When it comes to review codes I see 4 types: 1. People that get a free code and review regardless of the price, or buy a copy to give away to balance the proverbial scale. 2. Reviewers that get the codes and wants to keep getting free codes. They may not like the game, but they'll pull their punches and be more gentle with their negative findings. 3. Reviewers who mentions they didn't get a code so you know that they also feel the pain of a full priced game and will include the cost and value into their review. 4. Reviewers who don't get codes, but make sure the publisher knows because they're some of the biggest shills and are DESPERATE to get in their good graces, hoping to get free and exclusive memorabilia so they can flex how big of fans they are to a publisher.
I haven't trusted any of the review copy receiving content creators reviews since I preordered Dragon Age 2 and hated the game. Coincidentally the last game I ever preordered. I think Totalbiscuit was the last reviewer I had complete trust in.

After previously giving it a positive review. See, my message was to be careful who to trust and SkillUp proved to be an outlier worth trust. This is a great thing.
I'd recommend Skill Up's review. Its mostly critical but seems fair and is about as a-political as you can get, with a primary focus on the gameplay and storytelling.

Advertising for a car, if you can't drive or a Rolex that you can't afford may not work but ads for things you do buy or are interested in work subconsciously, that's how they are designed.
This "scandal" is very tame by industry standards. Compared to past fixes were reviews were deleted or scores frozen a limited number of review copies being given out is nothing new. @@JustaGuy_Gaming Yeah, the Shadow of War stuff was really weird... I don't know wtf was going on with WB games at that time. The fact they folded so quickly too the moment they received an ounce of pushback with the in-game micro stransactions, made the whole thing quite odd indeed. I can only assume it was mandated by some big money suit who knew absolutely nothing about games, and he had dozens of people telling him it won't be pretty. IIRC the severe backlash EA was facing with their in-game gambling mechanics fanned the flames of the situation too.
I finally opened my eyes with Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020, that there were a good chunk of youtubers and reviewers I trusted who straight out lied or dismissed the disastrous state the game was at launch. Yes, I played it anyway, I had my moments of fun, but it was nowhere near what they claimed it to be. Plenty of them called it "The game of the decade", if not even higher statements. Nowadays, when I hear "yes, there's some problems here and there, but *I'm sure day one patch will solve everything!"* I immediately understand it's very much likely the game is a buggy mess and no day one patch will solve a thing. See you 3-6 months from now. Maybe.

Is more dangerous than that for those influencers, since, if the game is SO horrendous as everyone is saying, and they are saying is good, NOBODY will believe in them anymore, even the normies, and the companies won't care about them too, because they lost they credibility and power!
The worst part about being a long time fan of any of these properties is watching these "devs" wave around the empty corpse of what was once great. Now they can't be bothered to actually finish a game, just pay off the journalists and"influencers."

Fire Emblem Three Houses is an amazing game, happy you enjoyed it. I recommend you to also play the 3DS titles they are pretty good or if you want there are also many other great tactical RPG's like FF Tactics, Tactics Ogre Reborn, Dark Deity, Tears to Tiara 2, Triangle Strategy, Disagea, Othercide...
all of them have different game play, you may like one and dislike the others. for example, fire emblem is a collection of all the mechanism i hate. i hate the durability, shop, rng stat up upon lv up, class restriction etc. i dislike ff tactics story. I am a big fan of tactics ogre luct but i think reborn destroyed it, the card collecting is as tedious as judge system in ffta, which is a deal breaker for me. disgaea, i like it, the only thing is the story is too childish and it takes like 100 hours to build up your character.
@Levariatine Yeah fair enough, every game has a different take on the tactical genre but I would still personally recommend all of them they are all great in my opinion. I wrote Ogre Reborn because is the more accessible version but I agree that the original is slightly better. Another game I forgot to add in this list I personally enjoyed and many people disliked was MONARK, really great game.
If you were in government and a cigarette company took you to the NFL and just hung out with you, you'd be compromised. They wouldn't need to necessarily ask anything from you EVER. A company giving you early access or taking you on holiday wins favor. If you wanted to literally seduce someone, you give them stuff and show them a good time. The only difference in that relationship is which party is giving which early access.

Origins was peak. DA2 wasn't great but did have some great art direction in a few cases such as the Qunari and Kirkwall's concept art but mostly a heavy downgrade. Inquisition was a step forward in gameplay from DA2 but still nowhere near Origins in quality of gameplay, also the push for unattractive females and gender politics in Bull's sidequest detracted more from it. Veilguard isn't even Dragon Age at this point. It's so disconnected from its roots that if you showed gameplay of Veilguard without giving its title to a fan of the series with no knowledge of it, they'd be in disbelief that they are connected. It's a travesty.
You know, I just finished Wukong and it is one of the best games I ever played. It gets physical edition next year and I will get it for ps5, because I want to own it so I'd rather buy it twice than get new Dragon Age or any other slop game released this year. Why trust any review how about go play yourself and decide on your own!! All the "users" are ignorant from what I seen trying to be first to get there negative hate review out there first to get the clicks. AKA they have a motive to be negative. There NO different.
Its not that its leftist in nature Its that its written terribly Oliver Stone is very left leaning But the dude is a phenomenal writer and film maker Clearly: its not the politics that are an issue
This game will be a tough one. I'll preface this by saying I've never played the series and what I saw from the trailers and presentations of Veilguard, it ain't my cup of tea, even if I like RPGs normally. However, given how much representation it seems to "shove down your throat" (trying to skew you towards a non-straight male path during dialogue choices, from screenshots- though that's to take with a grain of salt,- and restricting how many paths are available if you dare keep on treading that one), it'll be tough to trust even reviews of users because many won't be objective. Sadly, DEI and similar topics have become too prominent in an extreme form (meaning: what most companies are doing is not DEI, but, rather, acting like extremists who won't go for equity and represent minorities AND majorities, instead they only represent the minorities while spitting in the face of majorities), so I understand many are frustrated, even more so when companies focus on that too much and forget that a game isn't only about a message and representation, but also having a cool, good story, nice character, and having fun through an enjoyable gameplay loop... but there's definitely too many who are too critical. I.e, nowadays many will call a game woke just because there's a female character, which is excessive. It's tough times to trust the judgement of others... I really hope game demos will become more widespread again so we can go back to how it was before: try something out for ourselves and see if it's our things or not, so we don't need to rely on anyone else's tastes and ideas.
I really think they ignored the price just for the label. No matter the quality, nothing on this planet is worth $15,000 a bag. But I spent 200 on a super treasure from kislux and I no longer blame people who buy fakes.
Integrity? Does NOT exist in the gaming world. In fact it doesn't exist anywhere. It is all about power and money. Veilguard was designed for the "kids" who don't know any better. If all the kiddies buy Veilguard, then EA gets the money and Bioware will have its power.
I used to trust reviews that only came out after the game was released, but now it seems as if some after release reviews are heavily biased and salty because they didn't receive review copies to begin with, personally i want to build my brand by rejecting any future review copy that comes my way, excluding indie games because they need the help and support

@@gangsterHOTLINE idk game seems fucking infantile and nearly insulting in how shallow and brain dead it is
a good saying i heard was love how ppl can see the plot holes in every movie but cant see the holes in the mainstream narratives..
The number of channels that fell from grace after hitting a million subs is crazy. They get big and then sell out hard.
I love the bit when Chewbacca is working alongside the wizard and nodding to him 😂❤
It's Dragon Age for people who don't like Dragon Age.
You said it 👏
When it comes to review codes I see 4 types:
I made the mistake to preorder ME3 after DA2 scandal, never again
I miss him; I think he would have been very sad to see the state of things now.
It is important to extend this awareness and animosity towards certain youtube channels that are openly shilling for EA and Bioware with this game. Strongly urge people to unsubscribe and call out crrtain channels that have been lying about not receiving early copies or compensation from Bioware despite evidence to the contrary being easily located (Mortismal is one of these shills)
This game was a litmus test for reviewer integrity for all creators not just the big corrupt ones like IGN
There's Star Wars Outlaws and Dragon Age, but then there's Space Marine 2 and Metaphor Refantazio. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
Add Unicorn Overlord to the list.
It's still my personal game of the year.
I'm kind of a newer subscriber here, but after having watched your videos recent couple of weeks, I'm so impressed with your very solid arguments and covering of various problems the entertainment world has MR. Wizard. 9/10 times it feels like it is things I myself have said or pondered about and that makes it so much more interesting!
Your channel is CRIMINALLY low on deserved amount of subscribers and views, while I see pure trash content creators attract a lot of them (?)
Keep it up Mr. Wizard 💪 - And as you wisely say; "Cancel your Disney+ subscription ;-) "
(I personally have never paid for that ever).
In general, review embargoes are a red flag. I rarely buy a game day one and wait for lots of gameplay and reviewers I trust.
Yeah I noticed Veilguard was 3rd on steam sales yesterday. The shilling is absolutely out of control. It must be due to brand recognition, as game journalist reviews do not influence sales anymore and we have proof. If this game is really as bad as it looks to be, I'm interested to see how many refunds are going to be claimed.
The truth will always come out.
Maybe these content creators today, raised on Cal-Arts cartoons and Minecraft, have low expectations for games.
Selective paid reviews should be a red flag that the game probably not good.
Skillup got a review copy and he tore this game to shreds
After previously giving it a positive review.
See, my message was to be careful who to trust and SkillUp proved to be an outlier worth trust. This is a great thing.
I'd recommend Skill Up's review. Its mostly critical but seems fair and is about as a-political as you can get, with a primary focus on the gameplay and storytelling.

I’m a lib. I can say I share your strong dislike for politics in gaming. Games are art, not a propaganda canvass.
Same here. I consider myself centre left, and I despise having extreme left politics shoved in my face in the hobby I turn to for escapism. This is not ok, and they don't get to claim I'm a bigot for objecting. That's not the instant win they think it is. That's not how reality works. People are tired of it.
I heard somebody say the best way to tell a story is through video games and it’s always been something I remembered
@@drrisen-9442 Fellow lib here and I agree. What's most worrying about DEI consulting is devs are letting people who don't give a fuck about video games tell them how to do their jobs. That's a recipe for disaster, no matter what political angle it's coming from.
I’m on the right and there’s not a lot we can agree on but this is one. I don’t want ANY politics in games, left or right! I get enough of it from every other place I look. I want just one place free of it!! So from a conservative I say I respect you both for your stance on this and thank you.
There's a huge gap between being liberal and a far-left extremist. Meanwhile, far-left extremists and far-right extremists are virtually identical. They have more in common than they'd like to admit.
Criminally underrated channel. I engage, therefore I am.
Bioware is cashing out all their good will
Great video. You do good work and this is why we don't take any early access review copies from publishers. That and we have like 5 subs.
Gamers need to blacklist these influencers.
I’m not a doomer but I really wish the gaming industry to have another colapse so this bad practices could at least become less frequent
the mere sight of the fuglified DEI characters is enough reason for me to not buy the game. Wallet is closed.
Got it so you’re an incel
Got it so you’re an incel. Anytime I see you idiots spam “DEI” or “agenduhhhh” you usually just got done with a reddit circle jerk and complaining about your virginity
This game is so bad that the director of the next Mass Effect game is already trying to distance himself from it.
Though he says his Mass Effect will be "photorealistic" which I already hate the sound of, but we'll see how it turns out.
Great video. I am a new fan of your channel and I love your vibe. Also, I can't tell the difference between the two Bottega bags, the kislux is close and cute, so that's enough for me. I will bring my friends to buy.

"Advertisements don't work on me, and they shouldn't work on you!"
- DJ George
That's a dumb take though, advertising works on everyone. People who claim advertising doesn't work dont understand it is designed by the best psychologists in the world.
Advertising for a car, if you can't drive or a Rolex that you can't afford may not work but ads for things you do buy or are interested in work subconsciously, that's how they are designed.
9/10 just solidifies IGN shilling
This "scandal" is very tame by industry standards. Compared to past fixes were reviews were deleted or scores frozen a limited number of review copies being given out is nothing new. Heck that Shadow of Mordor sequel forced contracts to the effect they couldn't show any bugs and hand fed them lines to say if I remember the scandal right.
That game was wild with its controversies.
@@RealLifeFakeWizard The weirdest part was it was a good enough game. Yet they felt the need to use those heavy handed tactics to stop bad reviews, like they had no faith in their game.
Wizardy bloke FTW!
Maybe.
DragQueen Age ApacheHelicopterGunshipGuard is literally the bottom of the barrel of gaming !
That 2 minute cutscene explaining pronouns, misgendering and performing 10 pushups as penitence was an ABOMINATION !
That was nothing but indoctrination !
This whole game is clearly aimed towards children from the Pixar/Fortnite art style to the infantile interactions and dialogue to the woke shallow writing,
All in order to brainwash and groom the next generation with toxic identity politics and woke propaganda.
My alienation and resentment towards the Alphabet Mafia is at an all time high !

I can still remember a time in life is strange when the kissing option in the game was crass out and maker of the kisson thing was a bad joke as they didn't know what other options to put in
The fact that I recognized the cover of The Inheritors of Arcadia in the background is fucking wild
Soooo, it's not actually. But it's awfully close. I'm using the FE 3H soundtrack, not SoV. I'd still call it a win guess
I’m not even going to lie, it’s going to be sad saying goodbye to BioWare. they gave me one of my favorite series of all time and it’s a shame this is what the studio has turned to, a bunch of woke garbage
Respect is free. Trust is earned and more easily lost. The lesson to be learned? be honest like the wizard here
It's interesting to hear that a non-anime fan could enjoy a game with anime aesthetics/storytelling.
no wonder the veil is being destroyed
In this case its mainly about their ideology. To criticise this would be to criticise their own identity as the game is super woke and so are they
Is more dangerous than that for those influencers, since, if the game is SO horrendous as everyone is saying, and they are saying is good, NOBODY will believe in them anymore, even the normies, and the companies won't care about them too, because they lost they credibility and power!
The worst part about being a long time fan of any of these properties is watching these "devs" wave around the empty corpse of what was once great. Now they can't be bothered to actually finish a game, just pay off the journalists and"influencers."
And let's not forget everyone starting to use UE5. I'm sure overlapping assets and the exact same look to every game won't cause the market to become stale and boring.
Variety is the spice of life.
Jeff Gerstmanns review of Kane and Lynch says hi.
The reviews being bought and paid for isn't what bothers me the most, it's the fact they thought we're stupid and wouldn't notice.
Yesterday the reviews sat at mixed with close to even of positive and negative. Today it sits at mostly positive with 800 negative reviews and over 3,000 positive out of nowhere.
Senpai, teach me the art of buying reviews. Make a step by step plan for us newbs😂🎉
Step 1: have a lot of money
Step 2: adhere to the religion of the fetish cult
Step 3: find people who either are in or fear the wrath of said fetish cult
Step 4: give them a review copy
@guillermoelnino Thank you for ur Sage wisdom
That was an excellent video Grand Elf
Thank you!
It’s just a weeb game that’s it
If you were in government and a cigarette company took you to the NFL and just hung out with you, you'd be compromised. They wouldn't need to necessarily ask anything from you EVER. A company giving you early access or taking you on holiday wins favor. If you wanted to literally seduce someone, you give them stuff and show them a good time. The only difference in that relationship is which party is giving which early access.
Happy console gamer, what a name drop, haven't watch him for a long time
He got me into the dragon quest games back in 2012ish before i started to take a step back from playing video games
It has reviews from some sources that are trusted... I'm not sure why people who claim to be gamers try so aggressively to tear down a game
subbed, thought i was crazy hearing FE music then the FE part came up lol
Hell yeah!!
Every time I hear Garrag Mach Monastery music I think to myself "where the heck do I know this song from" lol
I would love to see this guy make a video about something he likes
it started with Inquisition honestly
That game bore me to f*cking death man. Characters were as deep as a cumstain
6:19 is a perfect still encompassing this game's lack of appeal.
Man even Japanese Isekai Anime has better writing than this garbage Bioware developed.
You know, I just finished Wukong and it is one of the best games I ever played. It gets physical edition next year and I will get it for ps5, because I want to own it so I'd rather buy it twice than get new Dragon Age or any other slop game released this year. I want Game Science release more games in the West and I' rather support them.
Gamers are smart enough to distinguish between the paid game journalists reviews and the honest gamers reviews!
Especially the modern audience to promote the some stupid top scars 💩 and some idiots to propagate the some stupid pronoun !
Ive never trusted game reviews from the "press" even back in the days of nintendo power
Why trust any review how about go play yourself and decide on your own!! All the "users" are ignorant from what I seen trying to be first to get there negative hate review out there first to get the clicks. AKA they have a motive to be negative. There NO different.
As someone who enjoyed the original Dragon Age, and Inquisition, I can assure you I will not be purchasing this filth. I am non-buy-nary.
Agree 💯
Happyconsolegamer mentioned!!
Its not that its leftist in nature
Its that its written terribly
Oliver Stone is very left leaning
But the dude is a phenomenal writer and film maker
Clearly: its not the politics that are an issue
Dragon Age Inquisition is a game I always see at my local Walmart on sale for 6$
I really think they ignored the price just for the label. No matter the quality, nothing on this planet is worth $15,000 a bag. But I spent 200 on a super treasure from kislux and I no longer blame people who buy fakes.
I actually don't base my subscriptions on channel size. But it doesn't mean others don't, or the algorithm doesn't.
I miss Fire emblem thanks to your background music now 😂
Integrity? Does NOT exist in the gaming world. In fact it doesn't exist anywhere. It is all about power and money. Veilguard was designed for the "kids" who don't know any better. If all the kiddies buy Veilguard, then EA gets the money and Bioware will have its power.
my crystal ball also predict a lot of steam refunds.
I used to trust reviews that only came out after the game was released, but now it seems as if some after release reviews are heavily biased and salty because they didn't receive review copies to begin with, personally i want to build my brand by rejecting any future review copy that comes my way, excluding indie games because they need the help and support
i wrote a negative opinion on a veilguard sellout review ( calling it goty ) , and i got banned from leaving comments on youtube for a day .
Welcome to the party pal!
Isn't buying reviews illegal? I know the federal trade commission just passed a law in August about it
Depends on how "buying" or "payment" is determined.
@RealLifeFakeWizard what about denying the review codes. That could be as seen as payment? Kinda like getting a product on Amazon, and you get a gift card with the item if you leave a good review. No good review, no more review code
@@RealLifeFakeWizard ftc has this rule in place as well. Review Suppression: The final rule prohibits a business from using unfounded or groundless legal threats, physical threats, intimidation, or certain false public accusations to prevent or remove a negative consumer review.
This is why i stick to remasters. ... Fook! Smh😮
They can buy reviews but not costumers to buy their turd so EA doesn't axe them.
9/10 or 5/5 will mean nothing when whole studio comes crashing down.
I had more fun out of the Mass Effect series that the Dragon Age series. I still replay ME1-3/A, but Dragon Ages games always a one and done. Even if highly fan rated I'd probably skip Veilguard anyway.
Mortismal betrayed all gamers. His reviews are for sale to the highest bidder. Look at his unknown 9 "review."

Why do they own like 99% of all "gaming" websites and why do they all seem to publish essentially advertisements disguised as reviews?
There's also the economy is in the tank, who can afford these titles? Of the last round of games, who's going to spend $70+?
Please for the love of God, DON'T bring up politics in gaming. I understand that it's there, but I've unsubscribed from so many reviewers and commentators for pushing politics in their videos.
I like you, I don't want to lose another go to channel for gaming for me.
If a game is bad, it's bad, but I hate when people bring politics in to criticize a game or movie. Make points about it, but then move on.
Please keep up the great work though!
I think I made it clear where I stand on politics in gaming in this video. It's there. You can't pretend it's not. BUT that's not what I'm here to talk about.
What's that? Veilguard? Can't hear you over the sound of me snorting cocai...playing Factorio.
I have subscribed to dozens of videogame reviewer, if someone shills for a company because they are paid or granted early access or w/e, I will know.
And for the love of god... cancel Disney plus, dude you crack me up. 😂 put that shit on a shirt, and I wil buy it.. and wear it...
A friend of mine came up to me at work a few days ago talkig about all the woke BS he ahs noticeed. I shook my head and pulled out a recording I have of the same guy in 2017 when I was asking if he noticed anyting strange with entertainment. He said "Man just shut up and enjoy it, not everything is a conspiracy theory!"
I then took a sip of coffee and stated "Welcome to the Party Pal"
Lol the Fire Emblem Three Houses music
" Oh great wizard, Is there anything in real life not fa........oh crap !"
I don't think they "bought" reviews. There is no evidence for that.
Rather, I think it's more of a case of that the game preaches/panders to a certain radical ideological group, one that happens to work in a lot of cultural establishments such as media and journalism.
