Thanks for this great video, I just need to texturize in Substance Painter some instruments for a cockpit in X plane I have only one texture and more objects for example one or two circles and 1 or 2 needles my difficulty is selecting a part of the texture to apply to the single object, could you mention your workflow if you can, thanks in any case.
I’ll be making a video about this
@@AviationMaster Thanks I will wait anxiously, I have some textures made with skinman if you want I can post them on my channel.
Yeah 747 -800
Thank you! What version of blender are you using?
3.6.8
Awesome video as always! Question. My models keep exporting with weird distortions when plugged into xplane, although all the UVs and textures and everything are all perfect in blender. Is it because I'm not confirming them in world editor or plane maker first, and exporting from there?
Did you link the textures properly on scene properties before exporting from blender? If your blender project file isn’t in the same directory as your textures before you export, try moving or copying the texture files to the same location as the blend file, relink the textures and reexport. Otherwise make sure you’re on the correct UV map, sometimes there’s multiple
@@AviationMaster I did yeah. It's a traffic cone, so I linked the Cone.png textures perfectly. I even omitted the "//:/:..." before the Cone.png that xplane2blender usually assigns when you link a texture. So the obj and png files are linked and in the same location, and the obj text accurately reads TEXTURE Cone.png.
I bought this E195 just recently. You showed that it is possible to enter an airway into the FMS. And you showed the button for the take off configuration check. Now I am going to try to make my first flight. I had some problems the autopilot not doing what I wanted it to do. :) Btw at the end on the approach plate you could see on the vertical part that you have to intercept the localizer at 4000 ft. You descended to 3000 ft, that is why it took al little bit longer for the gp interception. Nice landing anyway! And cool Munich scenery indeed.
I forgot to mention that no manual for the FMS comes with the FPS E195. Only a manual explaining the buttons and a checklist and instalationl manual.
Hello, I need help with my scenery object being too shiny. How do I reach out to you to discuss about it?

Hey, can you do a tutorial on transparent windows?

Amazing tutorial. I´ve seen it many many times. This is the most complicated I guess. Is there any chance to make a tutorial about texturing with glasses and another with curves? Thanks a lot.
Thank you for doing this. I've wanted to learn this exact thing for a while. Once you started doing shortcuts it was a little confusing but I've noticed that everyone uses shortcuts for this app.
Hi! One question, substance will export one texture for each material but blender takes only one. How do you export them all into one??
If you have multiple objects unwrap them all into one UV map (select all the objects you want and press tab to go into edit mode for that) and you’ll use the same material for those that are in the UV map. In substance that’ll be one texture set. For every material in blender there’s a texture set in substance. You can have multiple materials and multiple texture sets but note that each texture set is 1 texture sheet.
Any idea when I compile this in MSFS2020 that it loses the inversion, so the bottom part opens up with the top part making one large upper panel animation?
I was planning on covering this in the exporting tutorial. However, this does happen in xplane as well because the bottom door hasn’t been keyed yet. Try going to frame 0 and apply visual transform to the bottom door object and then add a keyframe on all channels, then do the same thing again on the last frame and afterwards you can get rid of the constraint and maybe even the parent, I’ll have to check what I had set up on mine
@digitalme4404 are you sure you’re applying visual transform on the first and last frame? Or is it all transforms?
@@AviationMaster I'm pretty sure I was using the wrong blender version for the gltf addon. Has to be 3.x.x
@digitalme4404 happens lol
Just a tip, don´t go so fast while doing things, you´re not playing a FPS game (pun Intended). Safe flights!
It´s even better now since the last update, well worth another look. Thanks for the vid!
Dataref and lua script to trigger the animation?
I’ll be making a tutorial shortly on how to do this with our plugin, but in the meantime you can try reading the SAM (scenery animation manager) documentation to see if they already have datarefs for their plugin; I know they have a similar SDK for this purpose.
@@AviationMasterok. Is that SAM feature free? Why use SAM over fly with lua?
@CTde110 SAM is free to use. As far as I’m concerned there is no plugin that allows this with lua, and even if there was I’d suspect it would be much slower
Ooooh, good one. Been wanting to learn animations. Will watch this later!
There is one last thing I forgot to mention. Make sure the interpolation of this animation is linear. To do this just hover over your timeline (where the keyframes are) press "a", then "t" and then "linear" under the interpolation tab.
Im working on lighthouses right now, so this tutorial is perfect for me. Thanks!
No is DC-8
Amazing again. Lets try your way.
I want to get this plane after watching this reveiw, do you use active sky with your sim I got it the other day and it's amazing.
I don’t use Active Sky, or any other weather addons for my xplane. I typically just crank up the default settings to high, I never go max on any
Thanks for this amazing tutorial! It really rear to find a good channels on UA-cam with such helpful tutorials. I have some questions, I want to make a high quality terminal with glass and interior, and I'm kinda struggling with the night time textures setup, especially with glass, i know you have set the texture to alpha blend and also reduce the alpha, but what about baking? Does the glass objects actually need to have baked LIT materials? (I'm not planning to do dirt reflections or something..) or should i just leave the glass materials alone while baking night interior textures? And lastly should glass have the normal metalness checkbox checked? Thanks
I think if you have interiors and the glass is transparent you shouldn’t bake lights on the windows but rather on the interior so that the light comes from the inside and doesn’t randomly emit from the windows. If your windows have a normal map check normal metalness, otherwise I personally wouldn’t but I think you should try and check it see if it gives any effect you want.
@@AviationMaster thank you so much, this was really helpful
Best Blender-XPlane tutorial ever
Plenty of opportunities to tile with that terminal. Subscribed...
Living up to the name. This is actually incredible modelling.
Thanks for the video!

Great video! Newbie question: What are the main advantages of separating the different parts for the Airport (Bridge, rails, Windows etc.) other than making the whole project organisation nice and tidy? I'm currently building my first scenery ever so I'm looking for everything that can help improve the quality of the project.
It’s mostly due to the quality of the textures. The process is called tiling. I will be streaming this process more often and explaining it as I texture the rest of the terminal
@@AviationMaster Thanks! Looking forward seeing the process.
For someone who has just started making sceneries, this tutorial series looks like everything I need to know. Adding textures to a scenery in Blender kinda give me anxiety, but it looks so much easier in Substance Painter. Thanks for a great video! 👍
How I creat light window? Like emissive light from the windows?
You have to assign a material to that window that has emission turned all the way up or to whatever setting you want and from there you can also change the color of the emission. You can delete this material after texture baking as it will no longer be needed.
@@AviationMaster I get it, thanks for the answer!! But I have a problem. At blender live render the surface that is emiting light is ok (show up emiting). But this surface texture (that is emitting light), after baking go all black, just the surfaces around goes illuminated. How I get the surface emission not goes black after bake? (I choose white color to emission). Thanks again!!
@@Marciodjr100 sorry I forgot to mention, if you’re baking with diffuse make sure you check the direct and indirect lighting checkboxes on the bake tab. I haven’t tried that yet for emissive materials but I assume it should work, if that doesn’t work try changing the bake type to emission.
@@AviationMaster Alright here!! It worked, but I Bake with combined mode. So I got spots of lights and emissive texture. It's perfect now! It's like a real build at night Thank you so much!!!
These videos have been brilliant, thank you so much....sub’d :)
Too complex for me. I'm looking for a basic tutorial i.e. how to put a texture on a cube and export it
Hello I like your video on FPS 195, I have downloaded that plane and I have a problem with it keep showing me no Nav database, and keep give me this message even after I downloaded the Nav database, do you know how to creat nav database for this plane? I will really appreciate your help on this.
I think there’s a pdf in the installation files that provides detailed instructions on how to do that, correct me if I’m wrong though
How do you get the CDU to pop out?
Did you try clicking on the FMS screen?
Thanks, nice review.
Hey aviation master? What scenery have you got installed there?
I have AWDesigns’ Princess of the Caribbean TFFJ/TNCS package. It hasn’t been updated for 12 officially but it works perfectly fine, and I highly recommend it. store.x-plane.org/TFFJ--Princess-of-the-Caribbean--Part-2-Saba-St-Barts_p_983.html
hey aviationmaster, i have bought it before, and i have problems with the shorline. Do you know what is the problem? thank you for your time.@@AviationMaster
@@stellarthings3435 I don’t think so - you could try reinstalling it and making sure the mesh is also in the custom scenery folder with the airport
Hi! Is it possible to make the fan rotate depending on the speed and direction of the wind?
Hey, you’d need to look up a different dataref for that, siminnovations has a quite few you can look at for wind: www.siminnovations.com/xplane/dataref/?name=wind&type=&writable=&units=&description=&submit=Search
Speaking as a pro trainer myelf in the defence aero industry, may I congratulate you on these superb tutorials. Really helpful. I expect it's true for many other XP modellers, I started with SketchUp 15 months ago and can model and texture to a reasonable standard. This is what I created over the last 12 months on SU. ua-cam.com/video/NPNqopPrse0/v-deo.htmlsi=AkpJvWYtJsgYPjBO I also kicked off a chat in the XP Forum on the possibiity of setting up an XP Dev 'Academy', inspired actually by your videos. It received many views and replies, so there's certainly a demand. Unfortunately, I was then 'muzzled' by the moderators for no logical reason, so can't continue that project. Still don't understand why. Maybe some feel thier interests were threatened. I'm now trying to make the jump to Blender and can do the basics - say build a simple shed. The major barrier for me is the whole texturing and exporting issue, just can't get it to work. Several possibilities: - I'm using the latest version of Blender (should we use an older version?) - I installed the XP2Blender addon, but can't get it to work. I like the idea of modelling a new airport, but could you cover the basics of exporting, which versions of software you use? Also, could you show how to create and apply the texture using Blender only, as many like myself can't bear the expense of 3rd party texturing apps. These 'baby steps' would be really useful, and I'm sure would grow your channel.
I’ll look into those ideas, thank you for your suggestions!
Would you guys like to see a longer series on the modeling of a small airport terminal? If so, I'd appreciate if you left a suggestion for a specific terminal you'd like me to cover
Airport terminal sounds great! The terminal is up to you of course, but if it would have some curved features like the roof it would be great
In addition to what stellar said, could you add another way to put in lights whenever we're using repeating textures or lights on roofs that don't light up any walls and only light the ground? I've been reading something on light_param but I dont know if it's the right thing and/or can't wrap my mind around it
Yes! I would love seeing that, being someone who just started out making sceneries myself!
Seems to this old man that one of the major differences between FPS/X-Crafts is very similar to SSG/X-Crafts in XP11 and before. I rarely am a systems person, but I do like to support developers that I like, and I do like both of these without disparaging either one but acknowledge what others may like. I wouldn't necessarily claim "don't buy this" without adding "if you want or prefer..." to qualify it. Thank you for this video!
Great series! Are you going to make more scenery modelling tutorials? like terminals etc? keep it up
Planning on making either a small tower or terminal for the next one
@@AviationMaster great news! Looking forward to the next episode, ive already started a project, cant wait for the tutorials
I appreciate the thorough review. Your video was instrumental in my decision to buy this bird. I'll also note that the cabin and modelling details are a great improvement over those of the rather awful SSG rendition though the X-Crafts version's sounds and texturing are still top notch and completely out of this one's league. However, the FPS version far exceeds the X Crafts' in systems depth, as you noted. For me, that goes a very long way in mitigating its shortcomings. I'm glad I purchased it.

This stream was for webcam testing. On playback I'm noticing there's delays between my voice and the webcam on the ground, but during cruise and landing my webcam gets back on track.
Thank you so much!!This is what I was looking for a long time...thanks for your tutorials!!...I have a question for you...what to do to eliminate the shiny effect on rounded shaped materials??I created a bump nearby to my hangar...but it's too shiny!!
Roughness is the slider I’d mess with which affects the diffuse effect of the glossiness. If you’re looking for something more dedicated like actual corrugation or bricks or something like that I’d browse the existing library of materials / smart materials in substance painter or I’d also look in substance source which I referred to in the video.
Thank you so much for these videos! I wouldn't have been able to make my last two sceneries without your tutorials, and I can't wait to add PBR to my next project!
Again, really helpful thank you. The reason for my interest here is I've been using SketchUp for the last year. I created 33EFTS Caron for the Forum, but fancied moving up to something with more realism. I started a chat on the XP Forum / XP12 / Scenery, if this is of any interest.
