I think one of the greatest misconceptions about gatekeeping is that it's about keeping out people which it is not. Gatekeeping is about keeping out ideas that do not function in the fandom without corrupting it. No one would tell a gay guyHe can't write spider man or like spider man. I hate what youtube has become. Everything is slop. It's all fake and gay, I can't stand listening to youtuber telling me about their sponsors anymore, or just being there to repeat the same shit that has been said 10 thousands times, just to confirm people's bias. That's why I started "creating content"; I wasn't seeing the content I wanted to see so I decided to make it myself. I kind of hate "being a youtuber" though. I have a small and dedicated audience which are cool, but, once in a while, I have a video breaking out of my regulars and then I got a bunch of comments from people who don't get it, and it's hell. Is it just me or is his whole argument able to be boiled down to "We don't have a perfect solution so why bother with anything?" By that logic, we should stop making AIDS and HIV medication since we can't cure it. Hollywood gatekept 99.99% of conservatives out of the industry entirely and we have approximately zero movies from the perspective of conservatives, and the few that we do have are review bombed by "professional" reviewers because they've also gatekept 99.99% of conservatives out of their industry. You're right that we can't keep people out of IPs because we don't own them. Making these industries implode is only step one. Step two is getting power in said industries, building it back up, and using our power to gatekeep woke weirdos out.

For without that attention there is nothing value. 2. Humans love attention some love it more than anything including the popular thing, but they see the attention thus they have to bully their way in because they want the attention 3. If bullying is the main concern then recognize that there are in fact bullies outside the gate that want into gate. Especially when it comes to music genres (specifically meta in all its forms), being a musician, and video games. That’s for me personally. I support you gatekeeping whatever you like lol. Dragon Age in name only Failguard is a perfect example of what happens when a company allows mentally unwell activists to take managerial control over a project for a franchise they only care about as far as how they can use it as a platform to preach their world view on to others, signalling their perceived virtue... When I saw the first trailer for Failguard, which looked and sounded like an Overwatch style hero shooter, instead of the grim dark tactical rpg game I loved, warning bells starting ringing... I then read the interview Corrine Busch did with one of those hack gaming journo outlets & then immediately knew Failguard was not going to be a Dragon Age game and would end up a woke, cancerous disaster. The game comes out, I watch a 10 hours livestream over 3 days and also watched reviews from Mortismal Gaming, Luke Stephens, MrMattyPlays, SkillUp & Angry Joe to determine if this was a game to be excited for and if it was worth my time and money. It proved to be an awful game, so bad it has all but killed the Dragon Age franchise! it failed so badly the director was forced to resign, the entire writing staff and many others at Bioware were fired and the studio office where it was made is being closed. Sorry, but what did they expect was going to happen? They wasted 10 years of development, they wasted hundreds of millions of EA's investment money. Failure should always be punished. the staff at Bioware are getting what they deserve. So again, gatekeeping is simple. If someone loves a franchise like Star Wars for example, because Star Wars is cool (it is) then they are welcome and I love to share in their enjoyment of a common interest. Going to have to respectfully disagree. Culture belongs to the fandom because we pay money to receive product and when the system is working properly, we work in synergy with the studios. If we don’t pay, it doesn’t work. If they hate us, it doesn’t work. If we hate them, it doesn’t work. These things are ours just as much as the studios’ because we all need to take part.
