I grew up in the 50’s and my abiding memories are of being cold and hungry and listening to talk of who was the latest person to emigrate in search of a living. If your life was different then you were one of the lucky ones.

It just brings back memories to me of always being hungry and hearing about the latest person that had to emigrate.

Grew up in Sligo in the late 60s and 70s. I remember frequently hearing of other children's parents dying of cancer and heart attacks. Awful health system.
