We spent a wonderful week in Silverton, Colorado, just forty miles south of Ouray, Colorado. Between the Million Dollar Highway, the steam locomotives, and the old gold mines, we had a blast.
This is part 1 of our trip to Silverton. We can't say enough about how much fun we had driving over the Million Dollar Hwy and stepping out our front door to watch the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge locomotives steam by as they dropped tourists off to shop in Silverton. We also truly enjoyed touring the famous Mayflower Gold Mill and listening to old mining stories from our guide Freddy.

Great video! We are headed to Silverton this September and I am so excited, especially after seeing this video. I am a little nervous about that Million Dollar Highway though (pucker factor, LOL) but if you can do it with your rig, I think we will be okay.
Also, those fall colors are amazing and we will look for Freddie at the Mayflower!

We went about 5 years ago- drove the highway n came back n took the train ride - assume-ate at Handbar saloon - at time 😊I sported a handlebar mustache - might have to go back - think there is 50 r so train rides in Colorado- have a good week guys!
Hey Rick, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Did you drive/pull an RV across the Million Dollar Highway? I'd like to know how you felt. It was surely a white knuckle drive for us. So many times you're right on the edge of the cliff. At least we made it and enjoyed it after we got through it. We didn't get a chance to eat at Handlebar Saloon, we ate at some pizza place, which was good. We're already planning on going back some day and doing the train ride, I bet the scenery is awesome.

No drove our truck - my wife had to cover her eyes part of the way - scary but thrilling at same time - enjoy our little chats every week!
