Here to help you get outside, and feel better!
Expect: outdoor tips and gear, mental health tips and stories.
Time in nature is one of the best ways to find joy and build resilience, and when we can gear up and get out, we thrive beyond the trail. But... we need to do it safely, which is where I come in. I combine wilderness tips and mental health and spiritual growth to help you connect safely to yourself and the world around you.
Inspired by my journey dealing with PTSD, anxiety, + depression, this channel is a collection of the tips, gear, and attitudes that got me from survival mode on the couch watching Naked and Afraid, to completing two Naked and Afraid challenges. I hope it helps you embrace your warrior spirit while nurturing joy and compassion 💕💕

How cute
Awesome! We don't have those round here but if we did I would still be like, yellin "AWESOME!!!!!"
It looks pretty!
So magical!
I relate to you so much Sara, thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with us! Wishing you happy holidays!
Aw, thanks Patrick! I'm happy it's landing. Let me know anytime I can help with a topic or question
You rock Sara. I use my little getaways into the woods for camping or even a short hike to clear my mind. I work as an Orderly at our local Veterans hospital where most residents have dementia. It is very mentally and physically challenging and the woods help to relieve me of stress and craziness.
Aww, thank you! That work definitely sounds challenging in all the ways. I'm so glad you have a sustainable way to reset your nervous system, heart, and head!
I am a backpacker and I have completed a thru hike of the PCT. I agree that modern life is overwhelming and induces stress and depression. Every time I return from a backpacking trip it is a difficult adjustment. Returning puts me in a funk. The longer the journey the more difficult it is to reintegrate into modern Life
aw, thanks for sharing that! I think so many backpackers and adventurers can relate to that, and the depression/withdrawal is VERY real. I've thought about making a video about it!
I planning on doing half of the AT this summer. I’m really looking forward to disconnecting from modern life for a few months. I hope I can handle coming home afterwards.
@michaelstudelska5607 one thing that has helped me after returning from a trip, is planning my next trip or trips. Even if it was an overnighter
maybe you'll see my dad (and me) on the trail! Youll be OK after, just stay tuned here for mental health support and email me if theres anything i can help with :)
yeah! i also used to be anti photo and video on trail, but i found sharing photos and vids with friends (in person especially) helps me reconnect with the person i am out there. it also inspires my friends to go to which means more adventures!
Looks inviting, but was it lost. Might as well walk down it.
That second plant was oxalis. It tastes like apple green apple skin.
The first looked sort of like mulberry, but the shape of the cluster is different and leaf is not mitten.
button raspberry :) if were talking about the same one
yup!
Yes, of course i'd camp there, but i'd put some boots on and stop eating magic mushrooms and listening to talking trees.🤣🤣🤣 👍✌️🤘❤️❤️❤️
lol
I see how you used a stick to stabilize the board, don't know why that never dawned on me as an option! What a small but awesome way to have more control over your posture or position as I've always been using my foot to directly stabilize it which is certainly a disadvantage in some positions now that I think about it. Appreciate you sharing!
Good eye! Yeah, because of my back issues a lot of postures create bad after effects (bow drill especially). As long as you’re close enough to put downward pressure on at a straight angle you’re good to go ❤️
Just subscribed to your UA-cam channel since this was so nice 😊
Aww thank you! And welcome to the channel! Here to help you get outside and feel better
You can use the back spine of the knife to spark the ferro rod to avoid dulling your blade if it has a sharp 90 degree spine.Very entertaining video. 👍
Thanks. This is my “trash knife” so I don’t care but I know it’s a bad habit, and I ought to stop doing it. 🙏💕 welcome to the channel!
the dudes standing back and watching... that's the best part :)
Hehehehe I love it
You have the talent, young lady! 👍 I have arthritis in my hands... I'd freeze to death! 😂 Thx for sharing... Happy Camping! ❤🏕😊
Thanks for the kind words! Let me know how I can help anytime
Stubbed ur toe?! 😮 Thats what happens when ur naked in the dark! 😅😂🤣👍 Ummmm... naked campimg huh (where, what, when?!) 🇨🇦
Neat find , now stop and catch your breath 😊
lol totally
Love you energy!!
Ohhh thanks :)
Thank you for sharing this
Thanks for thanking me, wasn't sure how this one would land with folks, but im SO interested in the mindset parts of survival
Such a wonderful shot.
Thanks!
Zion my dude, is it Angles Landing?
You got it! This is off the sand bench trail though, which was totally empty and GREAT. Angels landing was fun too! Will make a vid of it later this month
@ I knew it! I was just there for Thanksgiving and did the upper and lower Emerald Pools. I want to do the Narrows next year!
narrows are great!
Zion National Park
You got it!
Lonesome road dlc
Zion NP is one of my favorites and thank you Walter for your Wiggles.
Haha yes. Thanks Walter!
Nicely done with that hand drill! I've been teaching it for a while and can tell youve dedicated some time to the skill! Whats the smallest spindle youve been successful with? I used a 7" mullein spindle this summer and had to float the whole time, but it wasn't too bad!
Aw thanks! I'm using Mullein in this as well, I've only tried that and horse weed , and paw paw.
another nice video THANKS
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Happy fire-making!
I love smelling like a camp fire!
All the best people do
Fire is more than a heat source, it's spiritual. Removes all negativity, teaches us to be patience. Merci Sara
So true. It’s my greatest teacher
I didn't practice what I preach last week and never had enough kindling, or enough wood and I tried to get the kettle on and boil before the fire was going and next thing I'm looking at my kettle on smoldering wood. I broke all the rules , you would have be able to lecture me or strenly scold me lol. Hope you have an awesome week my friend
Haha we all do it! I’m always amused by how I’m so experienced at fire but still rush it sometimes lol
@@TheJoyfulWarrior Yep not practicing what we preach LOL
Wow! A wise wilderness wizard!? Wonderful!

Awww thank you Judy! 🥹🥰 that really means a lot and makes the hard work worth it. It’s my mission to build community based in the wisdom of nature and strength of a joyful spirit!
The "*cough* teen years of solo backpacking" had me laughing! Just went through most of your videos and am learning a lot even though I too have been backpacking for "*cough cough years" Great video, thanks for sharing your gear.

Thanks, hope it helps!
Me ha gustado el truco del papel higiénico 😋
Gracias, jaja yo también. Es mucho más facile y limpio
Yaaaaassssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
Haha love this energy!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Was that an Ash Juniper @3:40? They're everywhere here in Texas and absolutely covered in sticky sap that is an absolute nightmare to get off. Fantastic for fire starting though.
Hmm it’s definitely juniper but I’m not sure which type. The pitch is VERY dry, but it was also near freezing when I filmed and in the high desert of New Mexico (7,800 ft). Either way, great fire starter
@@TheJoyfulWarrior Any chance you'll be able to do some desert survival content? As far as I know only Junkyard Fox is doing it right now (he's often in that area, a colab would be really fun).
Hello! I would if I were still there but it was a 10 week stop on my way home to Hawaii! If and when I go back I could, but idk when that will be
