FL Flatsmaster
Приєднався 9 лип 2015
My name is Donnie AKA - FL Flatsmaster. I’m a native Floridian that has spent my whole life fishing and enjoying the diverse ecosystems of the Sunshine State. I currently live and fish in the Southwest Florida region around Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Charlotte Harbor. I always enjoy freshwater fishing for largemouth and peacock bass, but inshore wade fishing on the grass flats and any other areas where I can get my feet wet has become my specialty and passion over the past few years. I love to catch big snook, speckled trout and redfish with artificial lures on light tackle. My goal is to continue to grow my channel by producing exciting fishing content along with tips and tricks that will help fellow anglers to keep lines tight.

SNOOK FRENZY! - Wade Fishing Next to a Charter Boat
Your the first guy ive seen using the okumas, Been looking to switch since the stradic ive had got noisy after only 2 weeks. Hows the okuma holding up? The price is really compelling. Mainly do inshore kayak fishing . Any other reccomendations for the 2500-3000 size from $100-$250
@@zacharyurmos1652 they’ve been holding up great. Wade fishing in saltwater constantly with no issues. I’m about to get their new X Series 3000 which I would compare to a stradic. I’ll do a quick review once I get it and use it some
Yessir💪🏽
How did you not hit the beer? Lol
Yummmm ❤
Good shit bro
Very cool man! That looks like some brackish water, or very stirred up shallows. Is that a Zara Spook lure?
@@SeniorGymBro-Tom thanks! Not brackish, just very stirred up shallows. And yes that’s a super spook jr with replacement inline hooks
@@FLFlatsmaster Here in AZ (Lake Pleasant, near Phoenix) I’ve caught Largemouth, Striped Bass, and White Bass on the Super Spook Jr. I’m going to do what you said, and replace the trebles with regular hooks. Thanks Donnie!
Great video! I really enjoy videos with information also. The fishing videos are cool but it’s nice to get information. I’m an avid wade fisherman also I use my kayak to get to spots and wade about 80% of the time. The only thing I’d add to your list is a nice pair of lip grips especially if you have trouble hooks. I clip mine to my waste so they are easily accessible. I sent you a email from the last comment. Hope to hear from you. Keep up the good work!
@@Onemorecast941 thanks man! I always keep the grips on me too, forgot to mention that, thanks for adding that. I just replied to your email, it went to spam so I never saw it come in.

Awesome work Donnie!!
@@Spideyjax0511 thank you!
Great clip. Especially the Simms boots. If I had to choose from only one factor.... it would be the moon phase. Day fishing??? mid moons 50/50. Night fishing?? I like the opposite.... full moons. No moon is bad for both day and night. I'd like to know your experiences with moon phases if you track them, too. I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters.
@@francus7227 I look at moon phases and like to fish a few days before or after a full moon and new moon
On the Mulligan!! Nice work Donnie!!

Great video Donnie. Chonky mangrove. Nothing better than the simplicity of wade fishing with a spoon.

I recall fishing in Michigan decades ago with a very similar Johnson's Silver Minnow or Spoon. Can't quite recall the proper name. Nice video!
@@MartinVSmith6334 oh yea Johnson’s are the originals! Simple, but effective!
How are they as table fare? Enjoyable video BTW!
@@MartinVSmith6334 I have never eaten peacock bass. According to online sources, they are good but not as good as largemouth. Thanks for the support!
I always go to that bait shop
@@CDFootballGaming it’s nice. They’ve got a lot of great tackle and rods too. They carry the Okuma brand that I’m partnered with.
Nice video
Is that a brackish water or freshwater canal? Are there both types in Cape Coral? Asking cuz I saw you catch snook and small tarpon in a canal in another video.
@@SeniorGymBro-Tom this is a freshwater canal, but it eventually leads to a small spillway that spills into saltwater canals. There are both in the Cape
@@FLFlatsmaster Interesting, thanks for the info.👍
Good video! Peacock Bass look interesting. I’ve never fished for em but I’ll be visiting my brother in Ft Myers in December and we’ll do some fishing.👍 Tom (Phoenix, AZ)

Thanks for the video, do you put a swivel for the spoon or no need?
@@JonathanAKuhn Thanks for the comment! I always use a swivel when using spoons. It prevents getting line twists. This Bio-Spoon from FishLab actually comes with a swivel attached already!
They are really nice. I can vouch for the Okuma guy 😊 Glad you came by to check them out.
Wow. It's so different than N.E. Florida.... I NEVER catch fish on a straight fast retrieve. When I think I'm reeling slowly enough, I reel SLOWER. Nice session. I tapped the thumbs up 👍 button to feed the algorithm monsters.
@@francus7227 yea generally over here a fast retrieve will work most of the time. Except for the cold months. Thanks!!
