I'm looking at one of these and saw the discussion about fov. Can that not be adjusted in dcs with fov slider / zoom controls? I don't fully understand how VR works with a pc

I ordered Crystal Light. I am fairly new to driving sims and I just have a Quest 3 and can't stand the muddiness of it anymore. I looked at Bigscreen Beyond, but the FOV is what pushed me away from that. I have a liquid cooled 3090 so I'm pretty sure I should be good for a while. Anyway, what you said is always true - it is simply a matter of when to pull the trigger and jump in. There will always be something better or improvements on the existing devise on the horizon. I always liked to be on the bleeding edge of computer tech in years past, but with the prices now, I can't do it. I now skip every other generation of graphics card (at least... we'll see) and wait until something significant happens in the CPU/Memory market that makes an actual difference. With $2000 graphics cards, I just can't justify buying a new one every time they drop. At some point you have to accept that you have the best NOW - but there will always be better "next year".

I'm moving up to the Crystal Light from my Valve Index. I paid £459 for the Index (headset only) in 2019. Crystal Light with Lighthouse plate for £908 delivered is good value in my eyes. 3x no. of rendered pixels (16million vs 4.7million), QLED with local dimming, better comfort. I can't really complain about the price point, especially since the pandemic prices across the board for everything have been inflated by 20%-30%.

If you're going to talk about price then you should mention the £150 extra that you have to pay in tax when you buy it.

What are your pc specs? Secondly what do you have your bsb settings at? I just seem to have such a hard time getting a clear picture. i9900k@5G 3080ti overclocked

I am soo on the fence right now. I am a DCS player and have been using the Reverb G2 for a couple years now. The size and weight is hard to beat of the bigscreen beyond.

I heard there is a ton of glare with this headset. Especially when in sim at night. What's your opinion?

I have the crystal, as sole flight simmer the battery thing is a PITA. . . and the way you have to power it up is a PITA . . . and now it seem that the batterys are only lasting an hour or so and the thing is only a couple of months old. The light with itracking as a PC V stand alone is th holy grail. Especially now that the HP reverb is no longer going to be supported by windows. (I'll probably still buy one...)

Surprised to see some of the comments regarding Crystal Light, do people really feel it's not worth it without eye tracking?

I gave up on my micro oled dreams. The beyond has lots of people having issues with receiving the wrong IPD and also having problems with their face gasket. It has been taking bigscreen 4-6 weeks to swap out for new IPD and for new face gasket. So order it and wait 6 months to get an actual decent experience and the audio strap isn't even released yet. Plus the lenses have tons of glare and tiny sweet spot.

I'd like to see Bigscreen do what Pimax has done with the high speed wireless transmitter.

QLED will be better with Pancake lenses which absorb too much light. Therefore Beyond and QPro are not bright enough. Also Micro Oleds have a size limitation for now so that's why younhave so small FOV on Beyond.

The OG crystal is wireless now when the WiGig comes out.. its the only true PCVR wireless headset then. As it can do the full 8.4MP at 90hz... the wireless wont work on any other of their headsets as it needs the XR2. And as it has eye tracking, so it still has clear value. The wireless system uses eye tracking, so you get low compression quality image and higher compression on the areas where you are not looking at.

Bigscreen and VR1 also do not come with controllers or trackers, so you need to buy all that separately, their real price is much higher.

It’s good to see ‘untainted’ vr headset impressions. It would be great if you could borrow a couple other headsets though just to get an impression of those. On one hand that’d make you just like the other vr headset reviewers, but bc you’re so fresh to vr in general and not jaded by it all I think you might be able to offer some better insights on any real downfalls of the BSB from a ‘normal’ user perspective.

Sorry to the dude who posted a comment and I accidentally deleted regarding the apple vision head band. Completely agree, would be great if we could get a strap like that for BSB!

The main problem with the BSB is that, exactly 6 months after my order, mine still hasn't arrived... ☹

A month later with BigScreen. Still happy and can't see how it could be beat at this price point.

The face cushion makes a HUGE!!! difference in the comfort and the visuals and their ipd measuring software was defective at one point well, my point is, stop minimizing the efforts expense it would take people to get a doctors appt. I didn't use their ipd software because it was off by 3mm compared to my other hmds i use

How do you find the BSB compared to the quest 3? or 2, or vive for that matter haha.

What headphones are those? And how is the heat? With it being so form fitting, does it feel breathable or like all the heat is being trapped?

I found the vertical FOV on the BSB to be lacking for dogfighting. In the Apache, you can even see the whole heading tape in the IHADSS

great video hes actually got a pair of 20mm m39 cannons..only the soviets got them epic 30mm (your thinking flanker cannons!) bomber intercept by far my favorite mission to do all my testing and flying on. ive got my reverb g2 for now..

I have a Quest 3, and I don't think I could ever go back to playing sims on a flat-screen. There's still some headache involved in getting everything to run smoothly every time, but the payoff is worth it.

Awesome vid! I have a BS Beyond on order, will be my first VR headset as well. Still need to buy the base stations, and figure out where to mount them in my sim pit, but looking forward to learning a whole new way to flight sim.
