You rock Sara. I use my little getaways into the woods for camping or even a short hike to clear my mind. I work as an Orderly at our local Veterans hospital where most residents have dementia. It is very mentally and physically challenging and the woods help to relieve me of stress and craziness.
Aww, thank you! That work definitely sounds challenging in all the ways. I'm so glad you have a sustainable way to reset your nervous system, heart, and head!
I am a backpacker and I have completed a thru hike of the PCT. I agree that modern life is overwhelming and induces stress and depression. Every time I return from a backpacking trip it is a difficult adjustment. Returning puts me in a funk. The longer the journey the more difficult it is to reintegrate into modern Life
aw, thanks for sharing that! I think so many backpackers and adventurers can relate to that, and the depression/withdrawal is VERY real. I've thought about making a video about it!
I planning on doing half of the AT this summer. I’m really looking forward to disconnecting from modern life for a few months. I hope I can handle coming home afterwards.
maybe you'll see my dad (and me) on the trail! Youll be OK after, just stay tuned here for mental health support and email me if theres anything i can help with :)
yeah! i also used to be anti photo and video on trail, but i found sharing photos and vids with friends (in person especially) helps me reconnect with the person i am out there. it also inspires my friends to go to which means more adventures!

Aw, thanks Patrick! I'm happy it's landing. Let me know anytime I can help with a topic or question

@michaelstudelska5607 one thing that has helped me after returning from a trip, is planning my next trip or trips. Even if it was an overnighter
