As someone with very little Mega Man experience X4 is my favourite game so far, and it's not even close. Legit managed to get into my top 10 games of all time in less than 3 days, it's that good
Great review, it's good to have you back! One thing I'm really curious about is if the pre-rendered graphics you mentioned would look better when playing the game on a CRT TV. I've never played this game on a CRT (I played it on the X collection), but a lot of other games with pixel graphics and especially pre-rendered graphics tend to look better when played on the intended display for the time. I'm probably going to try this game on my CRT to see if it's any better, because I do agree, the pre-rendered graphics feel out of place and look weird lol
OMG! The great return! I will be waiting your mega man x 5 review. This game have many complicated problems and drawbacks but this is my favourite mg x game. I know, yeah level design often sucks but this game has the best soundtrack in the series and the best maverick roster too! So yeah, the most important thing the cool level design is missing but because of the plot, cool characters and bosses and perfect music, this game is rules for me and I'm happy about it🙂↔️
I love you for appreciating the heart of the story despite the rough production at times. This was my favorite childhood game, and when I was a little kid I didn’t realize how subpar some of the acting would be considered, so the iris scene was genuinely just tragic to me and that impression has stuck even as I’ve grown up. Even though I know the storytelling objectively has some flaws I think it gets way too much hate for that. Aside from that though, I am glad that at this point most of the fandom seems to agree that it’s an excellent X game with some of the most enjoyable level design and gameplay in the entire series.
This is a great review, my biggest issue is you saying that having to play the game again with 2 characters is an issue, that's an actual selling point back in the day. Mega Man x3's Zero was such a huge cocktease and it was done poorly imo, yes there's the secret to get the Z Saber, but other than that easter egg, nah. It would have been difficult for them to program entirely different levels based on who you were playing as back then. Playing with level editors and stuff lets you know how things are why they are as far as how it's easy to move around the capsules and the heart tanks and stuff in Cyber Peacock/Web Spiders stage, for example. I think X4 looks great, Web Spider imo. I prefer the SNES style I suppose.
Aaayy! Great to have you back and return with the awesome X4! It's a great entry to the X series and having Zero playable was one of the best parts about it. I used to place it high in my favorites, but I don't think it's as good as the SNES X trilogy. Still a fantastic entry since it's a solid game. Unfortunately everything kinda goes downhill after this one. Interesting that you brought up rank in Cyber Peacock stage, because Capcom eventually brought rank into the Megaman Zero games. You plan on checking those games out some time?
Glad you're back, and great to see you cover X4! While I ended up preferring the classic series when I got around to playing them, the X games were the ones I played as a kid, and this one in particular blew my mind at the time. It felt so dark and sophisticated at the time! Also, Sigma's final form creeped the bejeezus outta me back then Don't know if it's been mentioned, but do you intend to cover the weird and wild Rockman and Forte sometime?
Thanks, it's good to be back. Yeah, this game does feel dark and sophisticated. I would like to do Rockman and Forte at some point. I primarily play on switch, so hopefully it comes to that system soon.
I've been watching for a good while now and never commented until now, but I'm surprised you liked Cyber Peacock's stage given how much of a pain it is to get the upgrades, especially the capsule. Same goes for Sword Man's stage in MM8. I didn't like X4's soundtrack at all, I thought there was too much focus on the synth, which X5 and especially X6 later improved on. Zero is indeed much more fun than X in this game, you can just spam the Plasma Charge shot and not really try with him. Good review as always.
Thanks for watching. I'm not sure why, but I got obsessed with getting S rank on Cyberpeacock's mini stages. Now that you say it, yeah, the soundtrack is synth focus, and that's probably why it didn't work as well for me either.
So I was checking your old videos and found out you skipped Rockman and Forte aka Megaman and Bass. Why? I really recommend the SNES translated version. It's my favorite classic game. When I was watching ur mm10 video and heard u talk about bass I was like, wait a sec, did he not play bass in megaman and bass
99% of my gaming is done on switch, so I'm holding out that MegaMan and Bass will come out on switch, but I do want to eventually play it. I've only ever played the GBA port.
@@vastolorde98 I dabbled at X5 on an emulator (same with the following games). You don't need to kill anything besides the bosses to beat the game. You don't lose enough health upon enemy contact, and the forgiving checkpoint system nullifies any reason to get better. Something is wrong when the most engaging part of the game is the trial-and-error vehicle segment at the beginning of a stage. Combine all that with the "Tell, Don't Show" tutorial stage, you have one of the most patronising video games I encountered.
My bad, Toonami was as 90s 2000s tv block on Cartoon Network that showed a bunch of anime. The cutscenes in x4 seem like they're pulled straight from a Toonami show.

It is a really good game, so I can see why. It's also pretty unique within the series, so I wonder what you'll think of the other games.

Thanks! I didn't think of that, but I bet it does look better on crt. I know DKC looks better one crt, and that has a bunch of pre rendered graphics.
I appreciate the channel. I will be following Ogre Man
Thank you!
OMG! I BEEN WAITING SO MUCH FOR YOU TO RETURN

Such a freaking good Video Man😃😃

@@vastolorde98 Yeah, I remember it being pretty rough.
This might be my favorite Megaman game. So I'm looking forward to either validation or resentment!
Just kidding man, glad to see you posting again!!
Yeah, it's really good. Thanks!
The best games on the series. X4,X3 and X5...
Huh, that's a new take. There is definitely a lot of fun to be had with those games.
@@MeguhFan i played all the games in the mega man series. I totally agree. These games were awesome...
The last good X game.
I hope not. I'm going to try to review the rest of the series, but yeah, I've heard some bad things about the rest of the games in the x series.
@@MeguhFan
It was discovered a few years ago that X5 can be played without killing a single enemy minus the bosses. Yikes!
@@fictionalmediabully9830 That's weird. I wonder if there are other meta man games you can complete that way.
This isn't true. X5 is good and x6 with tweaks is good as well , x8 is amazing and x command mission is fun as well

I expect Patrick Swayze in Ogre Man
I can't guarantee Patrick Swayze will be Ogre Man, but I can guarantee that I'll think about him and his accomplishments while I work on the game.
Mega Man fan who doesn’t watch anime. All the references are lost to me 😂
