samples we had been given and had saved for a special occasion. The first we tried was the 2022 released, Glen...

Glengoyne Distillery Teapot Dram Historic Tour Experience We apologise for the absence but we we are finally back with a visit to one of our local distilleries, Glengoyne, to experience their Teapot Dram Tour. They had this on as an alternative to their usual tour during this summer's silent season. They were having quite a lot of construction work done on their still house and therefore couldn...

Drams in Glasgow We went for a day out in the big city of Glasgow and visited some of the sights as well as a couple of pubs. We had a wee dram in The Pot Still before heading to The Lismore to try some blind drams. Sorry about the picture and sound quality when we are in the pub, it was dark and noisy and we didn't think about this! We have learned and our next videos will be better! We do in ...

We decided to comapare it to other samples of Dailuaine whisky we have been given by various whisky friends. We tried: No 1 - Dailauine 16 Year Old Flora and Fauna Diag...

You can mature like a nice scotch but please never grow up!😂
Cheers Ladies caught that your back on Drinks with David & Vin & heard about your trip to Glengoyne & look forward to hearing how batch #10 Teapot dram turned out this year.😉
I love the 10. Thanks to you i just bought a 10 from the distillery. I had no idea there was still some available. I've had the new 12 and I don't like it very much. It's too sweet. They should have stuck to the same cask maturation as the 10. The extra finishing ruins it for me.
Had the chance to try several beers from Loch Lomond Brewery last year on my West Highland Way hike. They make good stuff.
Need some decent microphones ladies.
Was about 8 years ago now, we were camping on Mull and went for a walk and got soaked. I went to the van to dry off myself and the girls, my wife and friends went to the town to get a few bits, returned 3 hours later after going to the pub and bought me a miniature of 10yo back as an apology! Fell in love from there ❤
Awwww 😍🥃
Is it already Christmas? My two favourites whisky ladies are back in town.😊❤ I have really missed you two. Cheers from Germany
Thank you 😄🥃!!
show sum cleavage ladies
Thank goodness for that. Haven't even watched it!
I'll join the choir in saying that I'm so glad you're both back at it on UA-cam. Loving the Loch Lomond here in Vancouver, Canada. Cheers 🥃
Thank you 😊🥃
I’ve just found your channel, obviously due to your come back. Welcome back btw. The Jameson tour gives you standard, Crested and the Black Barrel. And thanks for identifying the salt in Bunnahabhain. It was such a strong taste to me when I first sipped it, but no one else agreed! 😂 I have no idea how you were making any sense at the end! Very funny. Great video
Thanks so much for tuning in 😊🥃!! Definitely a wee hint of salt in Bunnahabhain and no idea either honestly 🤣!
Can you ladies run down to Campbeltown and grab me a bottle of Springbank please? You can choose what year. Hahaha. Can’t find that anywhere where I live in New York. Seriously though, I do like Loch Lomand when I want a lighter dram. Great vid, good to see you back. Cheers.
Thank you 🥃! Sorry to hear about your Springbank struggles!!
Definitifly must try it
Nice review ladies. Haven’t had a bottle of this for a few years, so must get round to getting another. Loch Lomond are putting out some great whisky. Slainte.
They really are 😋!
Great to have you back girls nice contast to ralfy and roy😅
Thank you 🥃!
Bravo les filles ! The only Loch Lomond that I tested was the Inchmurrin 12 that I love a lot. I will try this because of your enthusiasm !
It's great to see your doggies participating in the reviews. Years ago, I had a Loch Lomond single grain independent bottle that was 22 years old, and it was a lemon sherbet bomb. I used quite a bit of it to make my own blended Scotch's. Each blend was just 250ml, but some of them were just amazing. Phil and Deepa did a blind challenge livestream with them. You were on Roy's livestream with them in May of 2022. Whisky Mystery UA-cam channels Donner Pass Whiskey blind challenge is the name if you have almost an hour to waste 😂. Cheers ladies
We will need to watch this 😂😂!! That Loch Lomond sounds delish and love the home blending!
The closest thing I've had to a single grain whisky is corn whisky, which has a specific legal meaning in the United States - and not all corn whisky is 100% corn. But Abasolo, El Whisky de México, and Balcones Baby Blue are both all corn, and I like them both. All the Scottish whisky I've had is either a blend of barley whisky and grain whisky, or single malt (I swear by Laphroaig 10 🙂). 6:44 I've not found any whisky that I like better with water. Tastes differ, of course, but I don't even try water anymore - I just prefer my whisky straight. 🙂🥃
To each their own! Thanks for tuning in 🥃!
@TheGrailTastings Thanks for coming back. Y'all are the first Scotch channel that's interested me, 'cause y'all are so obviously having a lot of fun instead of just pontificating. 🥃🙂
In Scotland, single malt can only be produced in a pot still - circa 2009
Loch Lomond has really upped their game
Welcome back! 🥃
Thank you 😊🥃
Hello girls if your nor Reading up for this you must be the biggest nerds Said in the best meaning😊👍 but i just found you so im happy that your back😊 Best regards from Denmark Thomas
Thank you 😊🥃 we usually do a wee bit of research first!
It's great to see you two lovely ladies back. I've not tried the LL single grain yet but must give it a go. The best single grain I've had so far was a 40 year old Invergordon. That was absolutely dreamy stuff. If you get a chance to try it, it is well worth it.
Sounds a dream 😍
I haven't seen the LL single grain here in NZ, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. I've had the LL12 and 14 and the Inchmoan 12. Really liked the Inchmoan 12. Cheers!
Inchmoan 12 is tasty, we particularly enjoy the 14 too 😍
I've been really impressed by Loch Lomand's stuff recently, they're doing a great job.
Could you try and review a Cotswold sherry cask. It’s a non chill filtered, natural colour, and bottled at 57.4 % Abv. That could interesting. Kind regards Shane and Carol.
Adding it to our list thank you!
My wife and I popped in back in October, we had a bottle of edradour Ballechin from you. We must be hardened peat hounds because we didn’t think it was heavily peated, although not a bad dram. It was nice to meet you in the shop, and thought Callander was a lovely little town. Hope the new shop goes well for you, all the best from Shane and Carol on the Isle of Wight.
It was great to meet you in the shop - thanks so much for popping!! Hardened peat hounds 🤣🤣 Taste is so interesting!
Great to see you girls back in action.
The only single grain I’ve had experience with was an 11-year-old from Girvin. It was higher proof and reminded me of nail polish. I hope to try this one one day.
Thanks for reviewing, ladies. I've tried both this one and the peated expression. Both decent stuff. For the record, the current regulations are kinda new: 2009. Slàinte mhath
Sorry to be pedantic, but the straight-necked stills at Loch Lomond are NOT Lomond stills, which were invented about 9 years before Loch Lomond Distillery existed and were installed at Inverleven/Dumbarton, Glenburgie and Miltonduff. One of the Inverleven ones is now at Bruichladdich making Botanist Gin under the name Ugly Betty. There is also one (with the neck plates removed) at Scapa, but there is some disagreement as to where it originated (I think it was one of the Glenburgie ones).
Don’t be Sorry just accept it😉👍
Thank you for the correction Andrew!! Appreciate it. . . another case of us thinking that things that sound the same should be the same 🤣🤣 cantaloupe and antelope etc etc
Nice to see you again, ladies!
Enjoying your reviews! Hope more are on the way👍🏼😁oh, I have the CC on, I understand you much better 😂
must try this ;;
Excited and happy you are back.
Oh, ho-hum, look who's back... Oh, who am I kidding? I let out a "Yeeeeeessss!" when I saw you posted again. So good to see you both back on the UA-cams!
So good to be back! Thank you 😊🥃
I was always put off by Loch Lomond. Bought a bottle of the 12 a few years back and it was poor. To be fair though I didn’t stick with it so it may have got better. I had this special run of an 11 cask strength… which was really good but it went and ran out too quickly. Which I blame Loch Lomond for…
I think Loch Lomond have always taken umbridge with people saying that they have Lomond stills (I think they describe them as Coffey stills).
This bottle actually says Coffey still on the label.
You're totally correct on this one thank you for correcting us! Another case of us thinking things that sound the same should be the same 🤣!
A wee mistake on our part apologies. . .you'd think since we had the bottle with us we could have read this 🤣
I have a few Loch Lomonds in my stash for future years as I dont find grain to my taste at this moment in time.
Grail girls or whisky wumin?
Nice to see you back girls. Another fun review. This sounds right up my street.
Recently finished a 14 year old and got the 18 open at the moment.
I like Loch Lomond 12 will have to try this.
Lovely!
Superb girls! Best Regards from Moscow Russia!👍🤝🙏🥂 Just don't think I've forgotten ya!😉
Better be careful, Ukraine is going to be sending over the long range missiles now
Just as the world has not forgotten the atrocities russia (never with capital r anymore) commits against Ukraine. Best regards from Denmark 👍🤝🙏🥂.
@@Erazus4 Tere's an old song performed by "Bad Company" and tere are the following words in in: "I'm just a simple man, workin' with my hands") I'd just change the phrase a wee bit- "Im just a simple man, loving and drinking whisky (-ey)" So Buddy, let's leave that shit to polititiсians to dig out. I'm out of any politics😉☝🥂
I've only had the peated grain, which is excellent!
