I was mostly with you until I realized you hadn't placed Mega Man 7 until... you placed Mega Man 7. If ever there was a bad Mega Man game, Mega Man 7 is it. Too zoomed. Too slow. Too annoying. More or less spot on with the rest though. I'd put Mega Man 11 on top personally. I know it has a little less content, but damn does it have the best boss weapons by far and the double gear mechanic is freakin' awesome once you are used to it. I'd also put Mega Man 4 above Mega Man 9, but that's because Mega Man 9 took my god damn slide away.

I have a theory, I think that Mega Man grew in Mega Man 7, because the plot is a bit more mature, even though it’s rated E, Mega Man is older in Mega Man 7 and on.

The biggest thing holding X2 back is that the weapons just kinda suck and most of them are too situational. Sure the buster makes up for it...but its so good that it kinda trivializes the game, like why bother even using weaknesses when it gives the bosses a 5 second cool down and resets their AI, when spamming double charge shots does just as much damage without breaking the pace of the fight. Also the music just isn't as strong, its good in its own right but none of the tracks hold a candle to spark mandril or kuwanger.

Mega Man 2 is my favorite game of all time, and that includes Super Nintendo and PlayStation games. (I haven't owned a modern system in years).

This is not only the best mega man in the series but the greatest video game ever made to me. And I beat the whole game in one sitting without taking damage. I uploaded the gameplay here in my youtube user if anyone is interested to watch this kind of challenge ;)

I personally believe that Sigma's design is inspired by Braiking Boss, the villain from the old anime Casshern. Both characters rebel against humans and they're bald.

As an artist myself, Breath of Fire 4 sprite works are legendary that are tested of timeless classic. Megaman 8 sprites art are fine, is not the best but is better than 7 and the best looking original megaman game of this writing

You should make a “redux” review on this game. It is the second best Mega Man game in existence (only bahind Mega Man 9). Absolute amazing game. Mega man 9,10,4 thats the top 3 games.

Unless youre getting them for collectors reasons, its probably just better to get the japanese versions of the games, seeing as they're much more affordable and easier to obtain, its what i did with my copies of Rockman 7 and X2

Sorry if this has been stated elsewhere, but X can get Ryu’s fireball in MMX1 and the Zero fight changes if you collect all three pieces of him. They’re not just collectibles. Great job with the video!

Mega man and Bass:😢

I love you for appreciating the heart of the story despite the rough production at times. This was my favorite childhood game, and when I was a little kid I didn’t realize how subpar some of the acting would be considered, so the iris scene was genuinely just tragic to me and that impression has stuck even as I’ve grown up. Even though I know the storytelling objectively has some flaws I think it gets way too much hate for that. Aside from that though, I am glad that at this point most of the fandom seems to agree that it’s an excellent X game with some of the most enjoyable level design and gameplay in the entire series.

I love how you said that Octoper OA is the best Mid-Boss of Mega Man 5, and the only Mid-Boss in the game. The Micro-Bosses are Metall Cannon, Apache Joe, etc. It’s Mini-Bosses are Power Muscler, Dachone, Yudon, and Rolling Drill. The only Mid-Boss is Octoper OA A.K.A. Octoboss.

I will never understand why people love x2 and hate x3. For me it is the exact difference. The only good thing in x2 is the maverick hunters and the zero parts. The music SUCKED in x2. The Robotmasters in x2 were all kinda boring, compared to the Robotmasters in X3 i just prefer the x3 ones. Was Vile even in X2? Also on the PC and i guess PSX all Robotmasters in X3 had an Anime Intro. How cool is that?

Mega Man X3 is the game that brought me to the mega man franchise and made me a mega man fan Playing it for the first time trully was a unique experience

If anyones looking for spoilers they are to young to even think about looking up mmx2 also mmx1 does have a boss rush its just not in a room full of hatches (teleporters) you still have to refight all of them

I find that a lot of reviewers try to tell their audience how the mechanics are inherently or """objectively""" good or bad, but I think you avoid this shortcoming successfully. Whenever you say that a part of the game feels fun, I think it's a very subjective but also incredibly important statement - arguably more important than whether or not a particular specificity or mechanic is "good". Since you explain yourself and your points of view well, I believe that I might share those aforementioned feelings of fun when I choose to pick the game up - especially because I trust and respect the voice, style, and content of your reviews! This channel is an admirable hidden gem :)

When I was a kid I didn’t even know this came out I went from x2 straight to x4. No marketing. I love the x series owned every game except this one 🤦‍♂️.

There's Gundam references in there as well, look at some of the design of the robots, especially classic series protoman and sniper Joe, which look like Char Aznable and Zaku General in X4 almost has the similar build as the Rick Dom and Zaku mobile suites, X4 4th armor and ultimate armor is similar to the Zeta Gundam X4 sigma shares similarities to Deathscythe Gundam Let's not forget Astro boy as a whole for the entire franchise. There's many more.

The thing about High Max in the nightmare levels is that you have to first hit him with a fully charged shot as X and then follow it up with a Boss weapon when he flashes from the impact, to damage him. For Zero you have to first hit him with a special ability and then attack with a normal attack. While with the Shadow Armor you can just damage High Max with the charged attack.

Mega Man is just a better name than Rock Man. More than the alliteration too….

I love that Mega Man 9 has pretty cool Mini-Bosses and Mid-Bosses. It’s Micro-Bosses are like the Classical Cannons, Petit Devil, and a few others, it’s Mini-Bosses are the Paozo Elephants, Big Stompers, the Tanks with shields, and others. It only has 3 Mid-Bosses which are Stone Head, Changkey Dragon, and the Flower with a floor of death.

It’s so interesting that our lists basically swap the placements of 4 and 5 as our least and most favorite NES titles! I appreciate 5’s lax difficulty as a buster-only guy, really feels like the game was designed for my play style. 4 seemed more like a bland stop-gap in between the distinct styles of the classic trilogy and the 5+6 duology. Just goes to show how much this series has to offer - people will experience the same games but value them basically completely differently. Since you seem to appreciate a good challenge, I’d be curious to know where you’d rank Mega Man and Bass, if you’ve played it. The SNES version is in my top 4. Somehow the way it handles difficulty is so much more enjoyable than 9’s steep learning curves lol

Till this day, this is my go to megaman game. I prefer this over any other mm game they came out with since. Mmx8 demake, may be better but has not surpassed x3 yet due to its incompletion

while i disagree on your take of the game not being optimized for megaman, watching your gameplay kinda makes me understand since you seemed to be struggling/spending a lot more time on some sections that i never has issue with.
