Cumberland Island on Film
Переглядів 84614 днів тому
Film can be both good and bad for family vacations. While the scans you get can bring back vivid memories and capture the moment, they might not always end up as you would expect. Sometimes a digital camera could be your solution for ensuring the moment is captured as you intend. Website: alexwahoski.com IG: @alexwahoski Feel free to send me a message for any print inquiries!
Redscale at Night
Переглядів 2,4 тис.2 місяці тому
Lomography's Redscale is an incredibly unique film, I almost thought I'd never use. Continuing with my liminal night series, I was curious if this stock might be able to fit in somewhere. Some of these shots might very well make the cut! IG: @alexwahoski Website: alexwahoski.com Send me a message or an email for any print requests!
Bronica S2A (Initial Thoughts)
Переглядів 2,2 тис.2 місяці тому
The Bronica S2A has a great deal of character. Some of that character may stress me out, but that is all a part of the journey. As long as it continues to function as it currently is, I am really looking forward to continuing to shoot with this guy. Ektar at Night

Why would somebody recommend Ektar for night photography? A question that racked my brain for only a short period of time before I decided to try it out for myself. IG: @alexwahoski Website: alexwahoski.com Send me a message or an email for any print requests!
Mamiya 645 (Initial Thoughts)
Переглядів 5 тис.3 місяці тому
Buying a Mamiya 645 out of necessity is something I never thought I'd have to do, but here we are. With this acquisition, I am hoping to be able to think less about the functionality of the camera, and more about the image itself. Pushing Kentmere 2 Stops

Can Kentmere perform well when being pushed to 1600? I think so! In this video, we try pushing Kentmere in various situations and settings, and I'm quite happy with the results! IG: @alexwahoski Website: alexwahoski.com Send me a message or an email for any print requests!
Lomo 800 at Night
Переглядів 7 тис.4 місяці тому
Is Lomography 800 good for liminal night photography? For me and my personal process, I'm not too sure that it is, but life is an adventure and I enjoy spending time working to find what works best in the modern state of film photography. Film Photography & Mountain Biking

Clif Bars and film photography? Count me in! Tried out some new techniques in this video with a focus on motion blur. I'm really stoked with how some of these photos came out and the colors of the Vision3 250D. Kodak Vision3 250D at Night
Переглядів 5 тис.4 місяці тому
Vision3 is really starting to grow on me, and in some situations, would appear to be replacing Portra. As a film stock that is nearly half the price of any Portra stock, I think I can make Vision3 work for many different scenarios. Let me know what you guys think! Epson v700 & Kodak Gold
Переглядів 1,1 тис.5 місяців тому
I recently acquired an Epson v700 in an attempt to get better quality and more reliability from my film photos. No longer can I blame the lab for giving me terrible images, and I now will only have myself to blame. Website: alexwahoski.com IG: @alexwahoski
HP5 at Night
Переглядів 4,5 тис.5 місяців тому
So I loaded my Nikon FG for the first time ever and am pretty happy with the results! For the time being, I think I might stick to Portra or a highish ISO color film to keep up the color contrast. There's a time and place for HP5 at night and I'm sure I'll find it one day. IG: @alexwahoski Website: alexwahoski.com
Poor Man's Rolleiflex
Переглядів 2,6 тис.5 місяців тому
Well, you heard it here first folks, the Yashica D, while maybe not the equivalent of a Rolleiflex, will at least create predictable images. It might not be the most fun ergonomically, but people will surely ask you about it when you walk past. IG: @alexwahoski Website: alexwahoski.com

I'm from Savannah and grew up on the on the water and surrounding islands. You're one of my favorite photographers and an influence in my own photography so its really cool to see your style done in places close to me.
Thank you so much!! It’s a really awesome area, and to think of just how different the environment looks with only being a few hours from Atlanta, you get such different photos than I do walking around places by me. Definitely need to make more trips that way!!
@@alexwahoskiYeah man! Next time you make your way out here you should go to dufuski island.
You got some great shots here man! You have an eye for using any lighting in situations to your advantage.
You're a good story teller. Love the fact that your channel is about the creativity, experience and results, rather than just endless hardware swaps and reviews. Your night photography is special.
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me.
How much did it cost to have your shutter serviced? In a similar pickle with my S2A.
It was technically $350, but only because I had it serviced and repaired prior for that price, and when the shutter began to slow, it was still under warranty so that particular repair was covered by the warranty.
@ sweet, thanks!
Nice video. Inam planning to do it the same but die you count for reciprocity or was there no need for it?😊
I partially did! I always am aware I’m exposing on the higher side since I like those highlights pretty blown out, but if the scene is pretty evenly lit, I’ll account for it

Where do u send your bronica for repairs/service?
All of the work was done at Camera Service Co in Marietta, GA
@ I’ve been told before they’re probably the only ones that work on bronicas but never heard it from someone that actually had a camera worked on. Thanks man!
Nice shots. Makes me want to use the F again.
120 is the size of film?
Nope, is the 120th film of kodak that's why is called 120. The size is 61 mm
@manuelpontu8355 ah ok. I recently bought 800 for my 35 millimeter AE-1 program and A1. For low light indoors.. thanks
what filter u using?
Alex! Congrats on the 1k subs my friend. Very proud of you. I'm always excited to see your work.
Thank you so much man! Likewise!! Still looking forward to a collab day 😎
I am less concerned with the camera and rather more with what the photographer does with it. Really beautiful photography there. Well done.
Thank you so much!!
im a long time Bronica s2a shooter, my advice to you is to stop complaining
Yep, definetly suscribed, NEED to see more of this.
"I don't have a minute, I gotta poop" is what I subscribe for
I live to please… and poop.
Man, I love the door shots and do not mind seeing 14. Work the scene.
I feel like I found grainydays all over again.
Almost like the Grainynights version over here, haha.
What light meter is that?
Sekonic L-858D
As always, amazing photos
Ayeeee new tripod
Some of my most favorite shots I've ever taken have been with Redscale at night.
:) do you ever shoot in daylight? :)
I haven’t seen the sun in weeks.
@@alexwahoski 😄
It definitely brings something new. Back about, jeez, eighteen years ago now my first job was developing 35mm film. A normal kinda one hour photo situation but at a time when DSLR cameras hadn't quite caught on and serious photographers still shot on SLR. It was a strange because I knew at 17-18 years old I was witnessing the twilight of an era of technology. In the nineties I loved shooting on my folks' Pentax SLR, all silver and black with the lenses being heavy glass with satisfying textured focus and aperture rings. A distant echo from the future was auto focus or digital photography. I love the preservation of this sort of thing that I am old enough to have intimate memories with, but young enough to appreciate new technology grow from its nascent form. Keep it up. I'm also very sorry for ruining that lady's photos on my first week back in 2006. I still feel bad about that.
This was fun and relaxing video, love the vibe! I just shot my first roll of redscale yesterday. Hopefully they turn out and arent NOOKED! Haha!
Thank you so much!! Hoping your photos aren’t NOOKED! Haha
Love the shots with your Bronica
I really like your compositions. Great tonality and colour. What film were you using?
Good stuff! can you tell me what phone app you are using as a meter?
Sirui carbon fiber tripod $99 on Amazon. Have had it forever.
Your videos are very cool man 😊 and inspiring btw the last shot of the trees personally I thought was the best exposure loved your photo at the start of the video wow it’s amazing. One last thing telling us what f stop your shooting at is always cool and helpful … Keep on shooting on Peace ✌️ Tommy.
I just bought one for $250 with 2 lenses 50/75 - I am going to use it for TTV photography (Through The Viewfinder) since it will be using the mirror and the actual lens for focusing and exposures - I may also use it for ttv square format video - I think it is going to be a unique experience - maybe I will make a video!
Wow, I’m impressed- love the colors
My favorite black and white film and a functional tripod?! Be still my beating heart!😂
The first one is absolutely perfect. Great videos, glad to be an early subcriber. I also started a photography on location channel and to watch this motivates me a lot. Thanks.
Thank you so much!
Very cool photos n colours
Love your night photography videos. Huge inspiration for such a noob as me. Keep them coming!
Thank you so much! They will absolutely keep on coming!
I bought a clean copy of the S2A a while back. I needed to replace the foam underneath both the mirror AND the ground glass. The shutter on mine works flawlessly. I got no issues with exposures, the mirror, the shutter. The only issue I discovered is an additional film back I bought not advancing correctly. The Nikon glass is sharp. A heavy, sturdy tripod is an absolute MUST with longer exposures on this beast.
We’re all in trouble now, with this new tripod setup, no night scene is safe. Really digging the HP5 shots. I need to shoot more black and white.
Attacking the nightlife from all kinds of angles with this newfound functionality, haha!
what tripod did you get?
I got the K&F Concept 72" Aluminum Tripod. Folds up great and is really light but sturdy.
This was great man. That shot at 6:29 is seriously good. I've never shot film at night but you sure make me want to try!
Thank you so much! You absolutely should. I feel like I've learned a lot about photography in general through night walks.
Kodak Ektar exist in sheets.. hmmm....
I dig your photos, But your tripod takes away all of your photographer street cred.
Is it developed at 12 or 400?
Developed at 400!
@alexwahoski ok, the info on this film is all over the place so Im trying to pull it in.
Ok, so the FTn is indeed slow enough to use this film, I have it and what I think you're using is the 20mm lens.
Great photos and video. What and/or how are you metering?
Thank you so much! In very lowlight, high contrast situations, I’ll spot meter the entire scene and determine what in the scene I want my shadows to be. From there I also determine my highlights. I love the look of blown highlights in windows so I usually keep them at least 3-4 stops over, I don’t really have a limit mentally for how high I let that go. I base most of my night photography on the shadows and usually keep them 1-2 stops under middle gray. From there I adjust slightly for reciprocity, but typically don’t account for reciprocity until I hit around 8 seconds.
@@alexwahoski Thank you Alex for explaining and keep up the awesome videos and photos.
Killer shots, panning is such a neat thing. You really nailed the speed and danger aesthetic to the sport of mtn biking bro! Keep it up, maybe try a longer lens too!
Really enjoyed the video. You got some great shots!
I heard about great camera Mamiya... Gorgeous night scene photos 🎉
I've been shooting Ektar at night for so long! It's absolutely perfect for getting those colors just right, great video!
Bro these are amazing, I’m 30mins north of atl if you ever want to shoot together 🤝
Great video dude! I've got to get out and do some more night photography. Night scenes are definitely my favorite thing to shoot
