I always worry about scratching and damaging my boots by using a brush, is this likely?
How often should you do this?
Great videos, really enjoyed them. Watched part 1 and part 2, keeping part 3 for tomorrow night. You are multi skilled and your knowledge is excellent. The crab, yes, oh my god, I was salivating. Loved the bushcraft too, perfect combination of activities and the fact it was in Scotland was cool, great advertisement for Scotland. After watching literally thousands of outdoor videos I think you should be getting 500k views, who knows how youtube works?? I've subscribed. PS your amigos look like super chilled guys. 👌👌
Wish I could get Smurf poo in the US.
nicely demonstrated. All the best mate.
This was so much fun! Almost exactly like my lockdown salads, but I learned some new things too, thank you. Extremely interested in cambium as used for flours, do you have a vid on those at all? (attempting a fully foraged month next may so aiming for as many plants as I can). Thanks once again for such an enjoyable 40 mins while I'm doing some boring wildfood processing! Almost like getting a spring walk in the winter. Much appreciated.
This is fantastic, thank you so much. It was brilliant to have someone explain an an accent I don't need subtitles! (I've been shelling acorns for the last 2 hours, and this half hour was by far the most enjoyable, and passed the fastest!) Have you got any foraging courses or walks upcoming? I'm having nae luck with mushrooms this year but want to up my game and get more confident outside my very narrow mushroom comfort zone. Seriously, excellent content, very clear explanations and thorough investigation of lookalikes which is what I'm always after in any foraging content. So glad I found your channel!
I find these in Ontario, Canada all summer. They are delicious! My favorite way to cook them is sliced thin and tempura batter fried. 🍻
Gay bear leather boot fetish?
Wow - that’s a strop and some!
Melting the dubbin with a hairdryer ( not a heat gun ) is THE WAY to do it !
I'm only half way through the video and you've answered all my questions and more. 👍🏻
Brilliant video man!
What a great video. Thank you, big love brother
I made a strop but the wood i did a burnt finish
Hello. I came to your channel by searching for a DIY strop, and I watched your video on that subject. It was a bit long, but I watched it from beginning to end with only a few skips along the way. Your delivery is really good and I find you to be quite personable; on that basis, I looked at the number of subs you have and was surprised your channel (like mine) is quite small. I wanted to see if you were still making videos, and saw that you haven't made a new one in over two years. What a shame that UA-cam hasn't treated you better. I, too, have been a while since making my last vid because my earnings went from about $100 per month down to less than a third of that. I was very discouraged, but seeing that as good as you are, your channel has struggled, I am going to try again. I hope you will too. ETA: I see from your reply to another comment that you have some more videos in process, but have stalled on editing. Maybe some of the new AI type features available will reduce the grind of editing. I am thinking of changing to Da Vinci Resolve.
I believe green polishing sticks use chromium oxide as the abrasive.
I found one identical with what you presented, but with a pale colour and without pronounced scales, the scales are just coloured, not protuberant
Thank you for this ! I eat one. Now I am writing to you from the other side
Nice work, man. I can see that you must have watched the same Adam Hawker video that I did, years ago. haha He's the best at kolrosing spoons. 👍👍
I thought you had to boil it with ash to make it like that? You dont need to?
I know this was 3 years ago but 😮, if your still about on UA-cam might you 🤔 be able to help ?? The blade that you used for this kolrosing build, did you buy it or make it from an old spade/ flat drill bit ?? Also what angle would you put on the blade ?? I would guess an equal grind on each side, Straight grind or do you put a secondary bevel on the blade ?? Hope you can help 🙏 Cheers Les.
Did the bitch polypore stropping video ever get released? I can’t find it.
Just brilliant.. loved it..
Really informative video Martin, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us all. You're a star!
Can you use Leather Chamios for a strop?
Sorry... I can't watch a video and listen to tuneless jangling at the same time.
Great video 👍
Whenever I hear a Scotsman talk, I'm reminded of what the great William Wallace once said..."Ride 'round. Doo it, and let the Anglish see ya doo it."
I'm a newbie. On my first foray I found two pair of dryad's saddle, both within reach. It was mid-December so they were well past prime.....in fact they were totally dried out. I was so eager to learn more I've watched dozens of vids plus ran out and bought 3 field guides. I'm really hooked now, these were my very first finds. I now have a leg up on my first coming season. Riding the saddle off into the forest we go! (I won't be harvesting them at this stage, however....smaller ones, much younger.) (My dad was from Voe, Shetland!)
Martin at his very best. Thank you for sharing this incredible trip. Rest in peace with your beloved nature, my friend.
Just been out looking for woodears for the first time ever. Barely found any, the ones i did find were already dehydrated on the trees i found them. I gathered the dehydrated ones anyway. Will go look elsewhere tomorrow.
How long did it take you to clean up the edge on the chisel badly damaged on the 300 grit diamond stone? I am finding it taking a long time on a 120 and a 180 grit diamond stone, like 10-15 minutes?
Which side goes up on the leather to the board? Are they different on each side or the same?
Great video, thanks
What grit u used on the leader? And is your diamond stone from China or US?
Can you make me one?
Thank you!!!
Does it have any other names
😊good job you do good work Thanks 😊
You are a good teacher, thank you from Spain
What brand of double sided you use. What are the maximum width. Thank you…..
You've showed me everything i wanted to know
why you wanting to remove the bears and I prefer to eat larger grits not smaller.
Very informative.
What make/brand is that face shield/respirator? Surprised me when you turned it on.
Apf 10 evolution powered respirator. I got it from axminster
Whats that middle lower boot?
Been using my Meindl boots for some nine years, with a regular maintenence. Working perfectly, water proof, breathe, support and fit comfortably.. Never dry using a hair drier or a boot drier, just let them be for a while.
Hello. Can someone tell what kind of wax is he using? or What kind of wax do you use? Please.
I was using Grangers G-wax in the video but any hard dubbin will work, you can also see meindl sport wax on the table & a few leather treatments of my own devising. You don't want a really soft wax or oil for hiking boots. You want to keep the leather hydrated & protected but not too soft.
@@GreenerGlens Thank you!!
