Spark plug gap is .020 and usually the plugs come pre gapped. Plus real good idea to blow off the whole area around the carb before disassembly.
Did you actually fix the issues, because I have a 290 just like you, and mine starts to ideal and bog out when it gets hot also. I changed the fuel line, fuel filter, impulse line, and the intake manifold, too. I even tried swapping out the carburetor, which made it worse. The only thing I got left to try is the fuel vent breather.
I would seriously recommend that after every use before you put it away to clean the saw from all debris otherwise your engine will still run hotter than normal. JFYI
As stated before you need to clean the carb and the area around it before you reinstall it other wise dirt is going in the engine
Those aftermarket fuel. A genuine steel actually has the name stihl molded into the fuel line they don't collapse. I went round and round and round with a problem on that and learned in this case to buy genuine Stihl item.
You didn't show us why it failed you just replaced a bunch of parts hoping something would solve the problem.
