Did you actually fix the issues, because I have a 290 just like you, and mine starts to ideal and bog out when it gets hot also. I changed the fuel line, fuel filter, impulse line, and the intake manifold, too. I even tried swapping out the carburetor, which made it worse. The only thing I got left to try is the fuel vent breather.

Hopefully you kept the Original Fog Lights. They're like finding Gold.

As stated before you need to clean the carb and the area around it before you reinstall it other wise dirt is going in the engine

Amazon carb will leave you pissed off. 99% of them the jets are too small. Go with factory save yourself the long term headache

When installing new or rebuilt carb or running out of fuel, put the pet cock to prime. They are vacuum operated. Prime just flows like most pet cocks. But dont leave on prime you can fuel starve, because the vacuum operation draws fuel faster and helps keep bowl full on un even surfaces under heavy throttle.

Are those LEDs high/low beam like the OEM halogens or are they on/off only?

On that pipe was it a metal gasket?

Spark plug gap is .020 and usually the plugs come pre gapped. Plus real good idea to blow off the whole area around the carb before disassembly.

You didn't show us why it failed you just replaced a bunch of parts hoping something would solve the problem.

Those aftermarket fuel. A genuine steel actually has the name stihl molded into the fuel line they don't collapse. I went round and round and round with a problem on that and learned in this case to buy genuine Stihl item.

To remove the filter, remove the whole pan and use a 76mm 14 flute filter wrench with a 3/8 ratchet

I did have to move the inner plate to be able to clean properly. I did not remove anything, just pushed it slightly to expose the area beneath it. Now I have a "reduced engine power" warning in dash and truck doesn't want to drive over 2k rpms. 2006 2500HD. What is the fix for the computer? Thanks!
