I have to let this be known…..In 2009 I was a sophomore in high school. My dad had left and my mom filed for divorce. She had a serious breakdown. Long story short she took off for Florida and I was left in this ancient house in southern Maine. Once winter break hit me and my friends invited the entire school over. Endless stories surround that night. But what I’ll never forget is my buddy Doug pounding this song out while we all sang along. Towards the end my good friend Luke smashed a keystone light over his head in the middle of my room. The entire place went nuts. I’m crying writing this because a lot of these kids are dead now and I’m still here. Of course I got caught the following week after my mom showed back up…. We still had garbage bags of beer cans in the basement. I’ll never take those times for granted. Ever.

I was into NMH years before I heard of Brand New. Never got into BN, but I think its cool Jesse digs them probably as much as I do. My ex lady was a huge Brand New fan, & me it was NMH, so this is funny to see.

As much as I love Jesse, I think this song should always be exclusively sang by Kevin. I don't like what it embodies when someone else performs it, there's a certain lack of emotion.

Preston Wagner I mean.... everyone is entitled to their opinion. But the FACT is that prominent and generally strict music critics have called Neutral Milk Hotel one of the most musically significant and influential bands of the decade and many more to come. Lacey actually draws a lot of inspiration FROM Mangum and NMH and cites them as a large influence to his music.... but ya, you're free to have your opinion, albeit an extremely angry and ill-informed one.

Brand new is by far the best band. Ever. Lyrics sound growth everything from your fav weapon to daisy all great think of how much weve grown with them over the years. We all know any of their songs done acoustically is just icing on the cake too. Whoever doesnt listen to them regularly is missing out. So many songs to choose from. ALL AMAZING
