    Thank you for sharing this mellow review with us. This rack seems like a strong prospect. Sleek as a panther, strong as wood, considering it holds four bikes.

      Yeah, this is culmination of their construction and engineering knowhow.

    Just pulled the trigger on the new style rack. That lever lock for the arms was the deal breaker for me for the last 2-3 years. They finally fixed that issue so now I’m sold!!

    Nice rack! I have an older 1up 2 bike rack and I absolutely love it. This guy is tempting.

    I don't have any experience hauling more than 2 bikes but seems to make more sense to load vertically when hauling 4 rigs. Thanks for sharing.

      That's what I did after having my 1up Heavy Duty 4 tray. I kept the double and bought a Velocirax 6. This new rack is even longer which I HEAVILY disagree with.

    • @EMTBReview
      @EMTBReview  2 місяці тому

      Yeah. Vertically the distance of the bike to the car doesn't get too far.

    • @EMTBReview
      @EMTBReview  2 місяці тому

      @rezenclowd3 yeah a side effect of making space for big bikes and flat pedals is adding distance and leverage to the hitch receiver.

    I have the Kuat Pro Piston. (I did not pay retail.) Much nicer than the 1Up. Easier to adjust. Lights on the rail hook in to the car lights, super sweet for safety. I carry 2 ebikes easily.

    I'm still using 1Up racks I bought in 2012. They look like new.

      They stand the test of time for sure. I'm sure it's still worth good money on the used market.

    Was considering a 1up HD 1 + 1 for our new emtb bikes: 60 lbs and 47 lbs. My issue is that I have to remove the rack from my pickup every time I use it to close garage door, so weight of the rack and ease of installation really matters. I love the one-handed operation of this SD, however, and wondering about it instead of HD. Any recommendation?

    Thank you so much for doing this review! I was considering the QuikrStuff Mach 2 rack and came across this new 1UP Super Duty, and ultimately, I bought this one in the natural aluminum color. What sealed the deal for me were 1) shipping time for the QuikrStuff (then 7 weeks vs 3 days for the 1UP), 2) the QuikrStuff doesn't offer a wheel chock, which was a must have for my 84lb fat tire bike that likes to move a lot, and 3) the cost difference between the two racks, especially the ramp. Also, I don't really care that this rack doesn't fold inward for storing, I like the strength and rigidity of this rack. I hope you'll also do a video showing how well the optional 1UP ramp works with this particular rack. Thanks again, and I really enjoy your channel, Francis!

    Great review, I am going to order one. Question, the wheel chock you got. I noticed they have 2 sizes. Did you get the one for 3" tires or for 5" tires? Your tires look the same size as mine. I am thinking the 3" one will be fine, but wanted to see what you have experienced.

    Thanks for the review. How does it compare to the QuickR?

    • @EMTBReview
      @EMTBReview  2 місяці тому +5

      I'll have a shootout soon between them and others. They're very similar now. Arms are equally sturdy. Width of trays and between trays is about the same. Capacity is about the same now.
      The Quikr Mach 2 is more tool free. No tools needed to install rack, trays and wheel size adjust. I'm not sure how important 'tool-free' is when one allen wrench is fine. Tool-free needs the parts locked.
      The one handed arm operation is now an advantage for the 1Up. Quikr has a better wheel hold bevel on the arm. 1up has the optional wheel chock now.

    Good review. Been going back and forth on this and the new Yakima Onramp LX. I have e-bikes with fenders which is my main hesitation with the 1up. What’s your take on this compared to the Yakima Onramp LX? Thanks!

    • @ronpope218
      @ronpope218 2 місяці тому

      My ebikes also have fenders and it's not a problem with this rack, you simply move down the 'spool' on the loading arm so that it clears underneath the fender.

      @@ronpope218 Thanks for letting me know it works with your bikes. You been happy with it?

    • @ronpope218
      @ronpope218 2 місяці тому

      @JSLTRD I have been extremely happy with it! I actually owned 3 different racks (Young Electric Mate R, Kuat Transfer V2, and Thule T2 Pro XTR) before buying this one. They're all great racks, but they were either too heavy and cumbersome, or the weight capacity was too low for my fat tire bike. After getting approval from the 'boss', I got this one, and it's been an amazing rack!

  • @TroyKasper

    Quickr is still better IMHO, tool free, can go from 1 tray to 4. Folds up to save space. No pin to mess with or lose. Wheel locks. It’s so worth the extra wait time.

    • @EMTBReview
      @EMTBReview  2 місяці тому +2

      @troykasper, I would agree. The lever release mechanism on the 1up is very cool so perhaps Quikr could do something like that.

      @daboo2 2 місяці тому +1

      Agreed! I lover my Quickr rack. I can add or remove it in a minute. Plus it folds up small enough to store in the back of my SUV.

    Can you just ad the trays to the HD rack?

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel 2 місяці тому

      They are compatible from what I hear. The better approach is to add HD trays to the SD rack so the rack doesn't get overly big and heavy.
